Local music group, SYMPLZ, won a recently concluded Digicel social media competition which asked its fans to submit their most creative jingle that would be used as part of its seventh anniversary celebrations in Dominica.

SYMPLZ was announced as the winner on Kairi FM during the “Digi Funtime” show, hosted by DJ Mystic. From the hundreds of submissions received, nine finalists were selected and were also given the opportunity to go on radio shows to tell listeners why they should vote for their jingle. The entry with the most votes would be selected as the winner of the competition.

In the end, SYMPLZ won the competition after amassing a total of 189 votes. The group received a number of prizes, including a Samsung Galaxy S3, EC$1500 cash, EC$200 worth of credit and the opportunity to have its jingle aired on local radio stations. The second place winner – with a total of 166 votes – was Sheldon Alfred, who received a DL600 and credit valued at EC$200. Members of SYMPLZ thanked Digicel for launching the competition which has opened up new avenues for young people like themselves to develop and showcase their talent.

Digicel Dominica Marketing Executive, Calvia Timothy, had this to say; “Digicel is giving talented young people with a passion for music a chance to showcase their talent to a wider audience, namely, through social media.

“We are happy that, through this competition, we could share this momentous occasion with our customers as they are the driving force behind our success in Dominica over the last seven years. We will continue to ensure that we deliver the best value, best service and best network to all our customers for many years to come.”
