BREAKING NEWS: Landslide at Cabrits leaves wedding guests stranded

Land slide at Cabrits

According to information reaching Dominica News Online (DNO) a landslide which occurred earlier this evening close to the Cabrits Cruise Ship Berth, has cut off access, leaving about 100 of people from a wedding reception stranded at the Cabrits.

Below is a brief video which partially captures the moment when the slide came down.

DNO has also obtained another video which was made earlier today, showing the unstable face, in daylight, of the cliff where the land slide came down. That video, courtesy of Trevor Johnson, can also be viewed below.

Please remember we had an earthquake a few days ago. It is a possibility we could still be dealing with small effect. This country is on an earthquake belt and is very fragile to any shift or movement of plates.

Just a month ago i was saying to another comrade from Portsmouth the government needs to widen that road towards the sea and and trim the cliff. Mr Tougn , Nantan and others keep going to the Park for Jazz and can’t see it in them that the road needs widening and the cliff needs trimming. They love Portsmouth so much. A bunch of men with no vision sp the people of Portsmouth perish.

Landslips in this area are mainly due to the topography of the land. It has nothing to do with any spiritual wickedness of Skerrit or his administration. Something now has to be done urgently to prevent further slippage or lost of life. In some areas, huge rocks protrude precariously from the hillsides threatening the lives of motorists and commuters. A stitch in time saves lives.

It’s all the blasting that’s going on in Dominica. We don’t seem to be
Aware of the impact blasting has on the island of Dominica.
With global changes in the would, well why not make our own damage.
Shame Dominica has no one to protect it.

Put the beam in our eyes, the rain doesn’t only fall on Skerrit house. When you see your neighbor house catching fire take water and sprinkle yours..Have you ever hear of the sinkhole on the flat surface of the earth with no presence of rainfall…Skerrit didn’t make the terrain of Dominica

I am not overly acquainted with this stretch of road and I can only suspect that indiscriminate cutting into the hillside eventually resulted in destabilisation.

However, I am very acquainted with the ongoing fiasco at Antrim. Here again is an accident waiting to happen, not by an Act of God but by the Folly of Man.

The road under Canefield Cliff is another case in point.

The always-fun-filled Mr Mystelics seems very perplexed, brow sweating was heard recently in a very sober tone asking several times “why? Why? Why? are these things happening taking place in DA. .. I don’t understand …mountain fall down… and more grave incedents to come” Id like to introduce to him the lyricist Ben E King who wrote the popular song “stand by Me” ages ago
Not for secular reasons but for spiritual heads up, buddy.
    When the night has come
    And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we’ll see
No I won’t be afraid, no I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
    Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
    I won’t cry, I won’t cry, no I won’t shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
Question Dominicians: who is that someone or BEING who is gonna stand with each one of us then? Or are we gonna fall apart? Also, Let us not forget the concept that everything happening is…

If or when such terrible events, forinstance like the earthquake in Haiti, happen does it suggest a high degree of malevolence in the world or country? Who we gonna blame? The people (in majority), the leaders, or its/their creator? Fortunately , if it’s the latter, two things come to mind repentance and reparation individually to avert more catastrophes. Please No other intellectual variants or mediocre excuses like stuff /…. happens “just deal with it” That would be labeled emotional asinine with two ss. Certainly, NOT emotional or spiritual intelligence.

Wow! Mysterious indeed! Wondering if that may not be as a result of an earthquake activity? Just wondering…I’m amazed at the holes left…

Cabrits is one of the flattest areas in Dominica and a place you would never associate landslide with. Boy these things are serious signs you know boss because things of that sort seems to be following us on every side. This thing is close to the Morrocan hotel Skerrit said that opening in December a stone throw away from kumpiski hotel they say opening next year. Boy Skerrit can run but he can’t hide and evil and misfortunes seems to be following on every way. What next?

Yea, like the people who are dying of heat stroke in Japan and Europe; like the sinkholes in Florida swallowing whole houses without warning; like the several who died in India as a result of monsoon rains; like the earthquake in Indonesia; like the one in Italy; like the shoot-ups in schools in Trump’s like the volcano in Hawaii; like, like, like!

Most of all like all the wishes for evil to befall Dominica which you hear everyday on Q95. I have heard people wish for another hurricane worse than Maria. Ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? Ever read the Bible passage which says life and death lie in the power of the tongue?

when people go to the ends of the earth bad talking Dominica. It is the worst place in the hemisphere. It is the poorest and most under-developed; It has the most corrupt government on the earth; There is no night life. There is no international airport. Then when Ross picks up and goes we are running around moaning.

Well said Barbara. You are so right. Many of those posting these negative comments are residing outside of Dominica so they don’t care, and think they are ‘alright Jack’, always boasting about how well off they are because they have left Dominica! However, the Most High does not sleep.
