Teachers and students of the Pierre Charles Secondary School in Grand Bay are now mourning the death of auto mechanics teacher Eustace Kent Pemberton who died of injuries sustained in an accident this morning.
Police Public Relations Officer Inspector Claude Weekes reported that about 7:20 a.m this morning Pemberton was riding his motorcycle PM803 in a southerly direction along the Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard while Mitsubishi truck TB898 driven by Antoine Defoe, 34, of Tete Morne, was moving in a northerly direction when the collision occurred .
“Upon impact, Pemberton fell off his bike landing on the eastern side of King Gorge V Street. He sustained serious injuries. He was transported to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital where he was being treated by the doctor. While being attended to he succumbed. He was officially pronounced dead by Dr. Garvin Seaman,” he said.
Weekes said the motorcycle was extensively damaged while the damage to the truck was minor.
The truck driver who escaped unscathed is assisting the police with their investigations.
Meanwhile most of the students at the Pierre Charles Secondary School have been sent home for the day and government officials are on the grounds with the remaining students providing counseling and helping them come to terms with the loss of their teacher.
Pemberton is described as an energetic young man and full of life. One friend said he was someone who understood happiness and how to make others happy and that bike was his love, perhaps a symbol of his strong will and dogged determination.
May I just say what a relief to find someone that actually understands what they are talking about on the

Were you a witness to what happened that day? Do you even know who was in the wrong? This is what I don’t understand. I’ve been seeing blasting the driver on FB and I just have to SMH because none of your were there that day to see what happened. Can we let the reports come out on who was wrong that day? We don’t know if it was the truck driver and unfortunately, we don’t know if it was the person on the bike. People will always pass judgment, but at least have the decency and not use that foul language during this time of loss and grief.
Remember one day is that same God you will call onto. But the funny thing is that he will remmeber you and forgive you. It was an accident and no one in this life could prevent it. This is how he had to go whether you like it or not. We are all saden by this but you can express your displease without using such profanity.

I couldn’t believ it was you who passed away when I saw the pic of the accident. The one thing I will always remember is your smile. You were always so jovial and helpful .I remember those college days when we were collaborating with sifocol and technical to have mor esocial events. You were always at the meetings and helped planned so many events that made us more of a cohesive college. Every time I was home and I saw you you would always say hello and chat for a little while. Though you are gone your memories will live on forever. This is a journey we all have to go through but I guess God was ready for you since he knew how special you were. I’m in a state of shock. Can’t believe that someone so kind, friendly, helpful, considerate, careful, jovial, caring, god fearing, responsible, open person could be taken from us so senselessly. Life is really unpredictable. I’ve known Pembo for most of my life and I know he was the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. Pembo was loved by many and he will never be forgotten. You will be missed y all who knew you. Many tears are being shed, but one day we will see you again.

I couldnt believe my eyes when I went on DNO website earlier today and read the Headline and saw your picture. My heart sank and I sat there in total shock. I felt so sorry Pembo man…Seeing your pic brought back instant memories of when we worked together at Auto Trade some years back; what a wicked mehanic you were then and still is…always coming out from the garage or beneath a vehicle with your hands pitch-black dirty and walking out like a boxer.lol… But most importantly always had time to chat and reason with someone – very humbly. I remember always bouncing into you somewhere whenever I come home on vacation and we would stop and have a 10-15 mins chat and reason bro. You were liked by many….R.I.P Pembo. Your memory will linger in my mind and you’ll surely be missed. My prayer and thoughts are with you family, friends, colleagues and pupil.
