OECS businesses seek greater exposure in Canadian markets

oecs businessThe Trade Facilitation Office of Canada (TFO Canada) with support from the Dominica-based OECS Export Development Unit (OECS EDU) will host half-day seminars on Exporting to Canada. The first of these will take place in Saint Lucia on Tuesday 18th November, while the second is scheduled for Dominica on Thursday 20th November, 2014.

These Seminars will present tips on a number of issues including – an overview of the Canadian Market; accessing the Canadian market, and the services offered by TFO Canada to current and prospective OECS exporters, who want to expose their products to the Canadian market. TFO Canada is the primary Canadian provider of information, advice and buyer contacts for exports in developing and transition economies.

The OECS Export Development Unit adds that Exporters from other OECS Member States can connect via the Internet using TFO Canada’s webinar feature to be a part of the seminar.

The Seminar targets OECS exporters in the following sectors: – fresh produce, clothing, furniture, processed or manufactured goods, footwear, home textiles, seafood, jewellery, other Home Décor, beverages, other fashion accessories and cosmetics. The goal of TFO Canada is to confront the challenge of global poverty by promoting sustainable economic development through export information, advice and contact. TFO also facilitates access to the Canadian marketplace and shares Canadian trade expertise for the benefit of smaller exporting in developing countries.

Darin Grell, Information Officer at the OECS Export Development Unit is very pleased that the OECS EDU can collaborate with TFO Canada once again on an initiative that will directly benefit OECS exporters, enabling them to be better informed about the requirements for entering the Canadian Market. Previously, TFO Canada worked with the OECS Export Development Unit on the Rum Buyers Expo held in Saint Lucia a few years ago.

The OECS Export Development Unit says it looks forward to future collaboration with TFO Canada for the benefit of regional exporters.
