PM Skerrit to promote economic citizenship programme in Asia

The Prime Minister will be on a four-nation business trip

Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, is in London, England on the first leg of a four nation business trip that takes him to several parts of Asia.

The Prime Minister is leading a Dominica delegation to various international forums, convened for the promotion and marketing of Investment Immigration and various other forms of what is commonly referred to as Citizenship By Investment programmes.

On this current itinerary, the Prime Minister will be making virtual whistle-stops in Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam, promoting Dominica as an ideal place to invest and domicile, under the economic citizenship programme.

At least two other Caribbean Prime Ministers and representatives of other Eastern Caribbean governments are also slated to attend and participate in some of these forums.

Following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika at the end of August, Prime Minister Skerrit made known his intention to spearhead a vigorous marketing effort of Dominica’s Citizenship By Investment programme, in a bid to raise much needed funds for the rebuilding and reconstruction phase of Dominica’s physical infrastructure, in particular.

During the absence of Mr. Skerrit, Hon. Dr. John Colin McIntyre, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and Investment, will perform the duties of Acting Prime Minister.

Looking forward to the interested investors and tourists. Why are we so worried where the Prime Minister is? He has to work and its a good thing he keeps us informed. In America, you never know where Obama is nor what he’s doing…

Many DLP supporters don’t like you, DNO, but many Dominicans wish to commend you for informing the nation in terms of the where about of the Prime Minister. The man gave his state of the country address on November 3rd, I wonder how many Dominicans in particular DLP supports knew their beloved Prime Minister was leaving the country the following day for this extensive money begging trip in the name of Erika. DNO is reporting, the Prime Minister will be travelling with a delegation, I wonder how many DLP supporters knew the composition of the team, yet we hear, we love our PM, unfortunately, their PM does not love them, because they are responsible for paying for his trip, but it is none of their damn business where he goes and with whom. That country really nice.

The PM is in London, as part of a 4-nation business trip. Is the PM promoting the Citizen by Investment Programme in London and what are the forums planned for this event. If not what is the business agenda for the London stop. Does Baroness Scotland have any updates to share. So who are the people making up the delegation. Public information really hard to come by!!!

He is out again with a bundle of the taxpayers money in his pocket, when he returns, he will declare his dogs eat the receipts, therefore he cannot present them, hence the nation will never know how much money he actually spent, ker gets rich too!

For as long as that man is talking about economic citizenship if that was helping Dominicans, there would not be so many unemployed young adults walking the streets. The benefit of economic citizenship should be employment; and that comes through the recipients of economic citizenship.

In the United States, Canada, Britain, and the rest of Europe who allow economic citizenship, they do not simply sell passports, it is mandatory that the recipients invest in some industry which creates employment within the country. The countries I mentioned do not have any agent or Prime Ministers, and Chancellors surfing the planet selling passports; only Dominica: it is so degrading; instead of…

The countries I mentioned do not have any agent or Prime Ministers, and Chancellors surfing the planet selling passports; only Dominica: it is so degrading; instead of that idiot promotes the industrialization of the country his ambition is to go and grovel on his belly to sell passports to people who are dirt poor and cannot do anything to help Dominica.

When those poor souls buy the passports, they use it to enter Europe, and North America, to better their personal economic status; never setting foot in Dominica, and not even knowing the geographic location of the country, Skerrit boy you can sell as much passport as you wish, Dominica’s future is doomed as long as you are the so called Prime Minister of the country!

Selling passports and begging dictators for money. It’s so sad to see this happening when Dominica has so much to offer. Islands with half our natural attractions making twice as much money. If you try to do something different, there’s red tape to deal with at each step. But who can afford to try? Between VAT, customs duty and the high cost of electricity, small businesses are destined to fail. I had high hopes for the geothermal plant but with Domlec’s grasp firmly on the necks of Dominicans I really doubt much will change. Sorry for the rant… I’m just so frustrated!

The absentee prime minister only bothered to come back to attend to the independence parade and award ceremony. Now eh is off on his travels again, more out of the country than in. Doesn’t he like us, the people that allow him such liberties? ? Do we smell, are we inferior? I admit we do not have fancy restaurants he got used to like Cipriani in New York.
I am really getting offended by the thought that we are only good enough to give him our votes to enable him to continue with his lavish life style while he disses us. After all, it is not us that should be grateful to him but he should be grateful to us.

You know in other countries the prime minister is presiding and actual head of government, whcih means he should oversee the work of the goverment. For extensive travels they have a handful of different ministers… To hand out flyers and promote passworts not even a minister is needed. Any top level beaurocrat will do.

Skerrit you have gone. but I know you take your remote control with you to check on the doctor who said that Dominicans overseas should not think they can rule the country by remote control. What’s happening to him now when the Puppet Master pulls the marionette’s strings from far away! Well, well, well some people come to regret what they said.

Please, People of Dominica, the economic citizenship program has been on for about thirty years; could you be so kind, so as to list the benefits that have been derived by the people of The Commonwealth of Dominica from this exercise after three decades?!

Steve, they say a man is known by the company he keeps!

Birds of a feather flocked together. If a man sleeps in the middle of dogs, when he rise in the he will be covered with dog flee!

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

If one mingles with thieves and scoundrels, he will become a thief, and a scoundrel! If one pall around with dictators, and murders, so is he, whatever a man eats does not defile his body but what comes out of his mouth defiles his body, relate that to the people who are Skerrit associates and friends!

By the way have you seen the newly erected Bridge Emerline Anselm’s is about to be washed away check out Dominica News Online on their Facebook under the caption shared Emerline Anselm’s I saw Skerrit Building that one himself eh! steve you have to much guts for me, ok you portrait yourself as a white man so your support for a government that does business with people that oppress and murder black people is understandable… i just don’t understand a black man like skerrit would do that to those people and the blacks of Saharan Africa……

      • November 6, 2015

What I posted was not bad, it was horrible, now if something like that is going on in there own backyard and they do nothing do you really think they are good for Dominica? how do you think they feel about Dominica? do they live in gated communities because they like us?

      • November 6, 2015

West Papua has the largest gold mine in the world, the place is being exploited by Indonesia with the help of a American mining company, the people are being oppressed, murdered, and denied independence, at the same time Indonesia is stealing there future, China knows about this and they do nothing, this is happening in there own backyard, yet they are in Africa, Dominica, claiming to be our friends? why don’t they do that in West Papua? are there no tropical islands there for them to help?

      • November 6, 2015

Eyeopener, if the PM were going to Indonesia then your point would make sense. But Indonesia is not the same country as Hong Kong, Thailand, or Vietnam. It’s not even geographically close to those places, it’s literally over a thousand miles away from them! Would you post a video about atrocities in South Sudan and then criticising someone for going to Ghana? Because that would make just as little sense.

      • Francisco Telemaque
        November 6, 2015

Are you sure Steve is a white man?

You know anybody can post a photograph of anybody and use it to represent themselves! I would hope Steve is not one of those frauds! On the other hand, there is nothing wrong about Skerrit or any other Prime Minister doing business with white people, or any other persons with less melanin in the skin!

That’s all the color on one skin is about, but in reality the complexion of everyone is basically the same, the more melanin in the epidermis it is the darker the person, and the less melanin is the lighter the person; hence they are considered white! If you fail to believe that take a class in human anatomy, and physiology.

We have no choice but to do business with people of other complexion especially the one you term white, because if you depend on black people to develop Dominica, you can consider the island fully developed already! Once we start talking color, we are into racial discrimination!

    November 5, 2015

Hmmm.. This is just another nice way of saying that he will be out there selling Pasports. when we as a people put a stop to that ? Are we just going to seat there and alow the Government to sell out our sovereignty like that … There are so many other ways to generate economic activity in the Country… Y not focus on Agriculture and production, we have the land the water. ???????? My Good God save our Country ??????

    • Otto
      November 6, 2015

There is no need for focus just on agriculture. There is an abundance for clean fresh water and an unlimited amount of clean energy in the form of geothermal heat. Take a look on how countries like Iceland, Germany etc. use this kind of thermal power. It is a shame that an English speaking nation with a strategic position between north and south america with an abundance of free energy and clean freshwater doesn’t use at all its sustainable resources at all. Not just bananas but tropical fruits & vegetables, ornamental flowers like orchids, aquafarming, herbal medicine etc. all come to mind when you think about agriculture. There is a growing organic market in the USA & Canada, so some niche markets should be easy to find… But there could be other industries as well, e.g. generic pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food additives, confectionery and so on.

Spoke to my kids doctor yesterday, she just came from a second trip to Dominica. She met her husband on a scuba diving years ago and were dying to get back. She stayed at the castle comfort lodge. Her last comment, ” we are never going back”. Why? Because too expensive and to much a hassle to get to. I am sorry folks we cannot have any major international development without direct flights. Every time someone destined to Dominica overnights somewhere we loose money and return visitors. We have already spent 30 plus yrs debating an international airport so I am not gonna waste my time.

so why was that a secret, you had to sneak out of dominica making people believe is you wife you going and meet instead is Singapore you headed to…. again why are you involved in sale of passport, are you getting your cut… just asking

    Asia again?
    seems queer!

    • November 5, 2015

How so? There’s a fast pace of economic growth in the countries he’ll be visiting, and that means business people who have become wealthy and might be interested in a second passport.

I mean, if one doesn’t like the economic citizenship programme that’s fair enough, but so long as it exists it makes sense for those promoting it to go where the customers are.

      • Titiwi
        November 6, 2015

Mr. Foerster this is akin to condoning the business of drugs barons: “so long as the opportunity exists it makes sense for those promoting it to go where the customers are”.
I sincerely hope this is not your line of thinking because if it is we may as well dismantle our legal system and tell all preachers to shut up shop and preach instead the new gospel of the free market, which prevails, regardless of the consequences. Winner takes all and to hell with anyone else.

      • November 6, 2015

I don’t know where you got the “drug barons” idea. I obviously wasn’t advocating that the economic citizenship programme be open to criminals. I completely agree if there’s to be such a programme it should be selective, not open to all comers. If you’re suggesting that anyone who has become successful in those countries has necessarily done so through illicit means, then I couldn’t disagree more. I mean, that’s what people in OECD countries say about the Caribbean, they call us “sunny places for shady people”, but it’s not true here either.

By the way, “to hell with anyone else” is not actually what happens with free markets, because business people who operate that way don’t get repeat customers. It’s more often when business people can rely on government officials to protect them that they engage in antisocial behaviour, but that’s a corporatist system, not a free market one.
