The Soufriere police are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of 46-year-old Alice Alcendor of the community.
Police PRO, Inspector John Carbon, said the deceased was a teacher at the Soufriere Primary School.
According to inspector Carbon, Alcendor was found lying in an unconscious state at her house in Soufriere on Monday morning by a co-worker after she had complained of not feeling well the day before.
The body was transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital Accident and Emergency Department where it was examined and pronounced dead.
A coroner’s inquest will be convened to be followed by a post mortem examination to determine the cause of death, Inspector Carbon said.

I never knew her as Alice.
Verny may you rest in peace. To Mimi, your family & friends, you are all in my thoughts – may God be with you all, to give you comfort & strength during this sad time.

May she rest in peace. Those of us who are left behind, we should love our love ones more, do not hold to much hatred, we must let go every anger against each other. From the day we are born, we are getting closer to dying. We talk about life, we have to prepare ourselves and our love ones about death.
We are loosing our young generation by natural, accidental, and murders these days. Please, let us pray for our nation. We a loosing a lot of constructive people in our communities and our under- populated nation. Let us enjoy each other, because sooner or later, it is going to be one of us. That is life. We are like flowers, we bloom and after we die. All the family and friends, stay strong. God is not going to give us more than we could handle.
Please let us enjoy life to the fullest, constructively, and have a good legacy when we take our last breath.

I’ll always remember how Verny befriended me on my first visit to Dominica.
it has been my esteem pleasure to know Alice “Verny” Alcendor. she was my grandmother neighbor for many years in St. Albans source Soufriere. Verny was the kindest lady in Soufriere that i had the notion to have known. we called each other on the phone a lot she in Dominica and I in St Thomas. several weeks ago she telephoned me but i did not hear the phone ring. i only knew it was her from her voicemail. Verny i am going to miss you very much i trust and pray that you are at peace and i will never forget you.
RIP Alice “Verny”. Very sad indeed, May God be with your family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. We went to CHS together. “Fun-loving and crazy” Alice, dear Alice. Rest in God’s peace, family.

RIP YOU WERE A GREAT TEACHER
waww. very sad news …cant beleave it…but thats part of life. god has called her..my thoughts & prayers with the family be strong..god is good.RIP VERNEY.
If is one thing I just can’t stand is our poor use of the language and spelling. Remember poeple all over are reading what we write: believe it or not!
so waatt. who cares about plp all over.
Can you believe you?
I mean YOU Spelt ‘People’ wrong.
So Then, I suppose you can’t stand yourself also.
I guess you do not realize “people ” vs “Poeple”. Check yourself before you check others.
Why didn’t you write “truth” with a capital “T”..Isn’t that a name…Isn’t a name a proper noun…Stupes…This is comments forum…Take a chill pill!
Having said this, doesn’t the same apply to punctuation? What are you listing why you inserted a colon? Where are your commas?
You are so quick to judge, yet your own sentence is so poorly structured.
Check yourself!
u spelt people wrong
oh please people make mistakes news broadcasters make mistakes every day,get yourself together first.
My sympathy goes out to the family of dear Ms. Alcendor. R.I.P dear Alice.
@ Truth
Not everyone has the requisite skills to express themselves as they would like-in this regard do not miss the forest for the trees. The fact that you got the message is great-we will help each other out.
You are so correct. Dominicans expelled people
From the Dictionary and replaced it
With PERSONS. That word is used so much it’s
Bordering on the ridiculous right now.
@Truth it is spelled people not poeple. Pot meet kettle – LOL.
Ooops! You are so good at spelling and language…not did you make a spelling error here? The word is “people” and not “poeple”.
When you are being critical of another person’s “poor use of the language and spelling”, you should ensure that yours is perfect.
Teacher Mimi (to me and those who know you and the Alcendo family well), I am very saddened to learn of the death of your beloved little sister Verny (deceased), and a dear friend.

oo what happen people what happen
This is so very sad.RIP.
On another note can the inspector correct his
English he keeps referring to the body as it.
“The body was transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital Accident and Emergency Department where it was examined and pronounced dead.”
Look at it this way. Religious people believe that it is he body “it” that is dead, and not her. She is gone to her God.
So what should he say? Where “she” was pronunced……. Please suggeest what is gramatically correct.
This is another story on DNO in this case he corrected himself.
“He succumbed to the injury on the porch where he was pronounced dead by the district medical officer.”
That is the correct way, we Dominicans just hate to
Be corrected!
The body is left the “person” (spirit) is gone. So what is left is “it”.
@anonymous – what is wrong in using “it”. what should he say. stupes
Actually, there is nothing wrong in using ‘it’ except out of respect for the departed and family members. It could be stated that ‘her/the remains’ were transported… Generally, this is what is stated and not ‘it’ which is used for a thing, an animal and not for a human being whether departed. Stating ‘it’ might be an error. The coffin/the hearse without a body would be ‘it’.
It/
Pronoun:
Used to refer to a thing previously mentioned or easily identified
