BUSINESS BYTE: LIME Observes Caribbean Wellness Day with Hike & FREE Health checks for customers

lime hikeStaff of Dominica’s leading telecommunications provider and students of the Dominica State College Business League braved the early morning showers on Saturday determined to deliver on their commitment to the observance of Caribbean Wellness Day.

The objective was to hike through the lush green Dominican forests and complete Segment 5 of the Waitukubuli National Trail. Building on a budding relationship with the DSC Business League, LIME invited the students to join in the hike as the company made its contribution to this year’s Caribbean Wellness Day observance on Saturday.

Several members of the LIME family and close to forty DSC students and their lecturer, gathered at LIME headquarters in Roseau from as early as 5:30am to head to Pond Casse to begin their journey which would climax at the Emerald Pool. With the support of a well-informed guide, a few jokes along the way, an occasional water break; and a moment to enjoy the beautiful scenery the team treaded on.
At the end of the three-hour walk, the group exited the trail and gathered at the Emerald Pool reception area to enjoy some fruits and other refreshments with some light laughter about the experiences of the hike.

LIME’s General Manager Jeffrey Baptiste who participated in Saturday’s hike said LIME has a responsibility to support activities which promote health on the island “Health ranks very prominently as one of our key community pillars and we wanted to ensure that we play our part in the successful observance of Caribbean Wellness Day” said Mr. Baptiste. The LIME GM also had high commendations for the students of the Dominica State College who turned out in large numbers for the early Saturday morning hiking experience.

In addition to the hike, members of the public were treated to health checks at the LIME Flagship store as part of Caribbean Wellness Day celebrations. The Dominica Cancer Society played their part by creating awareness of their October 4 ‘Walk for Cancer’ outside the LIME store.
