BUSINESS BYTE: National Bank of Dominica launches Staff Volunteer Programme

Beyond Banking Volunteer T-Shirt MockUp

National Bank of Dominica Ltd. (NBD) will expand its commitment to the communities where its employees live and work through a new staff volunteer program launched earlier this month.

The programme dubbed “Beyond Banking” is a company-sponsored volunteer programme that focuses on community development and gives an opportunity to all employees to be involved in their communities.

“Through this programme NBD staff is working to make Dominica a better place, starting in their local communities,” said Michael Bird, Managing Director of NBD. “This programme gives employees a chance to work together to benefit a community. It will leverage the skills and enthusiasm of our staff to make a difference in their communities.”

Participating employees are invited to submit a proposal for a community-based project for consideration. The bank will fund one successful project quarterly. The winning staff member will lead a group of staff volunteers and community members to implement the project.

The Bank and its employees have traditionally played an integral role in community development beyond the realm of banking. Employees of NBD have reached out to organizations like the Operation Youth Quake, completed community projects during National Day of Service and coordinated an annual Christmas programme to spread joy to children in rural communities. The Bank anticipates that this programme will give staff the opportunity to extend their reach and participate in a more meaningful way to their own communities.
