The Ministry of Agriculture is on a drive to revamp its Information Unit and to keep the public abreast on what is happening within the Division of Agriculture.
Acting Director of Agriculture, Ricky Brumant, said that the Communications Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture has not done enough to sensitize the public about activities of the Division of Agriculture.
Brumant says the Division has acknowledged this weakness and will seek to become a more efficient public relations unit in the coming months.
“We have done things and maybe one of the errors is not putting that out in the public domain so much. In hindsight, this may not have been good. We are at the point where we are projecting for the future and it is looking better and brighter.
“Come July, in the new programme year, the initiatives are going to be afoot. We are going to do a lot more with the Information and Communications Unit. The plan is really to position, especially the communication part of the unit into a more streamlined and efficient farmer and public relations unit, working more with farmers groups and you will probably, in the coming year’s programme will probably seem more evidence of that.”
The Unit will work in collaboration with the Government Information Service in hosting regular discussions on matters of importance within the Division of Agriculture.
As least I know you can take a hint from people like me who like to talk about these things. Thanks. Make sure it works and an effective person gets the job.
