The Forestry, Wildlife and Parks Division is reporting the closure of the Boiling Lake Trail following a major landslide in the area.

This morning one of our tour guides came in and brought in some photographs and based on our evaluation of the photos, we decided to close the trail,” according to Assistant Environmental Officer Jacqueline André.

She said all measures are being taken to have the trail operational again.

“We are doing all we can to have the trail operational. Our team will go on the trail and do the assessment to see what we need to do to get it up again. Until that time we are advising visitors and locals to refrain from going on the trail,” she added.

She said two other persons also informed government about the matter.

all of ya’ll sound stupid. the point is…along the trail to the boiling lake… there have been landslides, thus, it isnt safe to go up there and the trail has been closed. and thats that!. no need to argue why and how and who should be in charge.

My thought are always on DA these days, My prayers includes DA always . These are some stranges times, the way volcanoes are erupting lately and thoese that haven’t erupt for the last two hundread years makes me wonder are we in Dominica ready? that where i pray that we doe see such a day . There are serious activites taking place under us whether it’s man’s doing or the world going through it’s own Geological transformation we need to take heed. The Boiling Lake area should be monitor more closely these days that whole area there as we know sitting on fire, I pray our water continually flow and keep this dragon satisfy and let it never get thristy. People living and traveling these areas should always be aware.

      April 17, 2010

idiot dry season also means landslides as well if the soild to dry it crumbles and can cause a landslide if its to wet it will flow cause its looses cohetion so not because its dry season that dont mean we cant get landslide soil needs a balance of retained water t make it stable
