On Saturday, October 29th 2016, patrons of the Roseau Market including returning Dominicans and visitors can look forward to “A Market Day with a Difference” at the Roseau Market, as Dominica observes the 38th anniversary of Independence.

Market Day with a Difference is observed annually primarily to highlight the hard work of our farmers and vendors, and their contributions towards the national development effort.

Government Officials, dignitaries and special invited guests will be taken on a special extended tour of the Roseau Market to interact with vendors/patrons in keeping with the renewed emphasis on farmers and vendors.

During the official welcoming ceremony, vendors will be recognized for their outstanding contribution to the progress and development of the agricultural and service sectors. The awards will cover a wide range of areas including the vending of vegetables, citrus, root crops, meats, craft, flowers, shops, booths and snackettes.

The youngest and oldest vendor trading at the Market will also be awarded.

A special feature will be a plantain display highlighting a variety of plantain recipes.

The official welcoming ceremony to observe Market Day with A Difference 2016 will commence from 8:00am in the covered section of the Roseau Market along Laing Lane. The Minister for Trade, Energy and Employment Hon. Ian Douglas is expected to deliver brief remarks.

Cultural presentations at strategic locations on the grounds of the Roseau Market will also form part of the Day’s activities and provide some form of entertainment for patrons throughout the day.

The Management of the Roseau Market Authority invites the public to this activity.
