Anton “White Fayrie” Joseph and Ti Orkest have won again in the NCCU Cadence-Lypso Competition.
Joseph won for the third consecutive year, in the individuals section of the 2016 competition when it was staged on November 2nd at the Pottersville Savannah. Jerd Dorsette placed second followed by Murphy “Sye” Jno Jules in third place. The winner walked away with a $10,000 cash prize while Dorsette received $5,000.00 and Jno Jules, $3,000.00. The other eight competitors received $1,250.00 each.
However, persistent heavy rain which started during the performance of featured international artist, Gordon Henderson after the individual competitors had performed, resulted in the show being discontinued and eventually rescheduled to Saturday November 12 at Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
At that show, the winner of the Band Champ section for the past two competitions, Ti Orkest, had little difficulty in repeating that feat and walking away with the $10,000 cash prize that comes with the title.
Ti Orkest put on an impressive performance to beat the three other competing bands. Breve came second and received $5,000.00 and Signal Band took home $3,000.00 for placing third. Lookus Band completed the band section line up and earned $2,500.00 for their contribution.
