“Alcapone” to have his day in court

Scotland will prosecute the case on behalf of the state
Scotland will prosecute the case on behalf of the state

After over four years on remand at the state prison, Edward “Alcapone” Green will finally have his day in court.

Green is facing a charge of murder and his trial will begin in the high court in Roseau on Monday with Trinidadian lawyer Keith Scotland prosecuting on behalf of the State.

Green is accused of murdering 35-year-old Damien Dorival, whose headless body was found on Elmshall Road in June 2008. His head was later discovered in the Palm Grove River.

Green is represented in the matter by Peter Alleyne and the case is expected to attract wide public attention.

The case had languished in the system for various reasons ranging from setbacks in forensic test results to ‘tight court schedules.’

To make matters worse, former DPP Gene Pestaina and acting DPP Julien Prevost had both recused them selves from the case.

Attorney General Levi Peters, explained that this forced the authorities to seek outside help to have the case prosecuted.

For many, Green is a character with a less than savory reputation and Alleyne acknowledged to DNO last year that this perception is hurting his client.

It is also said that Green is facing “serious health issues.”

Justice Bernie Stephenson is expected to preside over the matter.

@ “positive mind” How do you know that he is not guilty? are you looking on the bright side of things – as being “positively minded?” We shall see.

It is alledged that there was someone assisting in this matter. It is believed that mr. al capone will eventually speak. Let justice prevail!

The pic is misleading. The lawyers pic should be used with another story. At first glance before opening the story it appears as if this is Alcapone.

I also thought of that. I had to look at it twice and realized that it is not his picture.

I heard from good source that they found blood in his vehicle. When it was examined in Trinidad it was found to be the blood of a chicken. Were they out to get him?

“Let the case begin.” So if they find him guilty, will he have to spend another 4 yrs. in the hole? so what if he’s found not guilty? would he now have grounds to sue the “State?” $10,000 per month X 48 months = $480,000.00??? not bad for a crime job.

I hope they do not use his health as an issue because he is deliberately not taking his meds. The moment they let him go he will be healthier than everybody. Let him rot in jail. Damian did not deserve this in any way, shape or form. Let us pray for the Dorival Family.

      Maria.

Hello you are absolutely correct. It seems like anytime there is something to do they bring in a foreigner or a foreign company like we don’t have any qualify person or company to perform the task. If I was a politician I would pass a law saying we must consider a local before we bring any foreign company or person to take a job from our citizens.

From what I heard over a year ago, it is indeed more than time; four years too long. He has suffered enough in Court. It is a shame that the case took so long to come to Court.

People must look at this ‘Man” and take note, when you young and strong and things going good with you,you must not take advantage of thoes who lookup to you or afraid of you.you must always remember; today is yours next day may be the next person’s turn. This attorney representing him there, one time, He was hunting them like animals;during the Dread Act,(iknow cause i hear it from his mouth when he was a ‘special constable’ hunting down dreads),see how life works.take note thoes who have the power today, tomorrow you maybe at the other end of table of fate.Yet he deserve his Day in court.
