May your soul rest in peace Mr Jones and condolences to your family but I must say here that we Dominicans are too unsuspecting people and we are not redeeming the times in which we are living. .
How many mysterious death have we had in the past couple years? How many mysterious disappearances of persons we had in the past few years? Remember two Prime ministers died suddenly /mysteriously within a short space of time! And the mysterious list continues…and will continue until and unless we as a “God fearing nation” if we still are understand the predicament / diabolic situation in which by our country have found itself. The spirits that are associated with lawlessness will continue to hunt us as a nation unless we turn back to God n start doing the right. May God continue to bless this nation

What is the problem? Why are some D/cans giving sensible comments thumbs down? I am suspicious of your motives.
Is it wickedness of the heart?
Do you not like to read words of sympathy?
Did you know or not know the departed?
Do you have something against him or those who comment?
Everyone’s time will come when we will vacate this world. The only thing we know not when for anyone of us who are left behind.
The best thing we can do for ourselves while we are given an allotted time, “Be kind to everyone.” This will determine our earthly happiness and peace and eternal destiny.
Thank God He is the Judge. He knows our hearts and what is embedded in them. He is taking note of our overall attitude and toward others. I always say, this is my consolation that in time, sooner or later, everyone will reap just what they sow as they deserve.
Therefore, let us be fair and do good to others that we might receive our reward and not eternal condemnation and punishment.

  9. media control
    June 19, 2016

In an attempt to facilitate the control of the media, someone was instructed to purchase the Chronicle, Dominica’s oldest newspaper. Since that newspaper was bought, the propaganda of Skerritt’s DLP Govt intensified. Was it purely coincidence or a strategy to further control the minds of Dominicans with one-sided stories.

GIS, DBS are controlled by DLP Gov’t. KAIRI FM radio is totally supportive of Gov’t. As if that wasn’t enough control, the Dominica Social Security acted promptly and purchased the remainder of the shares in MARPIN that was owned by WRB, a foreign Florida Co.

MARPIN 2K4, its Board of Directors comprises of supporters, operatives, sympathisers of Skerritt’s DLP Gov’t. All under the watch of the DSS, who bought the rest of the shares. Now DSS controls 100% of MARPIN 2K4, but the Board is made up of mainly, if not all DLP operatives.

Do you understand what is going on? Certainly, it could not have been just a simple buying of the Chronicle…

You mean, at a time like this?

It is really time to get concerned about the state of some people’s minds and who and what may have contributed to this situation. What a legacy to leave behind, one of shaping people’s minds and hearts to breathe out nothing but negativity no matter what the occasion, the time, the event. In other words, to have imposed my negative personality on so many people to the extent that nothing I ever say in the future, even if I were to take back some of my words, could ever change their perception and attitude.

Surely nothing to be proud of and no one can convince me that there are no personal consequences for this. It may take a while but it is bound to come!

That is an interesting and intriguing question. If Mr. Jone was indeed the legal owner of the Chronicle, it will pass on to this heirs to do with as they see fit. They might try and sell it, bequeath it to someone else or try to carry on with a new editor. However, as far as I know the Chronicle was not sold with any tangible assets. The premises from which they operate at Wall House, were not included in the sale and nor was Paramount printers, with the owners of the Chronicle respectively pay rent and printing costs.
I do hope the Chronicle does not pass with the demise of Mr., Jones. It would be a loss to have one newspaper in the island only and diversity of opinion is healthy and educational, even if we do not always agree with the editorial direction.

It would be helpful to know what each of these people who died suddenly were doing or about to do when they died or were found unresponsive. We could go back five years and do some research. The results could help to save other lives. We need to use these sudden deaths to help educate the populace.

Was he on medication for any ailment?
was any doctor prescribing medication to him without checking his overall health first?
Was he self medicating with life threatening pills for some reason?

If we live long enough, we all have to go through this final process of death at some point. May his soul rest in peace and may his family find comfort in their faith in God.

If you know about health matters you could take a guess.
Anxiety, stress, not eating nutritiously (even though it could be afforded) or not having time to eat properly, too busy, not drinking especially ample water to help the blood-flow to pump the heart and to the brains
Not getting enough sleep and rest. Exhaustion, working too hard, no time or very little time for leisure and so on..
You know when people own businesses and/or are in charge what it could be like. Responsibilities could take its toll. All these could lead to body ailments.
In the end, this may have been his time to die. All our doubts, denials and questions will be revealed to us one day, probably when we die, when the truth will be revealed to us
We pray God had mercy on his soul. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

Sorry to hear of his passing. We are human beings. When especially someone dies suddenly it is a shock for it was not expected. Yes! It is to be expected that it will shock all those who knew him.
God has no problems with that. He understands our shock and our grief. In fact, He looks down with compassion at those who mourn their beloved ones and strengthens them. He is with them even though they cannot see him.
Blessed are they who mourn for they will be comforted.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen!
My sincere sympathy to all members of his family.

How can the demise (death) of someone take you by surprise, when the Bible teaches “it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that the judgment?

You, or I or anyone alive can die any minute of the day! We pass on from life unto death! You had better ensure that your soul is right with God: You had better accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, so that when your time comes sudden or of old age you know are not heading to hell!

Be sure that you pray to him to forgive you for your sins, and try to live according to his doctrines; so that the moment you die you will be in his presence.

The Bible teaches “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

Right at this moment he is much better off than you; for no longer he has to deal with life atrocities, no more dealing with politics, and what goes along with it, no longer shall he fear to write even the truth, and get sued by some money grabbing hawk for libel, or slander!

You are rightfully surprised by his passing. Do not worry about the one who commented below. He has a problem. All of a sudden he quotes from the Holy Bible which is something he did not previously do. He calls God, Jehovah. Those who do are not Christians.
It may be that God hit him with a thunderbolt to make him change his lifestyle and he is now showing that he knows Holy Scripture in addition to godly words. If so, it was more than time.
However, I do believe he is a fake, a hypocrite trying to impress others. I am not impressed.
God who knows him and his lifestyle, I wonder if God is impressed and how impressed is he with this one.

Fact, you can call my name because I know you are babbling about me!

Nevertheless, I need to tell you the rubbish to spew at me has no effect, because when I get involve into something, I give it my all to learn for my development of mind.

The purpose is when I hear people like you talking rubbish I can dismiss your sentiments as that of a fool. You claim to be such a good Catholic, but it is better you were a inebriated felon in the streets.

Because everything I stated are found in the Roman Catholic Bible the same as it is found in the Protestant, or the King James version of the Bible, maybe if you took sometime and do as God told believers “study to show yourself approved unto him rightly dividing the truth, you would be like me.

You would depend on to what is in the Bible, and not the garbage your pope, and so called priest teach you; my information is from the word of God, not of man! To hell with you!

Your comment shows how much you do not know Gods name. Gods name is Jehovah. We need to educate ourselves about that. Jehovah’s witnesses may always use Jehovah and not God but as a Christian, born again, water baptized, pentecostal I can tell you that God’s name is Jehovah Rapha who is healer, Jehovah Shalom-peace, Jehovah Nissi- banner, Jehovah Jireh- provider and I could go on and on. Please take this man’s comment and study to show yourself approve so that you can use what you know from the bible and not pulling things out of a hat.

Do not make me laugh. You did.
How foolish! As if you and he know better and know it all.
The only born again people; not Christians who were already baptized in a recognized Consecrated Church to God, whether as babies or adults, are those who were never baptized as Christians and who later accepted Our Lord Jesus Christ. This is something people as you can never grasp and comprehend..
Christians say and pray, “Our Father”, primarily taught by, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
So what type of watered-down bible do you have?
You are not a Christian. Do not try to pull the wool over my eyes and brains. If you are a true Christian you would say “Our Father …”; not Jehovah.
Anyway, it is useless keeping up a conversation with people as you and trying to correct you. You are beyond learning. You people follow false leaders with also warped minds. You have lost your way and are on the wrong path. One day you will find out.

As you mentioned Basil, some years ago someone I knew was dying. A few days prior to his passing, I had a dream of seeing a very tall black man dressed in a strange colored, three-tier outfit and wearing boots. He was scary.
He was in the foreground, far away. As he walked and was approaching, the D/cans who saw him ran away and hid. I awoke before he approached. I told a relative of this man about it and was informed, he, her relative will die. He died. I attended his funeral.
Many prayers were offered for him while he was sick and I prayed that God forgave him of his sins.
I have not forgotten this strange dream. It was the first type of dream I had. I hope it is the last. It was something else.
Recently I have had some some dreams with people in them; some were Dominicans. I usually interpret these dreams as an omen.
All the same God decided that it was Mike Jones time to leave the world and so He took him. May his soul rest in peace.
