BUSINESS BYTE: Prevo Cinemall, For more than Just Shopping.

A new flavor began at the Prevo Cinemall in Roseau last Friday when Green House Sports Bar & Grill, opened its new restaurant, with both upstairs veranda look-out and street side seating.

According to Jameson Johnson, the owner of Green House Sports Bar & Grill, he chose the Prevo Cinemall because it is one of the best business locations in the city. “When I saw the Space For Rent sign hanging on the top floor of the Prevo Cinemall, I jumped for it right away. I called the number listed and got a very pleasant answer. This told me that the people at the Prevo Cinemall knew how to deal with other business people,” said Mr. Johnson. “I was right about this because, in the opening process, the management and staff  gave me their full support.”

Defying the stormy weather, patrons came out in their numbers to support Green House, and rocked and sang along to live Country Western music by the Caribbean Cowboys band, until the early hours of the morning.

The Green House opens from 10 in the morning and prides itself on offering a sumptuous breakfast any time of day. Its surf ‘n turf lunch and dinner menu includes grilled, fried or steamed fish, shrimp, lobster, ribs, steak, chicken wings and drumettes. These are served with fresh garden salads, fries, scallops or rice.

The Green House’s well-stocked bar is famous for its delicious homemade Dominica rum punch, but don’t try to count how many you drink, you will quickly lose count because it packs a good “punch”.

Presently at the Prevo Cinemall, work is being done to refurbish Dominica’s oldest Cinema, the Carib Cinema, to establish a Cafe in the Courtyard and to create The Sports Block, for Sports Promotion. These exciting new initiatives, along with the opening of Green House Sports Bar and Grill, make the Prevo Cinemall a place for more than just shopping.

I visited recently and here are my observations:
1: The Barman knows his stuff can mix most drinks.
2: Food didn’t take long to be served.
    3: food quality 7 out of 10
    4: Price… ok.

    Cons:
1: I would have two ladies serving customers instead of one.
2: The Barman is over worked, he should be focused on Drinks only. He has to attend to those at the bar, record sales, confirm orders for food… just too much for one person.
3: Greater privacy in the kitchen, it’s too open.

    I will be back again.

Shame, shame shame on you. While you are presently seeking to arrest the PM for misleading and squandering money. It is pitiful to send you have opened a chain of restaurants all over Dominica. You are just eating YOUR VOMIT.

Re-read the article. Did you note: “These exciting new initiatives, along with the opening of Green House Sports Bar and Grill, make the Prevo ‘Cinemall’ a place for more than just shopping.”

Anyone, man or woman is free to support whomsoever they want and voice their opinion freely. Are you suggesting that Jameson should not speak because he is successful? Is it Mr. Skerrit running his enterprises? You make me sick. Good luck Jameson and keep speaking your mind. It is your food I am eating, not your politics.

Yes, I was at Greenhouse the opening night. It was a blast! Would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice, non-rowdy, comfortable chill out at the end of the workday. The view from upstairs ain’t bad either.

That is a welcome change, a place to dine at nights. I hope it is air conditioned and the ambiance is family friendly and the cuisine is varied enough to encourage repeat customers.

    Congrats!

Good luck! It looks as though you are well on your way to having a successful restaurant.
I will buy the salmon steak which I saw in the picture. I love fish and also salmon.
Inform your patrons who drive, “If you drink, don’t drive. If you drive, don’t drink or only one; not a strong one. This should keep them alert that they do not fall asleep at the wheel and not have an accident.
I hope drivers will avoid drinking and driving. Your patrons who drive will love your drinks, especially the rum punch. Since they may not be able to resist drinking them, you should consider sealed take-out drinks, not for the road but for the home.

Hey Truth, this is Dominica, not Toronto, Move your body, take a plane and come and enjoy it. Your credit card works here too.

When I travel again I surely will. Visitors love to go to a good restaurant to socialize with hopefully amicable and compatible company, dine in comfort and where the food is palatable. I will not be using credit card especially when visiting far away for obvious reasons. I love to use cash.

By the way, I forgot to mention that Dominica, being progressive has ATM machines. Funds can easily be accessed from one.

Truth, unless you have a checking account with money in it in Dominica you will still have to use a credit card to get cash from the ATM so what is your point? Do you have a bank account in Dominica perhaps and the social security people in Canada are not aware of this?
