Police have confirmed that a body found in Portsmouth today is that of 54 year-old Anastious “Jones” Watty of Zicack, Portsmouth, who went missing since July/August last year.
The police say the body was found in an area called “One Mile” in Portsmouth.
According to reports, Watty was positively identified by the pants and shoes he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
Watty’s remains have been taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Police say their investigations are continuing.
It’s a pity I hadn’t commented on this post then. What is Ironic in all of this is that their last brother (Polo for Decormis) died by Suicide, by taking his own life at his family’s property in Picard, I believe his Aunt. He drank a weedicide substance used in killing bacteria or insect around bananas the name of it is called Vydatel pink in color if my memory serves me correctly. So this poor hard working Mother I remember her Ma Zetty not sure if she is still alive lost two son’s. Her first son is Frederick and he lived at one mile agricultural station taking care of the Government’s pigs and farm there. Their only sister Grace Watty a veteran Teacher of 40 years served P.S.S. Now I am thinking of all this after seeing this post because I was thirteen years at the time it brings back a lot of memories, especially in regards to Polo. In order to keep this post as per DNO guidelines I’ll stop here, but what I have to say is fascinating and absolutely truthful to that Community.
To the once who responded to my question in regards in Portsmouth. If you guys had read the info.from dno in the beggining you would have an idea why the question where in Portsmouth was ask. For your informastion its because of my question you guys got information on his name Jones and where he was found in Portsmouth. So maybe you all are the fools that take what you get and don’t ask question before spreading rumors.
MR.Stupidness, let me inform you, We can view DNO ALL IN THE Netherlands. He don’t have to be from your country to view his comment. Every one have there on view, please repect that. I am a born Dominican who lives in the netherlandse.I know one mile. This man was missing did his families, friends and authorities with thier K9 join together and search that area knowning he went to his garden at one mile.Maybe they would have seen him. In Europe when bodies are being found decompose already. The cops do mension the last clothing, tatoo,or body piercing ect by families or close friends of the dicease, it could be the decease thruogh the above mension, forensic will give further report. The families will pray is not there love-one, But in the mean time they should be preparing for the worst.Dominica have to run a forensic checkup before the true ID of this man is proof is really him. Before they buried a wrong person, it happen in the Dominican Rep.
A man died and a lot of you folks just come on here and complain looking for the next news item on dno to comment on and make yourselves feel important. He’s dead so stop telling the police and media how to do their jobs and pray for the gentleman’s soul
to some of u disliking my last comment, apparently,u don’t know, one of the bestways to identify a decomposing body is through ‘DENTAL RECORDS.
I got several telephone calls stating that Jones body were found at One Mile.
I was very sad to learn of his demise as we grew up in Rolo Street Zicack, attended the Portsmouth St.John’s Shool and were classmates and he was a also a very good friend of my deceased brother.
If it is his body, I am extending my hand of and with deepest sympathy, words cannot express my sadness. Words escape me feelings run high I donot really know what to say as I feel your loss losing someone dear is the hardest time when everything else just doesnot matter.
Life seems so pointless but I believe that one day we will all be together the love that you shared will never fade away. May these words comfort you and give you strength in your time of needs to his Mother Mrs.Zetty, Brother Frederick and Sister Grace Christine) and the rest of the family.
We the family thank you…
So many experts on DNO, I wonder which are the real admins
There are two Jones from Zicack That I know, which one? Short crazyman Jones or Jones the sailor?
Sad news still.
Stupess, you are not making any sense, check your written words, your name it self say who you are stupid., you said he drive to his garden a mile or two is not to fare for a body decomposition odor, a dead body smell for miles , okay, so incidentally he or you are walking to the garden , but you said he or she drive to the garden[ you are a cover up. get you facts you need to be broutgh in for questioning.
Stupess, you are not making any sense, check your written words, your name it self say who you are stupid.
We should try to understand that there are not much
our police department can do without our government
Giving them the proper training and equipments to w
Ork with. We need a special task force just to work in that department, not the original officers that do the normal police duties.
I wish for the sake of this mans family, that they are able to identify the remains, may it be by shoes, pants, DNA dentals record!… because a missing person/family is hard to deal with, any unusual sound reminds you of that person…and honestly a pant and shoes is A LOT to go with, DNO did not identify the shoes and pants…that I can guaranty..
PLEASE Dominican let us not always label our country and it people as the worse…when all our only powee are our little fingers on the computer, If DNO did not report! most people would have remarks/comments to make…and negative ones at that…
DNO stated….According to reports….
Watty’s remains have been taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Police say their investigations are continuing.
Then……wait for the final report…
It’s no about us….some of us just like attention…
Whoever he was, whatever he did and however he died, I feel sorry about it. No one should die in such a manner and alone, under the circumstances. He did not deserve it, most of all in the eyes of God. I hope the Lord had mercy on his soul. Only God and the soul know where he is. On Judgment Day we will know.
Oh my. My people Dominica is a small place. Let’s focus on he dead man and his family. You all are making too much out of nothing. Obviously he must have relatives. Leave DNO and the Police department alone. Do no forget we are talking about Dominica. Remember where you came from. Better yet go and visit, you will understand that a missing person can indeed be verified by his clothes. God bless and protect our citizens.
people, someone can’t be identified by their clothes.go to the dentists get his dental record, easier way.if you all want to know more on how to identify a body let me know.
What if he NEVER……saw a dentist? are you saying that they should go ahead and get one the same way as getting a BIRTH CIRTIFICATE? Please stay in Texas, soon you will tell us that you and BUSH are next door neighbor..fool fool…uneducated Texan…or is there something you know about this…..call 767…
they always think they know once they been to the big city. know how things operate in Dominica before all you open your mouths. or at least use your brain. America is not all.
@ Texan hush your silly mouth. Dominicans don’t read, they don’t inform themselves for the most part and just blurt out garbage and feel they are informed. Who told you that dummy? As recent as this past week missing severely autistic boy Avonte Oquendo, remains were identified pending DNA test which came back conclusive, merely by the T-shirt and sneakers he was wearing.A teen walking along a Queens beach saw what she determined were human remains a limb no less, and called the authorities. Within days the NYPD officers braved the frigid waters and recovered more remains. Before the DNA test was done, the missing boys attorney announced to the media that everything including the shoe size thus far and given them every reason to believe it was the boys’ remains. So that shuts down all your ignorant ranting and the others like you. NYC is bursting at its’seams with people who could all be wearing sneakers and t-shirts that size, yet with no DNA it was already predetermined that the child met a tragic end. Don’t believe Google the darn story and stop talking backward nonesense.
What’s your problem nah? You just want people to know you in America and know a little thing. Go to a forensic lab and see if you get a job and stop trying to come on DNO showing off. Dominica in not backward and you can’t compare Dominica to America. One man gone missing on the island since last year and he was wearing a blue shirt with khaki pants and navy blue shoes. What the hell dental records you talking about? I could understand if more than one persons had gone missing . How many dental records do you have back in Dominica? Soon you will ask for DNA. When some people leave Dominica and go overseas it’s like they get brainwashed …they forget where they came from. I’ve been in the U.S for over 20yrs and to me it seems like I left Dominica yesterday.
People people If that’s the report DNO got from the police, What can DNO say. I am in defense of DNO today “Give jack his jacket” What the police should have said or what should be stated here is simply. ” The remains of a Dead person or a decomposing body was found in so and so place. The Clothing on the decomposed body matches those which were reported of a missing man from so and so place back in July of 2013. The police investigation is on going Thank you…..RIP sir RIP
Why not people can’t be identify by their clothing they last had on when they disappeared? You need to get real. You must send some equipment to D/A so they can do dental identification. Also do you know if the person went to the dentist for them to have record of his teeth?……………….
This is not the USA or Canada. What if he has no DNA and dental records? What if he never went to a doctor or a dentist?
I agree
what about the other young man from zicack.did they ever find him.i think his name is Michael or mitchel
Do you think clothing is enough to indentify whose remains that was found? What about DNA? This is news to me.
say sa ou ka kuhay say sa mem
Since july/august he was missing but has reports of his disappearance been aird on the local news?
oh god
What ever these people are called. Investigators, cops? Please do better than that before you report to dno? How much percentage was positively identify? 99.99%? You guys are kidding me. That’s not enough…wow. shame shame shame. Relatives of the deceased how you are claiming the right body.
You are too curious or shall I say inquisitive. Understand they probably did not want to give the gruesome details and to spare readers this information which might upset them.
The identity detection is like so lame #Modernworld
Come on dno, i can understand if the shoes and clothes found on the body may be similar to one of his own but to use that to forensicly or positively identify a body. That sounds dumb. What happens to dental record and dna. I hope these methods of forensic identification are used in Dominica
Dominica is not as BIG as Canada – if you have some equipment send it to dominca so they can use it. You are living in foreign country for too long.
A fuss all you does diasporans full of it. When faux news and abc and cnn report about items found on the body that matches the victims, I don’t see no hoopla from all you. shucks man. Why you all don’t just shsshhhh…or better yet come and write those stories for DNO since you all have issues with every story written in Dominica. Cha man
I agree with you, they just think Dominica will turn a first world country overnight.. they need to hush like u said and let DNO do their job.. jeez ah jaah negativity
Dem dayospara does really get to me! They go states for 2 minutes and want to come back playing minister of CSI affairs!
A lot of people said it, but I will say it again; positively identified by pants and shoes? Confirmed? Well, I hope we can hear cause of death and all the other details soon. Can’t believe someone didn’t take a scent. How far of the main road? The info is very sketchy. Hope the police can give more info in the near future.
I know everyone saying why others did not take the smell. Well, One mile is very big and where he was found is bushy with hills and also it is a vast area, so it would be unlikely someone would smell anything and remember they had a lot of rain last year, this did not help the situation. Rip to Jones and condolences to the family. You are in a better place.
Alas poor man may the good Lord wrap him in his loving arms
If the Lord hasn’t wrapped him yet, he won’t get wrapped again.
One way or the other you never know and will never know. Let us hope the Lord had mercy on his soul.
This is why we Christians should fervently say the following prayer as often as possible during the day or night. It is an effective prayer which could assist those who are dying throughout the world.
Helping Our Lord Jesus Christ to save souls. Those who pray it will receive His blessings while on earth and at the hour of death:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, once in agony have pity on the dying.
I hope the COPS do well in their investigation attempts.
When I was a child (not that long ago) growing up in my village in Dominica, I remember when someone died or there was a funeral, it was a rare occassion. Now it seems to be the order of the day! My condolences to the family.
Death used to come like Christmas – once a year. Now death in D/A is like the rising sun, daily.
You are getting older like the rest of us. Some people die and some are born every day. I too remember deaths as being rare as a child, but the cemetery was also full with graves.
I remember All Saints or is it All Souls? That was a big Feast of the Catholic Church and the Cemetery used to be lighted up with candles. I remember everyone I knew had someone who had died and had candles to light on at least one grave.
Today on these Feasts, many graves have no lights, it is sad really, because most of the dead have no one to put a candle on their graves; their living relatives are overseas; or have joined other religions that does not recognize the All Saints and All Souls.
Today we hear more of deaths because of TV and internet and radio and all the death announcements.
Unless they were elderly people and were terminally ill.
Was it in a residential area? did any body smell the decomposition ?, was the body buried, in a shallow grave? was foul play suspected?, who discover the body, is that person a possible suspect?, D.N.O it is okay to elaborate within the confinement of your journalistic perimeters without giving out confidential information to the suspect or suspects , and yet still better inform the public with a little bit of sensationalized information, that makes the reading more interesting.
A diaspora.
Yes I Madame/monsieur fbi
mr anonymous aren’t u living in dominica… one mile is an area alittle distance from civilization, where people keep their gardens also where mister jones has his garden. now the person who discovered the body does not have to be a suspect that person normally pass on his vehicle on the main road to go to his garden which is approximately 2 and a half miles from one mile, which happened to be on foot today taking a casual walk to his garden when the body was found.one mile is an area with a lot of sheep cows goats and even pigs so if someone take an offensive odor they will pa no mine.
Dental records in Dominica? Slim chance. A lot of people in Dominica simply don’t go to dentist. Therefore, they have to use pant and shoes. Lol. But seriously can’t believe this man perished just at one mile and nobody saw or smell anything. Did they looked for him? Wow. In the past the community would do a thorough search for days and weeks if necessary. Sad and fishy.
You mean he was missing and they didn’t check his garden? Are you for real?
TO Ms Anonymous…while i agree that DNO could have provided more information with regards to the body found..i see nothing sensational to write about someone who is now deceases and most probably died in an unforgiving way….really?
Unforgiving manner? Are you God? Or did you murder him or know who did and prior to his death did not forgive him for something he may have done?
As if DNO is CNN………..!!
Wow! Wow! I need my country to be peaceful and loving. STOP THE KILLING please!!
@4U2C
Stop jumping to conclusions? No one said he was killed. In case you don’t realize it, some people still die by natural causes you know. smh.
4u2c, 4urinfo, Nobody killed him.
http://Www.and they already identify him by the shoe and pants.no DNA?
But where that link come from non?
“He was positively identified by the pants and shoes that he was wearing…”
I love that one
what you mean
That pants and shoes were made only for him. So nice ti ID someone by their threads. So if that clothes and shoes were rotten it couldn’t have been Mr. Jones. Ya man, way to go.
me too. No forensic evidence necessary! Only in Dominica! I love this country.
behave, that’s what our police can go by ha ha ha ha ha ha. just last year they got finger print machine lol
WOW.
Oh is this the guy from zicack called Jones?
that’s what was reported
I wonder?!?! It must be Danny Jones!! wow! During one of his “episodes” he used to tell me he was my father!! We were soooo afraid of him. God bless his soul.
no it is not the crazy jones..but they grew up in the same area of zicack
wrong Jones
Ok this is new to me , I never knew a dead body could be identify by what they were wearing. I thought a dna had to be done.
what if that person put his clothes on a dead body to let ppl think he is dead and righ now he is living in ny?
did you
FYI @ Care.. actually a Preliminary I.D. can be done on a cadaver/corpse the correct term which should have been used, prior to a postmortem.Last known clothing, distinguishing marks i.e. tattoos, birth marks etc known to the individual prior to disappearance are key markers. Postmortems are done to establish likely cause of death. DNA is used to establish the true identity of the person, mainly used when all else fails.e.g. remains are beyond identification.
I tried posting this before and got a message that I already did? Glitch I suppose. Hope this helps you.
Care you say that with conviction and so many people give you thumbs up for speaking garbage. God help my people!
Just think. There is always an exception. His family may have known what he was wearing prior to disappearing. Therefore, it makes good sense that he was identified by his clothing.
Would you think that this is not he and the clothing he wore prior to disappearing was given to the person who was found dead? Do not make your mind work overtime.
More info. Dno. Where in Portsmouth?
If you take your time to read, you will read where in Portsmouth.
Please read the police report AGAIN!
Of course I did read before you did that’s why I ask because it didn’t say where in Portsmouth. I wonder who is the fool you or me. Am a very good reader maybe better than you are.
Really? It’s obvious you are not Dominican.stay out of it
Why are you people so ignorant and stupid? That person is only asking a question. OH GOD HELP MY PEOPLE. DOMINICANS!
What you guys don’t know is that dno had no valid information when the question was ask. You all who responded to my question seems very ignorant. And I believed if the question wasn’t ask by me you would not be reading the full information. Don’t be more of a full than what you think I am.
Did it not say one mile? Why r u asking where in portsmouth again? Read before u ask unnessary questions.
it is right there.[one mile…..]
Can one positively identify someone by the clothes and shoes they were wearing? It may match a description but to say positively identify is another
Yes it can happen…….in dominica.smh
Do not be funny or sarcastic.
that’s exactly what i’m thinking
Yes! It could be done even in a progressive country, if this is all they have to go on if no DNA. All the authorities need is confirmation of what he was wearing, from the family or others who last saw him. Otherwise he will be named John Doe and may remain in the mortuary for a very long time. They could not keep him unburied forever. Then the city will have to bury him as John Doe.
