Employees of the regional airline LIAT today walked off their jobs, potentially crippling the airline’s operations.
Employees from several departments including accounting, mechanics and flight operations downed tools shortly after 9:00 am and aviation officials said that the absence of flight operations staff could result in documents critical for clearing flights for departure not being processed.
They said that the action, if continued through the day, could shut down the airline’s regional network
DISAPOINTED .OMG THAT GETTING TO THE WORKERS NOW THATS WHY EVERYONE STIKING AND LEAVING LIAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HMMM NEED TO DO MUCH BETTER LIAT!! COME ONE
This has always being a major issue at liat.
airline does need a massive clean up, there are too many folks regional who believe that its their estate and contribute little to LIAT…
LIAT will alway be around but like a crippled horse!!
DA cannot exclusively rely on LIAT for flights into DA. We need to encourage other airlines to fly into DA. If LIAT were to go under what is DA going to do?
Which airline would you suggest we encourage to come.
If there is money to be made the airline will seek landing rights. If they cannot make money or can make more elsewhere, no amount of pleading and begging will make them come. This is not politics, this is business.
LIAT is in business only because it is subsidized by the governments of SVG, B’dos and AGA.
CAL is in trouble, Air Jamaica ran out of money and was hugely indebted, Winair had financial problems, Carib Star was losing all kinds of money. Do you see a pattern here?
The Caribbean governments have to pay subsidies to AA to fly into their airports. Trinidad pays Virgin to fly to Tobago.
It is easy to say “get another airline to serve Dominica”, except it is far more difficult to accomplish that without huge amounts of money being paid out these airlines to land in your country.
I feeling it all now I’m in antigiua waiting 7 hrs for a connecting flight to Dominica and ontop of that imigration giving me a hard time Richie spice was right when he sang the plane land trust me he wasent lying
Well well well. We have to go back to cannoe. All that is part of the NEXT LEVEL. Well done Liat employees.
We going down slowly,is a good thing Charlo not for the workers, he would have jump
Onboard.
LIAT or LIE-AT,the only airline Dominica depends on for air travel, what a shame for Dominica. That’s what happen when u have backward thinking people running the country,E.O Leblanc would do a better job although he was a leader of the 60s.
THANK GOD MY MAN IS HOME SAFELY!!!LIAT NEEDS AN OVERHAULING, TRUST ME!!!
Thank God LIAT bring your man home safe.Let the region see how importat LIAT is.
