Over 3,000 homes in 12 communities to benefit from faster Internet speeds
Roseau, Dominica: SAT Telecommunications has revolutionised Internet service in Dominica with launch of its broadband Internet packages that will deliver speeds of a whopping 50MBs to customers where previously they had access to a maximum speed of only 8MBs. To celebrate the launch all new packages ranging from 8MBs to 50MBs will be available for half price.
Residents living in the communities of Canefield, Goodwill / Rose Street, Jimmit, Loubiere, Mero, Mahaut, Morne Prosper, Scotts Head, Shawford and Trafalgar will now be able to enjoy the fastest and most reliable home Internet service and, thanks to state-of-the-art underground fibre network, customers can surf, stream and share faster using their smartphones, tablets and PC’s – with little or no interruption.

With SAT Telecoms, unbeatable speeds of up to 50MBS, reliability and great value are in store for customers who sign up for our range of packages that fit every lifestyle and budget. We are confident that SAT’s unlimited fibre broadband service will provide a major boost to businesses as well as significantly increase home Internet penetration within these areas. We need more details on the pricing and speeds
Sounds very good. I hope their management read the comments here. I for one have had a terrible customer experience with them but still prefer to stay with them. Hope they improve the customer experience. They need to give access to pay bills online and view account information.
They also need to ensure that customers get the speeds or at least 90% of the advertised speeds. If they can improve their service it will be better for them as they will gain more business and it will also force the competition to rethink their packages and pricing structure. LIME is way too expensive.
You can view your account information online on the sat website…Contact Cust service…you’ll get the instructions.
SAT usually does not work in Calibishie. It has been out 111 times this month. But LIME is unaffordable.
This is tough for students needing the Internet.
Typo. Make that 11 times.
SAT is terrible in the northeast (Calibishie). Most of the time the internet is slow, even though we pay for 3MB/sec bandwidth. Ant there have been ten total outages this month. Even the new modems with integral wireless made it no better. Sites take forever to be found and download and upload sometimes doesn’t work at all.
Unfortunately, the only alternative is unaffordable LIME.
this is good news time to switch to SAT, if they are offering faster internet speeds and Lime is slower I WILL switch to SAT
u should know d answer to give lime blows na as usaual
Just some facts for you to consider;
Fact 1:
As far as I know, SAT, does not have a “state of the art underground fiber network”, 99.5% of their fiber is aerial. Perhaps they are making reference to their off island link.
Fact 2:
This is not “the fastest Internet on Island”, LIME already offer their customers 100 megs down and 100 megs up, if they want, through Fiber to the Home and Dedicated Internet Access (FTTH and DIA).
Fact 3: Sat Internet is “not the most reliable internet service”. if they were to be honest, they would admit that their service is spotty and time to repair is in excess of two weeks. Perhaps what the press release should read is … “we hope to improve on quality of service to become the most reliable internet service provider on island”… that would make more sense.
Fact 4:
How can you include the phrase “surf…with little or no interruption” in the same sentence with “most reliable home internet service”… this is contradictory. Internet service is suppose to be uninterrupted. If there are interruptions, then they are bottle neck issues, line fault issues, traffic aggregation issues and or routing issues.
Fact 5:
This comment is very misleading… “We are confident that SAT’s unlimited fibre broadband service…” For a provider to call their network a true fiber broadband service it must start with fiber and end with fiber. If I am correct, and I know I am, the last mile to customer, or drop to customer is via 75ohm cable. I am also aware that in some locations where fiber is integrated with the existing coax trunk. How can this be true broadband service.
Anyway, I wish you well with your promotion. I believe faster speeds and better reliability is the way to go, especially in today’s technologically advancing age. While you are not quite there yet with the faster speeds and reliability, its a step in the right direction, competition is good, lets see what LIME and Marpin will offer to counter your proposal.
Lime Fibre to home is too expensive and limes current broadband service will not be able to compete with SAT.
Once Digicel fixes the line drops and the customer service it’s game over.
People don’t forget who kept prices high on broadband, and they never forget who drives it lower.
That is why lime is a distinct second to lime on mobile.
To Digicel I meant on mobile.
well said kobos……. SAT is going to kick *** to the curb, wen u hear that….. such negativity ( the commenter above urs)…. stupess…… SAT is moving up and improving slowly but surly alongside the bigger and better network on island….. DIGICEL…….
well in Dominica the fastest they offer is 8mbps…. which is SAT starting speed of 8mbps
exactly my point….. LIME fastest speed is 8MB for like $100 and something or $200 and something, lol. right now SAT first internet speeds is that same 8MB for like $85……. THINK ABOUT THAT!!!!! and SAT most fastest speed is 50MB can u just imagine that…. lol…. so know wat allu talking about ( negative commenters )
Mr or Mrs LIME it seems you guys afraid of some competition. As an internet customer with both LIME and SAT I think I can better put it into perspective.
FACT 1:
LIME is more reliable in terms of consistent uptime…i.e less outages
FACT 2:
SAT is already WAY cheaper even with their older packages.
FACT 3:
Both LIME and SAT have known that they could comfortable offer 50 Meg lines to customers for years with their connects to the various fibre connects in the Caribbean sea but chose to squeeze customers to add to their profits.
FACT 4:
Now that Digicel has acquired SAT, LIME is afraid of the packages that they are going to offer because “WE” the customers will pay for a 16 Meg line with SAT for the same price of a 2 Meg line with LIME.
Bottom line, regardless of all the technical details as a customer if SAT can consistently provide me with at least 12 Megs even if I pay of 16, I will permanently cut off LIME.
Go and tell that to LIME Management.
Well said, and from using SAT net it is not so bad, and I bet you Digicel is not going to offer faster net without a better infrastructure.
This is good news as we were paying 130.00 for 2mbps from lime……now It is possible to get 32mbps for the same price. This is a no brainer……thank you digicel now the only other thing is 4g for our phones….
just to clarify your point , you are not paying 130 for internet . you pay this for internet and phone.. besides lime has been lobbying to allow customers to have a dry pair to their homes so they could get internet only without dial tone but NTRC has been the blocker on this , that would have been a great start to have the customer’s bills lowered.
And that is LIME excuse for charging us all that money for internet services when they well know that they could offer much higher speeds with the connections to the fibre links running in the Caribbean?
…..and what will it be after the first three month?……$100plus?….but the speed is great; I just hope its reliable.
if the net faster and cheaper than what Lime has… screw Lime I getting SAT in that case….
Alas SAT I really hope this works out. I need internet service but I’m just so scared to apply because of the cable TV service I’m experiencing with you all now.
always knew there was a secrete reason y digicel so wanted to buy off sat. read carefully.
Like whatever, LIME alone to eat?
It was never a secret, the information is out there.
wat super fast. stupppsss.
