The Island Fun Tours, a tour company in Dominica, has partnered with RVR Aviation (Carrier) and Resort Air Services (DOT 380), a leading Jet Charter company from Fort Worth, Texas, to launch a brand new Jet Charter service from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Douglas Charles Airport, Dominica.

The services are scheduled to begin June 2, 2016 offering, for the first time, non-stop charter flights from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and Dominica, several times a week.

The nonstop flights will be able to offer consistent service at reasonable fares, and red carpet service, allowing passengers to travel to and from Dominica in less than 4 hours while assuring that passengers and luggage will arrive together.

The schedule should be released next week.

RVR jet charter service will add huge opportunities for travel plans, increased scheduling options, and provide growth within the Dominica travel industry. The jet service will provide Dominica with nonstop service, monitor passenger load requirements and adding flights as needed to support Dominica’s travel needs.

The program will work very closely with all officials in Dominica, the Tourist Ministry, as well as business groups and locals, to assist with specialized needs and services, while allowing RVR flights, pricing, and packages to target the needs of these passengers.

Wonderful in-flight services and a red carpet customs program will be part of the services. We are honored to partner with Resort Air Services and RVR Aviation, who has been awarded the Platinum Rated Argus Award for the highest safety record in the industry and ISBAO rating.

Tickets for flights and updated information will be available very soon and Resort Air Services will begin to book seats for the new jet charter service.

The Island Fun Tours will be the agent in Dominica; and there will be an online purchase program, local ticketing centers, and many incentive deals and packages throughout the year.

A test flight of the new jet charter flight landed at Douglas Charles Airport on Friday.

President of Island Fun Tours is Blair Webb.

As an American who absolutely loves Dominica, and used to fly down for vacation every year– I have not visited in ten years because there are no direct flights and I have to overnight in Puerto Rick BOTH ways! This doesn’t just add 4 days of travel to a vacation, but paying the baggage fees twice plus two nights in a hotel in Puerto Rico. With a family of four it just becomes ridiculously expensive. So it’s so much easier and less expensive to just go on vacation elsewhere. Lack of decent air service from the eastern USA is holding Dominica back. Tourism (real tourism, not cruise ships) bring money to the economy. If this charter works out, I would definitely look into using it to get to Dominica!

This would be a good idea if it was a commercial airliner, but it’s a charter jet. Personally, I’m not too comfortable with this gesture. It’ll also be all good if the fare is right, reliability, and safety.

Honestly, we don’t need charter flights from Dominica to Florida. This kind of thing should work with the PMH for emergency purposes. So probably, the Government, (and I am not calling names here), is setting up an emergency air ambulance.

Dominica cannot survive on charter jets to Florida. Dominicans don’t travel to the states that often. We travel to nearby Caribbean islands and when we decide to go further then we go on to the States. Come on, I am not saying its a bad initiative to introduce the airline, but from DOM to FL, and on charter? this sounds fishy.

    • May 9, 2016

@DomiChina, they didn’t say it’s a charter jet from Dominica to Florida. On the contrary, the flights would be from FLORIDA to DOMINICA. Of course, not many people travel out of Dominica, according to you; however, people DO travel from Florida and other parts of the States into Dominica. A WISE decision would be to engage other airlines as opposed to a CHARTER JET. THAT IS QUESTIONABLE.

Given the well known record of mr. Webb, and past fiasco with CIT I am very concerned that our government appears to have gone ahead promoting this new venture without reservation. Are they oblivious, out of touch or simply not concerned. Does the minister of tourism not know anything about mr. Webb’s track record? It says a lot about the credibility of their due diligence procedures.

The last time this guy said he was launching his passenger travel service DNO confirmed with Baduille of and Baduille confirmed that the airline was coming. That was 2014. Now more than ever DNO needed to confirm with Baduille and didn’t do so.
Another point of concern is that DNO made no mention of the previous article in 2014.
There is no doubt that we are generally not very intellectual nor analytical (sad but true) but the media has a responsibility to remain above the status quo and to be persistent in elevating the readers. An airline service is not an overnight thing or tu cho tu flam.
I honestly believe that this article and the promise of this airline service is just another insult and abuse on the people of Dominica. We are desperate in Dominica and desperate people fall for anything most times.
We need to step up and be proud and not allow ours to become ju ju. We deserve better

RVR Aviation Charter – Jet charter, management and …
    rvrair.com

RVR Aviation Charter is a professional, business, executive jet charter management and aircraft sales and acquisition company. RVR Aviation Charter provides first ..

Now here is the lie, the Dominican liar said they are partnering with this company, which has been in business for ten years.

To partner with me would mean to be a share holder, with money invested in a business or entity. How many Dominicans have that kind of money to charter a business jet from Miami to Dominica several times per week, no matter what name they use to operate in Dominica.

It is just another Dominica wishful thinking crap!

charter flights Charter flights Big Deal!

There is a difference in charting an aircraft to a commercial flight. When one charter an aircraft to travel a certain distance, full, half empty, or completely empty the owner (s) have to pay the complete cost to cover fuel, landing fees, and staff salary per hour.

How many people are going to use a such services unless they have a medical emergency in Dominica, or Dominica Miami. As far as I am concerned this is just another gimmick as last election when they get an artist to paint an aircraft wrapped in a Dominica flag! Charter in this case means the plane will be hired by someone for one specific group of people.

That’s what charter means. Another Dominica April first commess!

Only in Dominica. Several times per week that is a lot of charter flights.

Dominica needs its own jet service its own airline, Jamaica has its own, Air Jamaica. Why cant Dominica. The PM minister should look for outside investors like Richard Branson to purchase two small 50 passenger jets then go from there as a trial basis. Even one 727 would work and has been proven that one can land safely in Dominica. Maybe passenger service can be arranged with Amerijet cargo airline to carry passengers among with cargo to Dominica. What is holding Dominica back is people cannot get to Dominica in one day from the US mainland. I for one do not want to go through the hassle of overnighting in Puerto Rico or Antigua or arriving in Dominica late at night even though there is night landing. Another thing is Dominica needs an airport hotel so that when people arrive at night they can bed down, then go about their activities the next day. This is just my humble opinion. A locally owned small jet service from Florida direct to Dominica is long overdue.

What a SILLY press release. First of all, it’s a CHARTER flight, which means you have to somehow reach this so-called ‘airline’ to book your flight.

Secondly, if there are ONLY two people booked for a flight on their ‘schedule’, will they really fly you to Dominica? NO!

For those who have prior information about this person and his exploits that’s good for you but there are some people still remaining in Dominica who do not immediately jump to a negative judgement once it is something positive happening or about to happen in Dominica.

I am one of those who will keep an open mind until the man proves that he is the fraud he is being made out to be. I’m not sure how we reached as far as elections with the announcement of direct flights from Fort Lauderdale, but I sure do not wish to live that way, because WE ARE WHAT WE THINK and if all I can think of is negative things I will eventually reap the fruits of my negativity some way, some how, even if it is my children who feel the effects. I certainly do not want that on their heads.

    • May 7, 2016

Barbara if someone is not optimistic about something it does not necessarily mean that there is negativity. The fact that people have seen this before and it has turned out to be a scam , pessimism is quite understandable. Is it coincidence that we’ve seen this twice before and it is always on the heel of an election. Barbara do you really fall for these scams? Give us one reason why you believe that this is even real. You can ignore all the red tape required to get something like that into operation. Just give us one good reason to be optimistic.
Do you even think that this is sustainable. Who is going to pay $ 400-$500 to fly from elsewhere in the US to get to Fort Lauderdale to pay another $500 to Dominica. WhO would build a business on such premise.

        Lang Mama

Sucker I am certainly not! As I said I haven’t got a clue who this man is and I did hear about the 2014 initiative so I am not in a position to defend or condemn his project, but I think that I can ask Aren’t there Dominicans living in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and neighbouring Counties? Is there no one else who travels normally to Dominica from Miami International or Fort Lauderdale? Don’t people fly from New York and other States through Miami and Fort Lauderdale to San Juan and then to Dominica by Seaborne or LIAT? so what is so far-fetched and idiotic about them catching a direct flight to Dominica from Fort Lauderdale?

If you and others can believe that we can afford the construction of an international airport and passengers and airlines will be falling over each other to leave the regular hubs and fly to Dominica or all of a sudden there will be hundreds of Dominicans taking daily flights by British Airways and American Airlines etc.

      • Barbara Saunders
        May 9, 2016

        (continued….)
to England and France and America and Germany etc. who is the sucker? To ask you your own question, who would build a business on that premise? Sure, we would all love to have an international airport but it seems that no one thinks beyond the fantasy of an international airport and what would be involved in its maintenance and upkeep. In fact I gather that some of our neighbours have to pay the international airlines to fly to their airports to keep them open.

Lang Mama, I try to think objectively about everything. I do not allow myself to be blinded by dislike of or resentment against anyone to the extent that I lose all reason once there is the slightest inkling that something may happen to make them look good.

Perhaps you should really look twice at this proposal just in case it is genuine and could work, because Puerto Rico is coming dangerously close to being a failed state and it is a major transit point for many Dominicans to and from the US.

During the elections they would allow aircraft to land of that type and distance only on charter basis…something isn’t right…that service won’t last too long folks..

Charter basis means their visit would be for a short duration. It costs less.
Charter flights must be regulated. Why is it not regulated? Or is it in your mind?
I once flew by a charter flight to Antigua and back to Canada. This was an emergency visit to Dominica.
From Antigua, it flew to Barbados to let off some passengers.
On my way back, from Antigua to Canada, it stopped in Barbados to pick them up. It was a pleasant flight.
All airlines are supposed to be regulated. You can find out about this.
What I think about charter flights (which I did not investigate), at that time, to my disappointment, I was allowed only two weeks stay.
Cease your negativity. If you feel it is not regulated, you must look into it. This is what I would do or any sensible person.

Once bitten twice shy. Blair Webb tried that before with CIT, and airline that never took off in 2013. Ask the people in Soufriere what they think of Larry Love. He will not catch me.

It deserves a chance. You book your flight and you pay for also your return ticket. Then see what happens.
Note how LIAT has treated Dominicans and to know that Dominica is a shareholder. LIAT deserves some good competition.

Wonder what has DOMINICA done to some people!! Why all the hate?

There are some people who are consistently bearer of bad news. These should be avoided at all costs. Some try to make them think otherwise but they are too set in their negative ways. They will never change. I wonder how these people could ever obtain eternal salvation. There are no negative and evil-minded people in Heaven.

Island Girl…we are talking from experience. From the Day Skerrit became PM, Dominica has deepened into poverty and we have only seen allegations of corruption, well we know of the Bin and Fertilizer Bobols et etc. We do not trust Skerrit, we don trust his government. The sooner this Pm and his corrupt government take the outward flight of this new promised fight the better for Dominica.
Safe flight….good luck..do not come back

I would advise any potential passengers to be extremely cautious. Mr. Blair Webb and his new airline are not exactly unknown entities. He is the same person, who launched CIT (Caribbean Island Transport, a supposed Dominican airline) in 2013. However that airline never left the ground.

    • Face the Facts
      May 6, 2016

Because some of you Dominicans did not support him. If there were not ample passengers how do you expect it to get off the ground? He is trying another venture and partnered with some agencies.
Some people try a venture and it does not work. They think of how they could try another one with more potential. This is the way life works. Wish him well.

Blair Webb, who hails from Soufriere and better known in that locallity as “Larry Love”, is certainly persistent. I must give him that. This is the same gentleman, who launched an airline CIT (Caribbean Island Transport), for direct jet services between Melville Hall and Ft. Lauderdale at the end of 2013, which never took off! (see also the Dominican.net of 26 Nov. 2013). He apparently duped three Barbados companies with a proposed ferry scheme and left the island apparently owing money. He also registered a company in the U.K., Elite Yachts in Sept. 2009 , which was subjected to a court order to be compulsory wound up only a year later.
Sorry mr. Webb but I will play safe and not make a deposit for flights with your new airline. My grandfather always told me that a leopard does not change its spots and he has proven to be right on many occasions.
I hope to God, that our P.M. has not been persuaded to take an interest in this venture, privately or officially.

Ask yourself. Was this his fault? Were you personally affected?
You people give him bad reviews. How do you expect him to be successful?
Some Dominicans do not like to see their own progress and succeed.

Facts, would you go and spend your money at a restaurant that has bad reviews? You expect a place like that to be successful? Go ahead and buy a ticket from Larry Love. Put your money where your mouth is Facts.

I never stated I am Elizabeth. You who refer to me as Elizabeth. This is not Elizabeth. She can vouch for that. Stop giving people names which are not theirs.
A man – people deserve a second chance. Just imagine, if God forgives you, He gives you many more for your many sins and more to be committed until you die.

It is the devil’s stench that you smell which wants nothing good for you Dominicans. It is projected in your constant negativity.
Whenever there is a new venture, the devil will try to destroy it. Keep being influenced and see how much you, personally will be destroyed.

mr. Foerster , you are right is an Embrear 2000 ERJ135- LR (long range), registration no. N403RW, in the name of RVR Aviation (previously Wells Fargo Bank), built in 2000 (Brazil). Nice, clean aircraft. I suspect government plans are to use it for part VIP transport, since it has the right lay-out for that.

The usual weight these days with all airlines is either 40 to 50 lbs., Kilos(?) ; not much. This is the regulation.

The same Blair Webb that was behind the phantom airline that popped up just before the last General Elections and which never came to fruition after it was exposed as a lie? LOL LOL

As usual Dominicans are going to say great things are happening just like when Blair announced the phantom airline. Dominicans fall for anything. It is shameful.
