The Dominica Manufacturers Association (DMA) reports having had a busy year, as it prepares to commemorate its first anniversary on Friday.
It says throughout the year it concentrated on conducting a situational analysis of the manufacturing sector in Dominica.
That involved convening two national workshops with relevant stakeholders.
The DMA reports also having partnered with the AID Bank in organizing a consultation on the impact of the OECS Economic Union, formalized the legal status of the Association and conducted site visits to small manufacturing operations in the southeast of the island.
These included the Coal Pot at Grand Bay and the Delices Toloman women’s group.
The Association says it is also collaborating with Invest Dominica Authority in developing draft legislation for the “Stimulation and Expansion of Manufacturing Activities” for consideration by Government.
A DMA release says the association is about to introduce a weekly radio programme to deal with issues related to the manufacturing sector and its contribution to the economic development of Dominica.
The organisation’s annual general meeting is scheduled for Thursday May 24th 2012 at the conference room of the Windsor Park Stadium.
Three pioneers of manufacturing in Dominica are to be recognized there.
