Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says Dominica is interested, as any other Caribbean country, in the outcome of the ongoing CLICO investigation.
In a brief statement to the Sunday Sun in Barbados the Prime Minister said on Saturday, ““We want it to be thorough, transparent and unambiguous in how we remedy this situation and also how we effect measures to avoid its recurrence.”
According to the Sunday Sun Skerrit is also hopeful that the matter find its way unto the agenda of the next CARICOM Heads of Government meeting.
“It is that important,” the Sunday Sun reported Skerrit as saying.
The whole matter surrounding CLICO has been gaining the attention of leaders across the Caribbean. Last week Prime Minister of St. Kitts Denzil Douglas said from what is unfolding in the investigation, it appears some persons are definitely going to be pursued for fraud.
Recently Prime Minister of St. Vincent, Ralph Gonsalves, said the whole fiasco has the ability “to wreck CARICOM” and Antiguan Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer said it is the worst thing to happen to his country since the Allen Stanford debacle.
Skerrit cannot be taken seriously. He ”doublespeaks.” He cannot fool me. He was a close confidant of Leroy Parris and the man is reported as financing DLP’s selection campaign. Now, the pressure is growing on Parris and CLICO, he tries to give the region the impression that he is concerned about the cheating of CLICO’s policyholders.
de man hiding from de law… i hope when he is caught and interviewed, he will spill the beans on that sorry excuse of a prime minister we have
We must also address the question of political parties receiving campaign funds from failed companies into which our Social Security have invested millions of hard-working contributors. In essence that campaign money came from these contributors. They lost out and it is a matter, of public concern as to how their money was spent. Under the circumstances it is particularly unfortunate for a beneficiary of Clico’s largesse to proclaim:” It’s none of your damned business. Go to hell!”. Our own, local media are worthy of an explanation too.
why is someone give a thumbs down for a true statement..
i guess that person did not lose any money in clico.

“Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica has appointed Mr. Leroy Parris, Chairman of the CLICO Group of Companies a Goodwill Ambassador for Dominica with responsibility for Research and Promotion of Trade and investment opportunities.”

“Government rewarded Parris with a particularly friendly business environment and his company will soon finance construction of a new housing development in Dominica. Parris was also named a ‘Goodwill Ambassador’ who will help attract investment to the country.”
I hope that Mr Skerrit will be “thorough, transparent and unambiguous” during the investigations. Prime Ministers Ralph Gonsalves and Baldwin Spencer have made it clear that they were never friends of Leroy Parris, but Mr Skerrit appointed him as Dominica’s Ambassador At Large and his is in possession of our Diplomatic Passport.. I await…
