New airline to offer flights from Florida to Dominica

citVisitors to Dominica from the US mainland will soon have another choice of travel as a new airline will be offering services directly from Fort Lauderdale to Dominica.

CIT Airlines (Caribbean Island Transport) has said on its website that it will begin offering flights to Dominica in January 2014.

“CIT Airways is the national carrier of Dominica offering non stop flights to and from Fort Lauderdale direct to the island of Dominica. The company is a brand new company set up in Florida and is owned by Dominica nationality to help build the country’s economy while providing a viable solution to discover Dominica,” the company’s website said.

Head of the Dominica Airport and Sea Port Authority (DASPA), Benoit Bardouille, has confirmed that the airline is in discussion with the government of Dominica.

“Yes, we are in discussion,” he told DNO.

When asked whether the airline’s target of commencing flights in January 2014 is feasible, Bardouille said only, that the local authorities have to make sure “all the I’s are dotted and T’s crossed.”

Marketing director of the airline, Jeffrey Wade, told DNO that negotiations with the government are in the final stages.

“We have a meeting scheduled in Dominica next week with the prime minister as well as the Minister of Transport,” he said.

It appears that the response to the airline has been good.

“Emails and Facebook posts are pouring from individuals from the US and Dominica wanting this to be a huge success.  We will go above and beyond to make sure our passengers have a quality flight,” Wade said.

CIT Airways said its hub will be located a the Melville Hall Airport, “and our airline is staffed with experienced and courteous professionals to provide an exceptional level of customer service to our valued customers. The management team are (of) Dominica(n) nationality as well as United States nationality and has a proven track record since 1975 in the airline and hospitality industry.”

CIT said its aircraft is a Boeing 737-300 and carries 140 passengers with 128 in Economy and 12 in business.

“All passengers are allowed 23 kilos (50.6 pounds) of luggage free plus one carry-on piece of luggage that does not exceed an approximate size of 22″x14″x9″ and must fit in an overhead bin or underneath the seat in front of you. Excess luggage can be paid for directly at our ticket counter in Fort Lauderdale or in Dominica,” the airline’s website said.

Light refreshments will be served for free and alcohol can be purchased along with a few other items and in the business class passengers will enjoy a VIP meal with unlimited free alcoholic beverages.

The airline is real. At least I check the Florida state department records and I found it. It is registered under the name CIT Airways, LLC. It’s principal address is in Fort Lauderdale and the registered agent seems to be attorneys based in Miami.

Their documents were filed on November 8, 2013 and the managing members are Blair Web and Jeffrey Wade. This is all public record and easily found with a 30 second search.

@VB. It is so easy to register a company in Florida. You only need your name address and Social Security number. The process takes about 5 minutes.

Truth be Told, it would have been nice for you to have done exactly what you recommended, because that is exactly what The Baptiste did, and not from second hand sources, I went straight to the company’s current persons listed as top brass.
My post is not based on heresay, or propaganda, it is based on factual information provided by senior participants. I did not include all that I learnt at this time, but waiting for the official news release from the company promised in two weeks time to see whether it will contain, or whether journalists will extract from the spokes person the extent of the government’s involvement.
So please, inform yourself and the rest of your gossip mongerors before making such remarks. That is why I was able to post the telephone number, as well as a name. Maybe you and your pervayers of these malicious attacks on people who ask genuine questions, should use the information provided to ask questions and inform yourselves.

lol @ some people in here…for instance, @Malatete, you say “As far as I know CIT of the U.S.A. have been in the aircraft leasing business for quite some time and I guess that is where the connection is.” ARE YOU SERIOUS? Dude, CIT Group and CIT Airlines are two different companies with absolutely no affiliation with each other – one is a multi-billion dollar company that has been in existence for 100 years, the other half a month. Do you really think that the board of directors of CIT Group, whose primary business model is leasing equipment, not only aircraft, would decide to take one plane and establish an airline to Dominica? really? REALLY? Is it asking too much if I suggest that you understand thoroughly what it is that you read before you say anything?

amazing, instead of roundly applaud the initiative, as usual our D/A possie stabbing each other in the back and sides to make it a non starter before it begins. The idea of a non stop from FTL to DOM was pitched as far back as 2005, however they had to get approvals and FAA etc. It was basically a carrier for Ross U, hence my (much) earlier comment, this will of course do a lot towards increasing the much needed stay over visitor sector we’ve been fighting for for so many years. Instead of run yer mouths, like the usual crabs in a barrel, why not share the link and spread the news. Being too busy is better than twiddling thumbs looking for business. …now if the plan is at this stage it is ready to launch. As an FYI, the first night landing from the US direct was an election special. So it has been done before.

THAT’S WHY WE NEED ANOTHER AIRLINE TO FLY TO DOMINICA.

Severe flight disruptions throughout the Region as LIAT pilots take protest action
    By TDN Wire Staffbr> November 06, 2013, 9:40 A.M

    liat
Scores of LIAT flights remained grounded Wednesday.
Roseau, Dominica (TDN) — Scores of LIAT flights grounded to a halt yesterday and today as LIAT pilots took strike action to protest the suspension of one of their pilots in Barbados.

Hundreds of passengers trying to leave Dominica on Tuesday were forced to return home after they were told that several LIAT flights had been suspended. The nightmare continued early Wednesday as additional flights were cancelled.

LIAT issued a public statement listing several flight cancellations and allowed passengers to rebook for up to one week later without stating any reason for the delays.

However, news reports out of Barbados revealed that the problem started when a pilot refused to fly his plane because he was not happy with the technical inspection and some discrepancies in the technical report.

That pilot was immediately suspended and when the head of the pilot’s union tried to intervene he too was suspended. At that point other pilots refused to take to the skies effectively grounding the entire fleet.

Early Wednesday morning, LIAT announced that the suspended pilots were reinstated but they expected the delays to continue for some time.
Meanwhile, scores of Dominican passengers trying to return to Europe, the United states and elsewhere remained grounded with many blaming LIAT for the delays and calling for increased competition within the Region.

This is concerning and something is wrong…..The website does not even say ” Copyright” and ” All Rights Reserved” to protect the website use.
This is a very low budget and non- authentic.

The level of financial investment this type of aircraft and business takes, the website which is the product package offering is not reflective of a credible investment.

Another thing stands out in the Ad ” A New Airline in Town”…Local marketing jargon used by an INTL airline which need to fill the majority of its seat with INTL Tourist visitors.

    This does not smell right!

140 passengers? Garcon, is Melville Hall ready to handle this, seeing the time they take to process the much smaller no. of passengers they deal with today, and then not altogether on one flight. Just imagine, check-in and then a separate line to pay that damned departure tax, next6 security and then the departure lounge itself, which has inadequate seating for this, not to mention the complete lack of catering. You can’t even get a beer or a cup of coffee in there. If this new airline is really going to operate I will be very happy but some drastic changes have to made at Melville Hall before then.

An international airport must be able to handle both customs and immigration. Even Canefield airport is an international airport. Size doesn’t matter.

    • Malatete
      November 21, 2013

Strictly speaking Melville Hall is an international airport in that it serves destinations outside of Dominica, as opposed to a domestic airport, which would cater for internal flights only. In that sense Canefield (DCF) is also an international airport with its own customs- and immigration staff

      November 24, 2013

In my humble opinion I think the terminology is used here to differentiate from a private airport, not so much in reference to size. In that case it is an international airport because flights come in from all over to that airport. I may be wrong.

This is good and a positive start (yes its a start.
People need to stop thinking in their own inclaves. Every news on this site brings comments about the government, how is this?
However, I do fear that for a “national carrier” it will have difficulty unless the Dominican Government (whoever they are) is directly involved.
And frankly I cannot for the life of me understand why Dominica cannot do this itself. All you need is one aircraft. Step by step.
Saying all that, the country will need to go on some course…Because Antigua is rude and so is Barbados, but we’re not that far off. We need to change our sense of service provision for returning visitors and tourist.
I would like to see the DA government abandon LIAT and fund its own aircraft.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! An airline operating from 515 E.Olas Blvd. in Ft Lauderdale ( (suite 120).. HAHAAH! Alas! I feeling sorry for our people.

America is no longer that big that we can just throw addresses out there. We live here, we know better. This is very questionable. Yes we want a direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Dominica but not at any cost. Airline companies who are very questionable is also very questionable to take a ride with. People, although we want progress, let us be prudent in what we seek. This does not sound good at all. As much as I do not like driving from Ft.Lauderdale to Miami to catch a flight, I will not take such a flight operating from Las Olas Blvd.

    November 21, 2013

I know this comment will be approved when the interest in the topic has waned but I will make it nevertheless.
First up I am concerned about the quality of the reporting, for example, has the reporter determined whether the relevant licenses by the US agencies have been approved, or even if the process has started? Is this a charter company or a regular scheduled airline? How much is the government of Dominica involved? What is the cost of the fare , when will the schedule start?
Available information indicates that this CIT Airline conveniently commencing operations in January just before or around the carnival time (about the planned election)will be operating through a charter company for about six months using a Boeing 737-300 then move to a de Havilland type aircraft.
The charter company is interesting because during the last election a charter company was used to transport labor party only supporters to vote
All the journalists have to do is call Mr. Blair Webb at telephone 1 954-935-7641 to have checked the information, and find out how much is the government’s participation, and why no participation in the other airline other than LIAT moving people from the US.

Please respond to the content and ignore the spelling errors if any

The web site alone tells a story of Tim Tim bwa ches. I cannot put any model together that would indicate that this airline is sustainable neither can I see how this airline could even get off the ground. an airline company registered 12 days ago is forecasting flight operation in January – two months. This is not how the FAA works.

From a business perspective this PR effort is terrible. Even the statement of qualification has grammatical errors; the web site is seem like it came from the bosom of Canal street.

I wonder whether or not the new hummingbird airline prompted someone or some people to insult our basic common sense.

You have every reason to be cautious. This airline has no track record and was only incorporated on 8 Nov. of this year by attorneys in Miami( Spiegel & Utrera), company file no. L13000157679. The company’s principal address at 515 E.Olas Blvd. in Ft Lauderdale ( (suite 120), known as the Sun trust Centre, is an accommodation address used by many other companies. I hope my misgivings are misplaced as we really could do with such a service in Dominica.

Since you’re so “pragmatic” why don’t you write to the airline company and give them ideas how to ” get off the ground”. Its people like you who are “pragmatic” that keeps this island from trying to develop. Instead of trying to contribute you tear down- say how things could be better, say how YOU can make a bad situation worst. we cry everyday about LIAT, about no jobs in the country- this is a way to help investors get straight to Dominica, this is competition for LIAT so that they can get their shit together!-can’t you see that. so since you know so much about the FAA why don’t you write to them about your concerns! There is no way that this airline could have gotten a license if the FAA hadn’t signed off on it. its “PRAGMATICS” like you who need to stop talking and start making a difference!

Though I support this ploy, I did not hear anything in this article about the airline seeking FAA approval. In order to do this an airline must first seek FAA approval for routing. Unless the airline is licensed in the U.S.A with a special agreement with the Dominica government, that is possible. Also, the airline could be an airline that has already been established, but is a D.B.A. There are many ways around a circumstance.

We must all look at this logically, while there is a probability that this may be true. It does not make any sense. First and fore most… I highly doubt that a Melvin hall airport can accommodate a Boeing 737 regularly. Website looks like it has just been made. Where are the financial records of this firm? I also highly doubt there are Dominican born investors with a NET worth at 60m+ US dollars. Even If they had that amount they still wouldn’t be investing more than half their fortune into an unfeasible idea that seems to have no chance at success. Not even the richest man on the planet would do that if he knew he wasn’t going to get a return on his investment. :-|

The only logical thing in that whole diatribe is the fact that a 737 cannot land at Melville Hall. As for Dominicans not having a net worth of 60+ Millions, well collectively we send upwards of 400 million to DA each year without which Dominica would not exist.
You nor I know what peoples NET worth is, yet you judge and worst still belittle us, all of us.

Let’s put politics aside for once and salute the individuals of CIT.

Many of us have been abroad developing someone else’s country for quite some time now. And as such, many Dominicans has been highly successful and financially secured.

Daily, when I turn to DNO, I read of the achievements of Dominicans around the globe. Therefore,it is only fitting to assist Dominica with our expertise. Really, it’s our future.

Let us all celebrate this initiative as another excellent achievement and give CIT our full patriotic support.

Please correct me if i’m wrong. The runway at Melville Hall is 5,761 ft and Wikipedia says the Takeoff field length for a Boeing 737-300 is 7546 ft. I know there has been improvements in the efficiency of these aircraft over time but is this possible for commercial service to/from the US? I certainly hope so because i will be the first on on board. Now the same Wikipedia says that a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 requires 8000 feet of runway while that same aircraft landed at Melville Hall a few weeks ago. You guys remember the Fifa plane? Just throwing that out there…. We also saw a Boeing 737-200 land in December of 2009.

People do not understand, this is just a facade..a fantasy…it will not happen..for the same reason red jet never got to fly to the US. Any airline flying to and from the us must have its Hub approved by the FAA. Redjet attempted to get Barbados’ Grantley Adams intl. airport and they did not get approved. Dominica will NOT get approved in its current state. Dominica does not have instrument landing, you can only fly there when you can see the runway…you can’t have low visibility and attempt to land there. These people need to stop toying with the hearts and minds of the people of dominica, because we need this….we really do.

    November 21, 2013

Hmmmmmmmm. This is a wonderful idea and initiative which we all would love to work as Dominicans living outside of our country. However I have one big concern. Firstly are these aircraft able to safely land and take off from a strip as short as ours? I guess that it will be said yes. Also are these aircraft going to approach the strip for landing from above the trees or will it be from the sea? It seems to me that having to land an aircraft with so many passengers and so much more weight, that the aircraft would have to approach while landing at a significantly faster speed than the smaller aircraft. As a lay person, I would think that this would mean moving further down the runway before touchdown and touching down at a faster speed than the smaller aircraft. Taking into consideration the weight of the aircraft and the speed, the aircraft would then have to brake significantly harder in order to come to a stop. This in my view would be a concern in relation to run-off in the event of an emergency. Approaching from the sea, particularly if you have wind blowing inland from the sea, would also present its challenges due to the tailwind as the would be pushing the aircraft along as they attempt to slow down and again could present serious problems. Recently we had a gentleman call in to a radio station talking of a scary experience on an aircraft which landed from the sea as it landed at night and could not approach from land. He said that the aircraft travelled almost halfway down the runway before touchdown and had to brake really hard in order to stop, to the point where the aircraft was swaying from side to side as the pilot struggled with maintaining control. This is what is of concern to me. If this aircraft was one of these larger ones, what would have occurred considering the speed, weight and run off distances which the pilots would have been dealing with? Can someone answer these questions for us please? Great idea and the best of luck if these issues can be ironed out….

  72. November 21, 2013

Who knows if this is not what some of the money from Petro Caraibe and the sale of our passports went into. There is so much corruption taking place at the highest level. The airline needs to be investigated. Why not tell us who the owners are? They have so much money now that they into airline business now? What next will they get involved in? I smell a rat.

  73. November 21, 2013

Some years ago,one of our lawyers owned an airline coming in to Canefield airport. We would like to know the names of the owners. Just like the villas, they may give us some bogus owners.
Dominica has some people that have become millionaires by night, they may just be the owners. Today in Dominica, we see one set of people owning properties all of a sudden. They own this, they own that. Based on the information, I would not be surprised if one or some of these are the owners. We may not know the true story because they know how to conceal things and how to put the names of other people on property to conceal the real owners.

    • true
      November 21, 2013

757 landing in Melville Hall? you have no idea what a 757 is, it is bigger than a 737 they are talking about.

      • Anonymous
        November 21, 2013

I know that it is bigger than a 737, but the 757 is also one of the most capable airliners produced. The main requirement was an airliner capable of exceptional hot and high take-off performance. It can almost be considered the most overpowered commercial airliners with a thrust to weight ratio of 0.341. In addition to your claim the 757-200 is also larger than a 737, CRJ , MD Rejional series of aircraft yet it has a shorter takeoff roll.

As far as I know CIT of the U.S.A. have been in the aircraft leasing business for quite some time and I guess that is where the connection is.
The aircraft they plan to use is/are on the U.S. register and would be certified by the F.A.A. Although the -300 version is not the latest version of this workhorse of the sky, there are plenty of them still flying around and it is eminently suitable for operations in/out of Melville Hall.
Ft. Lauderdale is an excellent choice, not only for connections within mainland U.S.A. but it is also increasingly being served by European airlines. Budget airline AirBerlin (with participation of Etihad of Abu Dabi) is already flying there for example and from July 2014 another budget arline “Norway” is scheduled to commence a twice weekly service between London Gatwick and Ft. Lauderdale, using the brand new Dreamliner Boeing 787 (in addition to services to New York and LA from as low as £149, approx. E.C.655, one way).
This will provide much needed competition for the likes of BA and Virgin and I hope that CIT will run their operation in the same vein and give LIAT a serious run for their money.
The downside is that with reduced traffic from N. America out of Puerto Rico, Seabourne may find itself struggling to maintain its current direct service to San Juan.

Nowhere has it been written that the company has been in existence for well over 30 years.

Going further, when the company makes mention of 1975 in the following quotation, it speaks of the experience that persons making up the management team has in the airline and hospitality industries: “The management team are Dominica nationality as well as United States nationality and has a proven track record since 1975 in the airline and hospitality industry.”

Just a thought for discussion. I am looking for a validated site but for now, on a pilots forum I got this info. Website: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/tech_ops/read.main/184463/

“I can give you figures for the required landing distances of a B737-300:

60t (above our max. of 57.6)
    dry runway: 1710m (flaps 40), 1790m (flaps 30)
    wet runway: 1970m, 2050m
    dry autoland: 2020m, 2100m
    wet autoland: 2280m, 2360m

    34t
    dry runway: 990m (flaps 40), 1030 (flaps 30)
    wet runway: 1140m, 1180m
    dry autoland: 1300m, 1340m
    wet autoland: 1450m, 1490m

Conditions: Sea Level, ISA, Zero Wind, Anti-skid operative, Automatic Speed Brakes”

SO under optimal conditions we need ~ 5800 ft of runway to land. If it’s wet, you need ~6700ft to land. According to World Aero data, after the improvements to the runway, Melville Hall is about 5,761 ft in length. Frequent rain, frequent winds mean sub-optimal conditions. So this means the boeing needs to make PERFECT landings every time, using almost ALL of the runway everytime with no wiggle room, EVERYTIME. DO I trust that???? DO you????

I don’t know who dem people think they fooling. I really find this suspect – that’s not to say that it’s not a possibility, I find this a bit too convenient and my research into the company tells me it’s only 12 days old, according to its business records, with no financial information documents with the state of FL where it’s registered. If it looks like a duck, it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, guess what – it is a duck.

by the way, Boeing lists the required runway length for the 737/300 at 4,580ft/1,396m under normal conditions. HOWEVER, the takeoff length is what’s even more critical – it’s listed at 6,500ft/1,981m. You can get that data directly from Boeing – here’s a pdf link: http://www.boeing.com/assets/pdf/commercial/startup/pdf/historical/737classic_perf.pdf. If that doesn’t work, try this: http://www.boeing.com/boeing/commercial/startup/737classic.page

        November 21, 2013

Based on that, St. Thomas does not qualify to have a 737 landing there as it runway is exactly 7000ft. What you are talking about is the Maximum takeoff weight. Commercial Airlines never takeoff at the maximum as they are carrying people and are not all cargo. This would apply if the cabin was filled with cargo.

      November 21, 2013

Well, SXM runway legnth is 7546ft, STT runway is 7000ft. Dominica has more than enough room. It all depends on the variant they are using and only the legacy 737 will not make our runway legnth as they did require more length. Amerijet lands in Domincia heavy and it uses a legacy 727 which requires more runway than a 737 does.

      • warma
        November 21, 2013

I don’t know what version of math you use, but my version tellsm me that 7000ft is more than 5700ft, which means that if, for argument’s sake, 5700ft is the required length for safe take-off, then it stands to reason that 7000ft is more than adequate. Furthermore, since you “know” so much, you ought to know that comparing Amerijet and this airline is nonsense – the rules for cargo aircraft that generally have a skeleton crew, 2 – 4 generally, are completely completely different that the rules for ANY passenger aircraft, let alone one carrying well over 100 passengers. If you don’t know that then you know squat.

Aye, Domininique! How many times have we been taken for a ride! Don’t be too excited!! Dominicans please do not believe the hype. There is a certain Dominican Blair Webb associated with this venture as CEO, according to DNO. From some research online there is also one Blair Webb associated with Dominica who has been linked to a few failed business ideas and one Blair Webb (is it the same person?) also linked with questionable business deals. One business is called Elite Yacht Club Ltd which got liquidated. There was also one Blair Webb there who was Director of Dominican Nationality. Then in 2005 there was the Product Development Director of Remac Tours, one known as Blair Webb. In Barbados The company promised a regional Ferry, very sensational, which never materialized. The new launch date was never announced. This was reported in Caribbean Net news. Coincidentally, one Blair Webb also left the island of Barbados under allegations that money was not available to cover the amount written in a check written by a one Mr Blair Webb. Brief Ferry deal in tangled web
    by Neville Clarke

“AT LEAST three business-houses in Barbados are now counting their losses after an expatriate businessman, claiming to have interests in a ferry-boat service, left the island without paying monies owed.” it was quoted. Again, my statement is just a personal observation based on internet research available to all (keeping DNO on a good footing legally)

Folks, I have 2 words for you – due diligence. Before you buy into this, you must do a little research. I did, and here’s what I’ve uncovered within 30 minutes.

The address that CIT Airways offers as it’s offices are located in a nondescript SunTrust Bank office building. There is no retail office where you can purchase tickets. CIT Airways only came into existence 12 days ago, when it filed its registration papers with the Florida Dept of State Division of Corporations – here is a link to their Articles of Organization (http://search.sunbiz.org/Inquiry/CorporationSearch/ConvertTiffToPDF?storagePath=COR\2013\11130248785.Tif&documentNumber=L13000157679). The company has not filed any financial reports either. It lists only 2 people as officers – Blair Webb and Jeffrey Wade. It’s website was only registered 2 days before its company filings, November 6th, and was done by a Kathlene Conway with an address in a small house on a residential street in West Hempstead, NY. The website if obviously amateurish in design with no tangible information. The lawyers who filed the company papers, who are also listed in the company filings as their agent, Spiegel & Utrera, on a scale from A+ to F with F being terrible, has an ‘F’ rating from the Better Business Bureau (http://www.bbb.org/south-east-florida/business-reviews/attorneys/spiegel-and-utrera-pa-in-miami-fl-27003620). And I am yet to find any FAA data.

Now, I have a few questions – what kind of consultations has this “airline” been having with the Dominica government? An “airline” so young with no assets, how is it they have an aircraft and how do they expect to start service so soon? Airlines take a long time to get organized – there’s a crew to get, federal regulations to comply with, FAA certifications, leasing arrangements to work out – the list is numerous. This “airline” started 12 days ago – what’s going on here? Is this a ploy to fool Dominicans and satisfy their long-held wishes that we get better air connections with mainland America? Who are these 2 people listed as managers? Something stinks here.

I must applaud Mr. Lennox Linton. Approximately three months ago, he was appointed leader of the UWP and became a full fledge politician. Since then, their has been a significant change in the manner Skerrit and his Government does things. For instance, the Labor Party Politicians appear to be talking less mapuis during their political exchanges. Mr. Linton talked about an aircraft, now we are going to have CitAirways. He talked about 5000 jobs in three years, now Skeritt along with all Ministers of Government talk about nothing else but jobs. He talked about boats for the transportation of our produce, Skeriit has informed Dominicans that very soon, Dominica will have its own boat. Even DBS Radio has jump on board, they carried a news item concerning the UWP meeting in Portsmouth on Sunday. Expect early next year, we will see a meet the people tour by Government, maybe twenty one constituencies in fifteen days. Their have been significant movements as regards the repair of roads, schools, police stations, millions of dollars falling like rain on the farmers etc. The Red Clinic has become more popular then ever and the non participation in the next General Elections of two Ministers of Government, Austrie and Ian have been put on hold according to the Sun.

“The management team are Dominica nationality as well as United States nationality and has a proven track record since 1975 in the airline and hospitality industry.”

They say seeing is believing, and although I see what appear to be an aircraft painted in Gold, black, and Green, I am not convinced!

Here is my reason: in the quote above, and according to the management claim, this company has been in business since 1975. How come an airline is in business for a matter of thirty-eight (38) years, in the United States, flying as a Caribbean Airline, and today is the first we are hearing about.

I did a Profile, on this so called Airline, and nothing came up, that leaves me to wonder, if they are in business in the United States, how come this airline is not registered in the United States of America. Now results form the profile takes me to transportation by Ferry in Dominica, and seems to associated with the name “Wade.”

If they are talking about a Ferry service in Dominica, I can understand, however, to try and impress the public that this airline has a “proven track record, since 1975” is a blatant lie. How can something which does not exists have a track record?

When someone compound it by making the claim that the team involves Dominican, and American nationalities, they confirming that this so called airline has been in existence for thirty-eight years, which is blatant confounded lie!

I am not suggesting that if a hundred people can get to fly to Dominica directly from any place in America, is not a plus, however, to suggest that snacks will be served to some travelers, while food and free rum will be served to others is a taboo from the inception; when we talk about snacks, we might well consider sodas, can juices; crackers, and such crap!

What happens to people who are hyperglycemic (diabetic) who must maintain a balance diet, and cannot indulged in any sort sweet sugary food, and snacks?

Fort Lauderdale to Dominica, in an aircraft as seen in the picture, will take more than three hours to get to Dominica. Diabetics are supposed to eat on time, so what are these passengers to for food during such lengthy flight?

Before you people start talking crap, you had better familiarize yourselves with the protocols of flight operations where it pertains to flying in and out of the United States before you subject yourselves to countless law suites for causing damage to peoples health!

It takes five hours for us to fly to Antigua, Barbados, or St. Marteen from Toronto–if we the customers were to call for all sorts of services because of our state of health–they might as well build travelling hospitals–not airplanes–O dear.

@Barbara it is not that they don’t serve meals but that you have to pay for the heavy meals; I travelled on “West Jet” in August this year, and I found out that they wont even accept cash for the payment of heavy meals–they want payments through your credit or debit card–however we are a given a snack–at least twice.

I would go for faster and luxurious Ferries. We do not have a real Airport in Dominica for all these planes I’ve been reading about. One time is “Hummingbird,” next is CIT with Liat still squeezing in. Do we have that Air space for planes to circle around for an hour, while waiting on the other to take off? Let’s see if they’ll build a taller Air tower to make the air traffic safe for all these Hummingbirds.

What? LOL   How tall does the tower have to be? That’s not how it works. It’s what is in the Tower that counts not the height per say! In order for planes to be in a holding pattern they need to have Raider and ATC great communication equipment and raider and well trained ATC s Yes with increased Traffic to Dominica like that especially interstitial Flights Melville Hall needs proper Systems and Equipment!

      November 21, 2013

St. Marten have an International Airport you know; Dominica only have a thing that plane cannot land on when it is raining heavily eh.

You are only angry because nobody took your height in St Marten, and went down on their knees, and treated you like royalty.

And let me return the same compliments to you: Just because I respond to your submission, don’t use it to insult me, or say anything nasty about me oui!

      Hahahahahahaahhahahahaha!

That is what you tod me when you responded to one of my submissions last week; and you keep calling me “fete”, it is not fete; it is FET.

      FET.

      • November 22, 2013

Well I am “Elizabeth” and I need to be treated like Royalty because I am a “Lady” in all my ways.

This should answer the rest for you.

Also I do not call you “Fete” you will notice that I have always written FETe for “Francisco Etienne Telemaque” sometimes I would write “FETele” but that was when I thought you were my friend–you miserable old man! Hehehehehehehehe!

That would be a dream come true for us Dominicans in New Jersey. We had enough, and it is time that we have a direct flight from the mainland to Dominica. The only scary thing is you guys have only one plane. Is that all you all can afford? no money, secondly we need names behind Dominican nationals, and American nationals. 140 Dominican on a plane is alot of people.God forbid something would happen then you all know that this would be a disaster, so for the mean time i will travel to Guadeloupe, or St Lucia and take boat to Dominica until i can really trust that only flight

This is good news. All the best to this venture. I am curious as to how much more convinient and cost effective it is for passengers in other parts of the US to fly into Fort Lauderdale. The airfares must be very appealing particularly fo passengers coming from the north east united states. Nevertheless this is wonderful and I am sure that ths airline did a viability study.

Let’s hope they get the all clear from the FAA

Safety is Paramount in the Aviation industry..

Guess they will be permitted to land only from the Mountains only with so many souls…

Saw on a news item a few months back a delta rep said issues with aircraft would be a issue and runway length etc…

Hope the crew is experienced with Dominica’s approach and surroundings as Melville Hall Airport Does have it’s issues..

Let’s hope this is not a election tool to create a false impression towards the Dominican Society!

Head of the Dominica Airport and Sea Port Authority (DASPA), Benoit Bardouille, has confirmed that the airline is in discussion with the government of Dominica.

      Please read!

      • November 21, 2013

Sometime in the week, he said that he never heard about it :-D

      • Malatete
        November 21, 2013

yes, I read that too but that does not mean that people can not get scammed. As far as I can ascertain no aircraft is listed in the name of this airline and I suspect the plan is to operate with leased equipment, probably on a wet-lease basis with the airline collecting fares. I sincerely hope all goes well but would-be passengers should make sure that they are covered for losses in the case of non-performance before parting with their money.
