Operations at the Public Works Corporation (PWC) are slowly returning to normal after staff received outstanding payments due to them.
The company found itself in hot water with it staff last week when they protested for five days against late salary payments.
On Monday General Manager of the Corporation, Eddie Henry, said staff were paid the first fortnight salaries on Friday and the company continued payments today.
He said all outstanding payments could be paid before the end of this week.
“Persons returned to work and we were able to meet one fortnight pay on Friday plus salaries….during the week as we continue to collect from our clients, we will continue to make more payments,” he said.
Henry said the company will seek to intensify its collection approach in an effort to prevent a reoccurrence of the situation.
Salary and wages at the PWC amount to $250,000 per month.
Staff must meet their personal obligations. They look forward to timely-paid salary. I cannot visualize staff not being paid on time. This causes them anxiety since they are not able to fulfill their obligations and to purchase necessary items as food. I am happy that you got paid and hope in the future you will be paid on time.
well done PWD staffand DPSU.Now that is the positve result you get out of unity and membership support ot their union
This is good news for all sides.
Henry why didnt you think of that all the time? Whilst some enjoy thousands I really mean thousands plus all kind of allowances monthly the poor hard working man with his family has to suffer, beg and borrow. Reduce the thousands those so called big boogs get for doing little or no work at all and help out the poor hard working man.
Great! Public-work workers a very hard working people yes pay them now. Don’t let them down !!1
I think you are goings a little overboard -.
