Brizee’s Mart, the retail division of O.D. Brisbane & Sons (Dominica) Ltd., officially closed its doors on Monday September 30, 2013, after 19 years of operations.
The company has adjusted its business model to focus on its Wholesale/Distribution operations. The Wholesale/Distribution Centre will continue to operate as normal from the Canefield location and through its mobile fleet, delivering a range of quality goods that Brisbane has become known for throughout the island.
From the Wholesale/Distribution Center, the valued Brizee’s Mart customers will be able to buy some of the items they had been used to purchasing at the retail outlet like – large bags of dog food – 25lb bags of flour – bales of toilet paper – cases of water – milk – beer – soft drinks – oil – paper towels – takeaway containers – matches.
The company will continue to distribute its key brands like Nelson flour, the Roberts line, which includes Glow Spread, Mello Kreem and Sunflower, Pinehill juices and milks, Beep and Bop, Johnson & Johnson and Kraft and others.
Management appreciates the continued patronage of its customers and the general public.T AND STAFF OF O.D. BRISBANE & SO
very much like this new business structure
Can the wholesale hours be extended like the supermarket use to be? I was a regular customer of Breeze Mart, and I’m very sad that the supermarket closed down. My shopping time was always after work sometime between 6-8 pm. Sometimes I want to buy my case of water, shandy, and Vita malt but can’t because the wholesale closes at 5. IT would be nice if the wholesale could be open for longer hours.
Brisbane stay quiet so Savarin will not ask for another boycott.
BJ’s and COSTCO does it in the US, why not BRISBANE at home. People, buy in bulk and save.
To Jerry and all the Brisbane family, I wish you guys all the very best in this new approach to the business! I hope and pray that it brings you the success and sustainability which you so richly deserve after so many dedicated years of service to our community!! May God bless and keep you all and your staff!!! Bless up……..
The people are always the ones to take it on the chin. The poor workers are without a job and that’s the sad part. We are heading down a slippery slope if that slope is going to be a politically injected slope. Lord put a hand and save Dominica from it self Amen. Cut all those long tongue, and the double tongues, send them on a vacation.
Two points I wish to make here:
I. OD Brisbane’s strength has always been in distribution and wholesale. That’s what they did for eons till they moved to Canefield and opened the retail section. So it may just be the company’s realization that they need to concentrate outside of retail and focus on what they do best. This is a business strategic move.
2. Secondly, and quite possibly, the impact of the “boycott” called by Charles Savarin may have had far-reaching implications. Charles Savarin, in what he has become famous for, asked Dominicans to boycott the Company after owner, Jerry Brisbane, criticized the Government for wasting XCDM27 on a state house while the country grappled with challenges, poverty and unemployment. Today, Savarin is President of the nation.
What really pissed me off is the total silence of the private sector toward the nomination and election of Savarin as President. Shame on you!!!
jerry I wish you and family well. be of good courage. as a spiritual being God did not brought this far to leave you. our prayers are with you. thanks for all the donations you are giving to non profit organisations. May the good Lord Bless you abundantly. Blessed independent season.
very good odb very good
