Digicel has announced that its efforts to restore cell phone service to Belles customer have been hampered by theft.
The company has revealed that fuel, a battery and an alternator have been stolen from the generator.
“Members of the Digicel technical team are doing their utmost to get to the Belles site to restore service. We are appealing to the public, that once service is back on in Belles, they should cease from tampering with the generator and any other technical equipment,” Digicel stated in a press release.
Meanwhile, LIME customers at Portsmouth now have the availability of fixed line voice and mobile service.
A LIME release said fixed line service has been restored to Bleheim, Calibishi and Vieille Case while mobile service has also been restored in Grand Bay.
LIME customers in St. Joseph now have their full suite of services back in operation. This includes fixed line voice, internet and mobile service.
According to LIME General Manager Jeffrey says the focus continues to be on bringing full restoration of service to LIME’s customers around the island. “Our technicians, ably assisted by our external technical resources flown in to assist, have been working around the clock with the aim of completing full restoration of all services in quick time,” he said.
Yesterday, LIME restored service to the Melville Hall Airport, Marigot and Concord, the release stated.
Other areas with functional mobile services include Roseau and environs, Goodwill, Stockfarm, Castle Comfort, Wallhouse, Loubiere, Canefield, Morne Daniel, Cochrane, Massacre, Mahaut, Morne Bruce, Morne Prosper & the valley, Pond Casse and surrounding communities, Castle Bruce, San Sauveur, Petite Soufriere and surrounding areas including Tranto, Dipa, Good Hope, Carib Territory, Bellevue Chopin, Pichelin, Giraudel and Eggleston.
Fixed line customers in the various areas including Grand Bay, Pointe Michel, Canefield, Mahaut, the Valley, Goodwill, Fond Cole, Colihaut, Delices, Cochrane, Calibishi, Salisbury, Cottage, Bellevue Chopin, Carib Territory, San Sauveur, Castle Bruce and Pond Case are confirmed working.
