AG says government is reviewing Anti-Terrorism Bill

Attorney General, Levi Peter says that government is currently in the process of reviewing the recommendations and comments submitted in relation to the controversial Anti-Terrorism Bill.

The Bill was originally slated to be read three times in Parliament and passed into law but the United Workers’ Party UWP and the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) questioned certain sections and held a peaceful protest outside Parliament on Monday, June 25, 2018. The proposed Anti-Terrorism Bill was read only once in Parliament, and not three times as was originally submitted in the Order Paper.

The Attorney General had given the deadline of July 15, 2018 for recommendations in relation to the Bill. Speaking on DBS Radio, on Wednesday, he stated that the comments which were received before the deadline will be addressed and, if they are believed to be suitable, will be applied to the Bill.

“The deadline has passed,” Peter said. “The comments that were received have been addressed and will be responded to or addressed in the coming days and weeks… It’s being dealt with. There were comments received a from a few entities, and those comments… all of the people have received acknowledgments and an indication that their comments or their recommendations have been reviewed and if deemed appropriate, will be taken on board.

The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) and the (UWP), have expressed concern that the bill will prevent ordinary citizens from exercising their constitutional right to dissent and protest. Some were of the opinion that the Bill was being rushed through Parliament with all three readings at one sitting without giving the public time to read and scrutinize it.

Your Country is on the brink of Civil unrest. I see it coming. Just take a look at the rise and fall of Muhammed Gaddafi. Thats where Dominica got their first taste of corruption and thats how it will fall.

A good place to start would be to invalidate all passports sold and purchased citizenship since Skerrit has been PM Does the government of Dominica even know who is on the island?

Hold that thought Mr AG. The topic of discussion is ROSS. No distractions sir. We haven’t heard the spin from the minister of education or minister of health. As for the Parl Rep of possi he’s as clueless as everyone else so he can retreat to a bar.

As far as the AG and other members of Cabinet are concerned the decision was neither political nor personal. I was a business decision which they have no control over. If the government had such power they would have prevented Linton from going on CNN and blasting and degrading Dominica. For issuing passport under the CBI programe ,knowing full well that there are more than 88 countries with similar program, including some in the Caribbean. Then he uses his “DIPLOMATIC ” PASSPORT to crash (mop) a heads of government conference in Guyana. Putting protocol and security officials at risk. The diplomatic passport saved him from being arrested as a terrorist. Well Skerrit saved him. In any other country his diplomatic passport would have been revoked and he would have been arrested on criminal charges. This was definitely an abuse of diplomatic priveledge and he could be declared “persona non grata” and be banned from Guyana.

Shut up man. We all know that you and that Barbara Saunders are Skerrits chief apologists. So in reality your utterings count for absolutely nothing. You guys are low lives that are only in it for personal gain. You claim to be patriots but in reality you sold your country for a few silver coins to this dictator. Skerrit has done nothing for Dominica in 18 years and he will not do anything for Dominica in the future. All he has done is skimming our precious resources to enable him to live a life of luxury in New York.
