The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has presented the 2015 Best Corporate Citizen Award Among ECCU Commercial Banks to the National Bank of Dominica Ltd (NBD) for its outstanding contribution to the overall development and welfare of the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
The ECCB initiated, the Best Corporate Citizen Award Among ECCU Commercial Banks in 1997.
The award recognises commercial banks, which operate within the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU), for implementing, participating in and promoting programmes designed to improve the quality of life of the people they serve. Banks are assessed for demonstrating social responsibility in the areas of: Educational Development; Community Outreach and Social Services; Environmental Awareness; Sports; Cultural Development; Customer Service; and Financial Education and Empowerment.
Good Corporate Citizen Awards are presented to the banks which have made outstanding contributions in the respective categories, while the Best Corporate Citizen Award is presented to the bank which demonstrates significant contribution to the overall development of the ECCU through human resource development and sustained community outreach.
The 2015 Best Corporate Citizen Awards Ceremony was held at the ECCB Headquarters, St Kitts and Nevis, on 4 November, following the presentation of the 20th Sir Arthur Lewis Memorial Lecture.
The National Bank of Dominica Ltd also received the Good Corporate Citizen Awards for Educational Development and Cultural Development.
The other banks which received Good Corporate Citizen Awards were:
• Bank of Saint Lucia Ltd, which received the Good Corporate Citizen Award for Financial Education and Empowerment;
• Grenada Co-operative Bank Ltd, which received Good Corporate Citizen Awards for Environmental Awareness and Customer Service;
• Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited, which received the Good Corporate Citizen Award for Sports; and
• The Bank of Nova Scotia Antigua, which was presented with the Good Corporate Citizen Award for Community Outreach and Social Services.
The awards were presented by Mrs Ionie Liburd-Willett, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Government of St Kitts and Nevis.
Congratulations to NCB under the able leadership of Mr Edwards, a citizen of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
