March 31 deadline for generator owners

Persons with generators of 20 kilowatts and above, registered to the Dominica Electricity Services Company (DOMLEC), have been given a March 31 deadline to obtain a license from the Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC).

Executive Director of the IRC Lance McCarsky told a press briefing earlier this week that the Electricity Supply Act states that his establishment should register all generators connected to DOMLEC’s bill.

The IRC is expected to setup a database with the information at the end of the exercise. McCarsky hopes that no one will be left out of the registry.

Dominica News Online will provide further details on the IRC press briefing in a subsequent report.

Unless the authorities can provide a valid reason as to why this is necessary, I am fully in agreement with the previous comments. This sounds like a money maker to me.

Goodness me! what? .. why would i do such a dumb thing like that. People do not use electricity to run a generator, so what the hell do they have to do with that? only in Dominica will they come up with such poppicock. No one should adhere to that stupidity. Any one registering their generator is stupid. ..come in your house and confiscate ur property?

This generator registration is nonsense. First of all those with generators do not have them running constantly. Why should they have to register them, to me I could see some hungry individuals trying to make some money. Why can’t we be satisfied with what we have. It really doesn’t matter you are leaving everything on this earth anyway.

Please stop this craziness and let the people live.

DOmlec ..Its this rubbish that prevents people from getting alternative electricity sources like generators and solar power.. As long as the man can’t make money off of it then u know he gonna have a problem.

Until people challenge these stupid laws and regulations we will be forced to accept them all. This is pure stupidity, its not like the generator always on.

@ Staffy: You don’t know how right you are on this one. It’s the same thing that’s happening in England. Regulatory Commissions don’t always work in the best interest of the masses.

I think that it is nonsense to have to register your generator with and body if people was getting good service from the electric company in Dominica we would not have to buy any generator. I talk about safty is just another nonsense. and control in our small country. people should refuse to register and this law should be repel.
