The body of a woman, who was washed away at Glassé near Boetica around 1:30 pm on Monday, has been found, according to reports reaching DNO.

At the same time, another woman who was being treated at the La Plaine Health Center, for injuries received during the incident, has been transferred to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).

The dead woman has been identified as Wendy Thomas of Fond Cole.

According to an official police report by police PRO, Acting Inspector, Pellam Jno Baptiste, a group of eight was at Glassé Point when a number of individuals were swept away by waves. All but Thomas made it back to shore.

Her body was fished from the sea about 200 feet away from shore by the Marine Unit. She was officially pronounced dead at the PMH by a medical doctor. A coroner’s inquest will be convened.

April Philogene, also of Fond Cole who sustained injuries during the incident, was treated at the La Plaine Health Center and referred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the PMH where she was examined, treated and discharged, Jno Baptiste stated.

DNO was told that Philogene is Thomas’ sister.
