A video production company has started what it calls “Dominica’s first local content TV channel.”
The channel is called Caribbean Video Network or CVN and is being ran by Cee Media Inc.
It features content from other islands but since it is based in Dominica, director of Cee Media Inc, Carlos Charles, said the channel will make a meaningful contribution to island’s culture.
“The fact that it is based here allows our local artists easier access to promote their music with the intention of this network being a vehicle to promote Caribbean culture,” Charles said. “We are very excited to have started this project.”
CVN can be found on Marpin 2K4’s Channel 82 and Charles is asking the local business community to support the new venture.
“In addition we view this as an opportunity for our other content providers in Dominica to produce videos and adverts which can be aired on CVN,” Carlos noted.
He hopes CVN will eventually be on other networks.
“We hope to be on all networks locally, regionally, and internationally as we seek to promote local and Caribbean culture.” he stated.
CVN can also be found on the internet at http://www.thecvn.tv/ or on Facebook.
Great. Just want Dominica needs to improve the island and change the local mindset…a video channel. Dominica is certainly preparing itself for the 21st century where technological advancement is the key to a nation development.
Did they say they wanted to take this internationally?
Regionally, maybe. Internationally, definitely not. Who will pick this up if one of the prime purpose it promotion of Dominican artists who most people in the region don’t know (much less an international audience).
I laugh sometimes when I read of these grand ideas that have no chance of seeing the light of day.
Collywood was supposed to launch Dominican actors. Where are they today?
We have a small thing. Let’s enjoy it. Let’s share it with our brothers in the region. But let’s be realistic about our reach.
you are main a lot o sense annonymous
Anonymous, you sound like a clown.. Remember the saying aim for the sky and you may land on the stars? What’s the point you are trying to make here. With attitudes like yours Dominica goes no where. SMH
That is why every Tom, Dick and Harry come to Dominica and fool allyuh. Allyuh too gullible.
Anonymous, what have you done lately? Why are you so pessimistic? To suggest that its folly to believe that they can go internationally, is to believe that no one and nothing Dominican can go international. You are wrong Bro. If anything they promote goes international then they will have achieve something. Think positive man!
