The shortage of Sol LPG gas in Dominica which was expected to end on Monday continues with no end in sight.
General Manager of H.H.V. Whitchurch and Company Ltd Gerry Aird said the tanker which was scheduled to arrive in Dominica to deliver the gas this week suffered another major break down and had to be towed to Trinidad.
He said Sol is currently working on another tanker to leave for Dominica soon however he says a date cannot be given at this time as to the arrival of the tanker.
“I regret to inform everyone that the tanker suffered a second major breakdown,” Aird said. “I have been informed by Sol that they are making attempts to get a second tanker to call here but unfortunately I can’t give a specific day when the matter will be sorted out. I understand that it’s a problem with the entire islands but we seem to be the one with the biggest problem because its carnival week.”
Aird said the company could purchase a container of gas from its competitor Petro Caribe this week.
Just last week Petro Caribe came to Sol’s rescue by filling close to one thousand cylinders.
Aird is apologizing to the entire Dominican public for the delay which he says is beyond his company’s control.
no gas
Whitchurch continues to take its consumers for granted. Although it has run the lpg business for over 40 years it still has basically the same storage capacity as when it started, Meanwhile the demand for LPG has more than quadrupled over the last few decades, yet Whichurh refuses to invest in proper storage, so whenever a refueling ship is delayed by a few hours the country runs into shortage.
Come on Whitchurch this is not the first time, it is a bad habit, saying sorry won’t cut it. It would have been even worse if Sukie and Petro Caribe were not around.
After this incident Sukie and Petro clIentele will swell and you have only yourself to blame. Just imagine poor people with little children to feed. This is a modern society. If you can’t maintain a consistent service just step aside and let responsible people run the show. Customers deserve respect
Before i start making any comment let me first give some facts: Do we know that more than 50% of the worlds rubbish is organic material? This organic material helps contaminate our water supply and the air we breathe when they start to rot. There is also a great benefit from these organic garbbage: (We can use it to generate a cheap and reliable source of energy called methane or biogas. late last year i won 3 place out of 71 different projects in my university, i created a biogas generator which functioned perfectly and it did not cost me much. The only problems i had at the begining was controling the temperature and ph which are very esencial conditions for the bacterias to work. To minimize our dependency on these expensive forms of energy lets start using alternative forms of energy which are environmentaly friendly and cheap.
Is that the next level we wanted?????
What are you talking about, FOOL!!!
ask sol dat question. tebeh. skerrit dat do dat too???
I wonder how will this affect future prices!!! The demand will rise and guess what? Price going up!! A deliberate strategy? Let’s wait and see.
well this morning my coal pot came to the rescue and there wasnt any problem. thanks to old fashion and modern technical (rice cooker, microwave, kettle, deep fryer) i know i’ll eat
What a coincidence! There’s a conspiracy theory: HHV Whitchurch was paid the possible losses they ‘would’ have suffered, and this ‘shortage’ was designed to promote Petro Caribe as our knight and shining armour, coming to our “rescue” in this ‘crisis’.
(If you agree with this give me a Thumbs Up; if you don’t, just read and move on. Thanks)
and just when Petro Caraibe were going to come under pressure because dey put up the price of oil dey supply to DOMLEC. Make u tink.
Exactly. It gives me great relief to see we have a few THINKING Dominicans. Thanks
“Thumbs Up”I also swim is this pool of thought.
Thanks darling.
Thumbs up to you for showing the excellent fool you are!!! Definitely would recommend you for a medal at independence time for being Dominica’s biggest fool.
Thumbs down cause your are an idiot!!!
I hope that satisfies your request.
I love you too! May you live very long and enjoy a life of abundance!!
We better start getting our coal pots and coal out for us to use.
I say like Chubby. Bring back the milk and honey, coconut oil and castor. Bring the milk and honey cane juice and bush medicine….. reduce our dependence on foreign oil and all that imported rotten chicken. rotten hormone chicken and meat….
Go local…. we got all what we need in the soil. Go back to agriculture…Fresh juice, fresh fruits and vegetables….nuff organic…
I’m glad you this this a joke. Wake up people….this is a crisis
what’s so bad with cooking on coal pot
Dominican’s have become to accustomed to the luxuries of life, we can use wood and coals especially those of us who live in the rural areas. lol :
that’s what men do….apologise…unlike those at the helm of governance
good strategy though! i wonder what gary is getting from this….lol hmmm
you see this as a “strategy”? people children going hungry, people can’t cook and you see this as a strategy? PDV Caribe has been doing its best to assist dominicans. Why does everything have to be political…we all know what happened. whichurch ship broke down. It was an unfortunate event, but it happened. the pressure should be put on sol and not on the ‘night in shinin armour’.
Mr.Aird – apology accepted. We can survive this easily
