FIFA dismisses Patrick John appeal

John

FIFA Appeals Tribunal has dismissed an appeal lodged by former president of the Dominica Football Association (DFA) Patrick John against a two-year ban.

The appeal was heard Wednesday and lawyer for John (Glen Ducreay) had expressed hope that the decision would be over turned.

However, DNO can confirm that the Appeals Tribunal on Wednesday afternoon emailed and faxed its decision to the Dominica Football Association in Roseau confirming the two-year ban imposed.

FIFA has banned 11 football heads in the Caribbean, including John, for their role in an alleged bribery plot involving former presidential candidate Mohammed Bin Hammam.

The international governing body of football had initially charged John for accepting US$40,000 in cash from Bin Hammam to support him in an election campaign against FIFA President Sepp Blatter.

But after a hearing on the matter FIFA disclosed that John did not violate its code of ethics that relates to accepting bribery of $40,000; it however found him guilty of infringement of FIFA statutes.

John has also confirmed that he was found guilty of violating FIFA code of ethics that addresses general rules including Article 8 that deals with protection of personal rights and Article 9 that relates to loyalty and confidentiality.

He claimed he was surprised after being informed that FIFA had decided to ban him.

In his appeal, he claimed that FIFA took into account “irrelevant considerations” including a previous conviction against him, more than 30 years ago.

John is not allowed to take part in any football activity neither here nor internationally for two years.

This is not anti-PJ or whatever he did, as far as I am concerned he paid his debt. He redeemed himself partially with all he did for football, but PJ and many others who sit on boards, managing committees etc for eons need to learn when they are not wanted and leave on a high note. What happen is unfortunate FIFA politics but clearly he needs to take a hint.

Hmmm!!boy iam there in the park, maybe at the same sport diffrent structure, about 45years ago, patrick and a group of his football club members’cumburmere’were on the main stand discussing sports, i was a little boy,i can remember him talking a lot of crap he would do if he was in charge of this country, and in fact he became incharge of the country and did a lot of what he said he would do,run the country by his wits and fancy, his insulaters misled him down the road to distruction,he fell and stand again, but he did not give up he came back in sports and run it the same way he ran his government and again he failed.today he is fighting for his credibility when he should be living easy in his sinor years.I say all this to make the point, that Dominican leaders and people in positions don’t seems to realise that Dominica is not their’s alone it is our to build and they must live and let live, know when to quit so they doe have to be fighting for their rights in there old age. That man had so much potential when Dominica was in it’s prime, and he waste his energy trying to please his party members who abandoned him when he needed them most.today 33 years and more, we have another young man streering down that road again. Is pass we passing through.

Why can the comments stay focused on the topic, which is football? Where does Mr. Maynard fit in this? When last did you hear that Mr. Maynard was still working?

All of them in it. Charles Maynard needs to sit his down too. All of them. I find people too troublesome. Volunteer, go take a sea bath, enjoy your twilight years, what does Charles Maynard add of value to Dominicas’ development in the state he is there? really? Plenty people need to sit down. There was one who retired and everyday the man going down ministry and cause a rocus for what? as if is them that more smart, or have a monopoly on ideas, and he wasn’t man turn on a computer when you hear that.

PJ need to fall way back. You have a second chance at life, you did all you could for football eh beh they don’t want take your ball and net and go play by a pre-school. Leave FIFA in their business. Nobody in FIFA can tell you not to play on a field in your island Dominica. No he want to be in charge

I fully agree with you. I love to check out DNO daily, but blokes like that always have their own topics. Always political. That’s disgusting!

Let us now open a new chapter in football, gone with the old in with the new.
THE DFA needs to take a more professional approach towards international football and the way football is managed here on the island.
More football fields, training /equipment and exposure for our young boys.

This a total misconception my friend. Maybe mr. Skerrit can not accept that there are people, who do not love him, or even like him but does not mean that therefore they must hate him.I would imagine that there are also plenty of people, who are indifferent to him. This kind of thinking reminds me of people like Stalin, Mao or Hitler, who decreed that if you hold views that are different from them you must be an enemy and therefore be isolated, denounced or even eliminated. I trust that’s not the way you would like to see the country develop.

If it was the PM or one of his cohorts, most of you would be singing a differnt tune. Patrick John is a true patriot, dominicans w-must learn to forget differnces and support one another when facing an external threat. that is the differnce between nations like Barbados and Dominica

Boy, you don’t choose your family you know. A rotten egg is a rotten egg even if it happens to be your brother.

IT HAS BEEN ALLEDGED THAT CERTAIN MINISTERS OF GOVERNMENT HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A RUBBISH BIN SCANDAL, IN FACT MONEY HAD TO BE PAID BACK. MR JOHN WAS JUST GUILTY OF AN INFRINGEMENT OF FIFA STATUES.WE ALL KNOW OF CERTAIN MINISTERS OF GOVERNMENT WHO HAS BEEN GUILTY OF INFRINGEMENTS OF THE DOMINICA CONSTITUTION.WHY DONT YOU ASK THEM TO TAKE A BACK SEAT.

I do understand what you are say but remember that we have a lack of well educated person on the ISLANd therefore it is very difficult for many to know what is right from wrong especaily when they cant speak for themselves, but those of us that know better we will always point out the things that’s wrong on the ISLAND.
