In the spirit of sharing, Digicel under it’s Christmas theme ‘Brighten Someone Christmas’ on Saturday 21st December, 2013 was thrilled to travel to Atkinson and the Kalinago Territory to share the joy of Christmas with ten underprivileged families and twenty five kids.

Digicel staff and their kids, all looking like little santas dressed in their red Digicel Christmas shirts, enthusiastically drove over 30 miles from Roseau to the community of the Kalinago Territory to bring much needed smiles to the people.

The recipients of the food hampers are Etheline Laville of Atkinson, a 92 year old with seven children four girls and 3 boys. Neolize James, aged 78, Hector Fontaine who worked in the community as a farmer, Geralda Auguiste better known as Dada of Bataka, aged 87, is survived by one son. At a very tender age Dada was taught to fend for herself. She basically did farming for her living to support her family. Other recipients of the food hampers were Beatrice Laurant, Lucian Laurent, Roama Vigille, Elizabeth Auguiste, Masli Fredrick, Hectore Fontaine and Londell Bruney.

The journey ended at the Digicel sponsored ‘Sewinal Festival’ in Atkinson where everyone assembled on stage to wish the people Seasons Greetings, sing a few Christmas Carols and  present the gifts to the principle of the Atkinson Primary School with some kids. They were all very happy to welcome the Digicel Team and its kind Christmas gesture of sharing with them. Gregory Rabess, representative of the Atkinson Village Council commented, “We are cheerful to have Digicel support our Sewinal Festival and to share with the kids and families of the Kalinago Territory. Digicel always reaches out to the communities of Dominica in one way or another and today they are here with us. The Kalinago Territory will also continue to support their very good work in Dominica as we all stay connected with the Bigger, Better Network – Digicel.”

Digicel’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Nathalie Walsh, commented; “Christmas is a time to care and share for others around us who are in need. Every year Digicel goes out into the various communities to touch the lives of many children and elderly who are so very in need of help. This year it gives us great joy to brighten the faces of the kids and families who have received the gifts. May God continue to richly bless each and every one of you, Merry Christmas from Team Digicel.”
