Statistics have shown that there was a 21.5 percent increase in visitors to Dominica for the 2014 edition of the World Music Creole Festival (WCMF).

The US market continues to be strong this year with 8.3 percent growth through October, according to the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA).

Visitor arrival from the French West Indies declined by 7.2 percent through October. However, that market still represents the largest source of stay over visitors at 18,052 arrivals through October, or 26.2 percent.

Europe has been the strongest performing region for the year, with total arrivals at 12,135, a 12.8% increase from 2013.

France (4,314) and the German market (1,778) have been the consistent strong performers in Europe for 2014 and for the second half of 2014 arrivals from the UK have been positive, bringing year to date UK stay over visitation to 4,195, a 7.3 percent growth, the statistics from the DDA show.

Despite a 4.7 percent decline in stay over arrivals during August to October, year to date stay over visitation grew 3.7 percent over 2013 to 68,791.

There was a 13.4 percent increase in same day arrivals to 1,983 from 2013 (1,749).

The numbers are nothing to crow about, but in a Dominica that’s massive! growth. Smh. We are still waiting with baited breath the numbers in Dollars and cents for this year`s W.C.M. F. do we have to demonstrate for that too? We will not stop asking until the report is out. Personally, I must have contributed almost $20,ooo.E C, to our economy therefore we deserve transparency and accountability.
