New airline’s website goes blank

cit1The website for an airline which promised direct flights from Florida to Dominica has gone blank.

CIT Airways’ Facebook page has also been deactivated.

Dominica News Online understands the website went blank at around midnight on Monday.

When DNO contacted CIT’s office in the US, someone who answered the telephone said, “there have been some changes” without elaborating.

Attempts to contact marketing director of the airline, Jeffrey Wade, proved futile on Monday.

Meanwhile, Head of the Dominica Airport and Sea Port Authority (DASPA), Benoit Bardouille told DNO on Monday that discussions with the airline are still ongoing.

When asked if he has knowledge that CIT Airway’s website and Facebook page had been taken down, Bardouille said he is unaware of this, stating that it is strictly the decision of the airline’s management.

“We don’t know of that … that is strictly their decision, we are having discussions with the airline,” he said

When asked whether CIT Airways will begin flying in January 2014, as promised, Benoit also stated that the decision rests with the airline.

“I can’t tell you that… that is strictly a decision that they have to make after all the necessary details that is required have been finalized,” he said.

CIT Airlines (Caribbean Island Transport) came to public knowledge in November, saying on its website that it will begin offering flights from Fort Lauderdale to Dominica in January 2014.

“CIT Airways is the national carrier of Dominica offering non stop flights to and from Fort Lauderdale direct to the island of Dominica. The company is a brand new company set up in Florida and is owned by Dominica nationality to help build the country’s economy while providing a viable solution to discover Dominica,” the site, before it went blank, proclaimed.

Wade, told DNO in November that negotiations with the government of Dominica were in the final stages.

News of the airline created much excitement among travellers to Dominica since the island suffers a  shortage of airlifts.

Dominica deserves every single bit of disappointment it gets. its own people drag it down and nail it to the ground. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. Almost every one was totally against the airline flying to D/A or doing business there, because of so called shady business person allegedly running its operations. When you people come to grips with reality, things will manifest in a positive light. Don’t freaking complain now that the airline took down its social media and web pages and won’t come to D/A. Dominicans should study the power of words, then remove the parrot off of the national flag! Allu talk too much!

  5. December 24, 2013

The owner of Hummingbird Airlines stated a few weeks ago that DA only gets about 200 passengers a day landing at Melville Hall. So if that new airline flying people to and from DA solely, how the hell they expect to make this a profitable endeavor. DA folks we need to do some research and do some thinking before we jump up and endorse every made-up plans involving our island

most people who read about this airline knew that it was never going to operate by Jan. Most of us knew it would probably never fly because nothing added up. The good news is that the Government has not given them any money to our knowledge. The bad news is that some people really thought they would fly Mia to Dom in Jan so they were fooled. Nice try Blair Webb.

This Airline thing is such a farce. All I’m hearing from DASPA spokesman is, negotiations is ongoing. They must be trying to figure out how many flights they need to reserve for election and the cost involve.
Last election Skeritt spent …… on illegal voter flights. SMH!!

  10. no fool
    December 23, 2013

Another ploy jammed. It’s all about preparations for elections.

The Electoral Laws of Dominica states clearly that BRIBERY is wrong. Bribery is illegal. Enticing someone, with FREE plane ticket and cash, to come down to vote for that particular political Party giving the bribes, manipulating the voter, is illegal.

In the Cabals’ desperation to remain in power, by all means possible, expect Laws to be disregarded. Free plane tickets, cash, other in kind material things will again bowl. Air plane – chartered – Airline being formed. Web Site no more? No more news CIT to readers about that so-called airline? Whose fools are we, nuh?

Remember the Court threw out the petition, by the Opposition, as regards that kind of action in the 2009 Elections? Bribery it was according to our Electoral Laws? Expect the worse.

Their inefficient, Bad Governance, corrupt works cannot set them free. So they will resort to all kinds of trickery, Manipulation, irregularities.

The electoral process has already been messed up. The ” Independent” Electoral Commission was forced to provide NID Cards,(What the DLP Gov’t wanted), instead of Voter ID Cards,(What the Electoral Commission recommended and requested funds for about 8 Years ago.) That important Institution has lost its Independence. Influenced.

A Gov’t that is stubborn in carrying out Electoral Reforms, casting aside the genuine requests of the Commission for funds re. specifically, Voters’ ID Cards and ensuring a clean voters’ list, is afraid of Free and Fair elections.

Who gains when Elections are drowned with irregularities, bribery, and disobeying Electoral Laws? The people of Dominica? The Nature Isle Dominica? Or a Few greedy, power-hungry, Narcissist individuals?

I suspect the site should not have been launch anyway as the intentions of the airline was to transport voters during the next elections. The cover blew off, so the site was brought down with the hope that people will forget about it. As Bardouille said “we are having discussions with the airline.” So the site down does not mean the airlines has disappeared.

I done tell all-you no such airline exists in America you know!

Anybody who have a few dollars in their pocket can rent an aircraft, and put some easy to wash off Silkscreen paint on it and claim it to be an Airline you know.

If it was an airline which claimed flights would be originating in any place in the continental United States, that airline would have to be registered either with the FAA, or some other authority.

I told you people that no such Air Line was found registered here, at least not on the day I checked to see if it was registered.

Somebody is always making a fool out of Dominicans.

Dis time I doh can laugh; another mythical dream bites the dust!

Somebody knows how easy it is to fool Dominica government and get money from dem; remember dat rich man who lived on dem for years: Well he told them he was this rich investor with investments around world in the billions. He stayed in Dominica in a Hotel, feast on lobsters everyday. in the end the man was penniless, the taxpayers of Dominica was used to pay his hotel bill including payment for all the lobsters he had eaten.

We remember the one Saverin: Oooooppppss sorry,my mistake I meant de president; walked the streets of Roseau making claims that the man was indeed solid rich; when we investigated this rich investor, his office in the United States turn out to be only a coda phone (better known as an answering machine).

A while later, we say someone on singing contract with some big recycling company here in the City of Solvang, located approximately one hundred-seven miles from my house. The so called CEO gave an address of her recycling plant, when I the kid went to investigate, I found a residential address, in a gated neighbor hood.

It turned out to be another fake and mythical company which was going to buy all of Dominica’s empty plastic bottles and cans. A company which never existed.

Guliable people are always suckered into rip off scams.

forreal when you try a thing it should be genuine. One cannot try a thing on a crooked basis especially when lives are at risk.

People don’t “try a thing ” with an airline. This is not a roast plantain stand on the roadside

      • Anthony P. Ismael
        December 24, 2013

You don’t just pick up a Boeing 737-300 aircraft, fill it with people and fly it into Melville Hall. That’s not how the airline business operates.
Being poor do not mean that one has to be stupid and fall for all sorts of foolishness that is heaped upon us.
The reactions on DNO are due in part to the constant high level of chicanery that our citizens are forced to contend with. All Dominicans would welcome improved air access to the island. However, we’re not willing to risk our lives on factious “Fly-by-night outfits.”

      • Francisco Telemaque
        December 24, 2013

Forreal: If I say that you have ask a very silly question, please do not consider that an insult. However you need to know that our people, Dominicans are some of the greatest scam artist on this earth!

As long as I am alive I’ve heard the term “Bobboll” this might be a patios word; which means in modern day English “corruption” of thievery. I you ask me I would suggest if we dig deeply we may find some government minister in cahoots with in the scam/

Let us not pretend, our people are not all that honest and clean. If you are caught in one lie, the rest of what you say has no value since you have contaminated your case with that single lie.

Let me give you an example of how we Dominicans steal and lie. During the colonial ear, we had Public Works Department, in the late 1950’s in a review (audit) of the pay roll, they found hundreds of none-existing people on the government payroll who were paid fortnightly.

The names of dead people surfaced as everyday employed.

Now, that practice continued until the days of Eugenia Charles, and the advent of the computer, hence Dominica became the first island in the Caribbean to utilize the computer to handle the payroll system, thus you are now familiar with the term Computer Center in Dominica.

Let me take you back to the late 1930’s and into the early 1940’s, however into the era of World War II. Had it not been for “Bobboll” Dominica would have had a much better Air Port right where Melville Airport is located. One of the problem was that the when the allied United States, and Britain provided the money to pay the workers the money would finished fast, do to some cabal in Dominica was stealing it all.

Nonetheless, we saw the Airports in Antigua, Barbados, Guyana and Guantanamo Cuba, and Shaggaramous in Trinidad completed. Be reminded when the war ended the American government turned over the Airports to the island’s government, with the exception of the one in Guantanamo Cuba, which is still under the control and still used by the American Government.

Not the International in Antigua, Barbados, Trinidad, and Guyana was a given to the government of those nations, they however, developed and made changes from time to accommodate more passengers and larger aircrafts. you need to know our peoples history you see; If I had the time I would tell the cunning way a member of the long ago Dominica Legislative council stole half of Roseau, buying people homes for the three shillings and pence they owed for property tax.

Dominica could have got an Airport for free the same as the rest, had it not been because we are so darn thief! You just don’t know, that new Airline thing is a scam!

And remember too we see the fleecing of our country everyday, government ministers gets kickback from over price contracts in the millions, check that out.

I’m sorry, but I fail to see what a private company has to do with politics. Anyway, if they work out great, if not then I am sure dominica will have an airport in a few years. No matter which government is there. Dominica is in the right circle with the Chinese and whether labour build it or uwp or even pappi, I will be more than satisfied. Dominicans need to put political alliegence aside and grow up. So far the government of Dominica has done lots in terms of building, it’s pretty much how macro economics work. One step at a time. Roads, infrastructure etc, then look to bring tourists after. Bring tourist first and travel on what roads? Say in which hotels? To rent a room in your home? Lol uwp have great ideas also, I think they are doing much better than before. Either one that is there I am sure dominica will move forward. It is my hope that no one enters politics to see their country I down the drain. Anyway, some things just don’t belong in politics anyway, and a private company has nothing to do with the govt of Dominica. Simples

Hmmmmmm….pretty interesting. I wonder if the gov’t of Dominica sent a representative to FL to investigate about that ‘promised’ CIT airline which will be making direct flights ‘ONLY’ to Dominica. If they did not, SHAME ON THEM. Even if it’s a Dominican owned airline, why would he be so selfish and not stop at another island en-route to Dominica? Make some money. How many people fly to Dominica on a daily basis? Isn’t that kind of fishy? And, the website disappeared on the eve of them beginning their historic flights to the island. Even their facebook page disappeared. Maybe there is a connection with both websites. Soon the name of the owner will be a hoax too. Santa Clause accidentally fell on the wire and they have no electricity. I never believed that story. Mr.Bardouille needs a slap across the head. Or, does he think the majority of Dominicans brain cells are dried? Come back with a better fairy tale Mr.Bardouille. Maybe Umi Zumi will be better next time.

Ican only assume that the Laborites who are crying ” Skerrit is getting blamed for everything” are those who are either not old enough to have experienced the days of the Eugenia Charles or some of you laborites are way to bias to remember.
Well I remember Ma Charles getting blamed for even a bee sting in the Mang in Portsmouth and it was all Laborites. Laborites even knew what kind of Panties Ma Charles wore. She was called Mama Modara; Mama Soukoyan and much more. By who laborites- the same mud slingers, gutter politics, immature Laborites.
Laborites should be the last ones complaining now that the Labor Party leader is getting blamed for everything.
It was Laborites who went around fabricating lies about UWP ministers being millionaires; well it is now 14 years and I don’t see the millionaires from the UWP unless they are really disciplined in keeping their loot hidden. Now one does not have to look very far to see who the real plunderers are – the rampant money laundering; Villas; properties everywhere; mansions in bobois; In Borne ; Vielle Case.

      Laborites are as shameless as

actually, I disagree – it wasn’t fun at all, seeing people take Dominicans for yet another ride on a rollercoaster to nowhere, and watching too many of my compatriots fall for this diception. Like i’ve said in many posts, I am a bit of a cynic, and that causes me to look at things that appear too good to be true but have no apparent foundation, which is what happened in this case. It glittered, but it wasn’t gold, not even bronze.
