US says no to new Caribbean Airlines routes

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) has turned down an application from the Trinidad-based Caribbean Airlines (CAL) to fly passengers, cargo and mail between Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia and New York as well as scheduled services between Barbados and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Director of the Office of International Aviation in the US Paul L Gretch handed down the decision on Friday.

Not a very smart move by the US Department of Tranportation (DOT). Don’t know what the reasons are based on….I should think that competition is the main followed by drugs. It is also fair to think of Chavismo’s operations next door, ALBA setting roots in the region. There are many National Security issues that may have punctuated the decision. Is it fair to the people? Hell No! What does it means to the US? A further isolation towards the Caribbean people, and a more receptive attitude towards the almighty China. But what if we allow the Chinese to buy out our Caribbean politicians and its people?
Certainly, there’s a price to pay in the future if the Chinese continue with its neo colonization of the strategic island nations like Dominica. The US is keeping a close eye on the Chinese relationships that have been progressing in its backyard. I have no illusion that China is seeking a permanent foothold in Dominica in order serve its Caribbean Geopolitical strategies for future operations. What I know? Lougawoo will continue to observe these strategies and its impact as they progress.

After reading the full article, it just sounds like the airline didn’t have all their ducks in a row when they went before the board. They need the proper approvals from the gov’ts of those islands and return to the Aviation board.

You just have to watch them and treat them good to get what you want but be one foot in and one out. What a disgusting lying set of people. Who wanna diss me feel free. I speak my mind and you all know it’s true

Trinidad simply has to get together and boycott American Airlines, its that simple. Then that will force them to see the light. You say no to us we can say no to you as well. But for the Caribbean to stand up and do something like that, not in this lifetime.

Why is it America wants to dictate to people? Why wouldn’t Caribbean people open their eyes and Caribbean planes must advertise destinations throughout Central and South America for persons to visit. There are so many wonderful sights throughout South America to visit like the pyramids for e.g.

      February 14, 2011

But Muslim, If the planes go to Central and South America, they might come back empty. Thee people in dem places hardly visit the Caribbean Islands. I doe know if they doe have money or they just find everything in the islands similar to what they have in their countries. America can do what it want because they have money…plain and simple..they can afford to do what they want.

You stil think America has money. America’s economy is in bad shape, it’s crumbling to the ground. We in the caribbean should advertise and allow attractive prices for South and Central American people to visit. They will come!

          February 14, 2011

I glad you know that. Muslim is bright. That Muslim reads. The economy is in tatters and all major project and equipment in America is being shipped to china. China just became the second largest economy and by 2030 they will be number one. Then they will probably be the new super power. Good thing Dominica has good relations with china all now. Already America want to tell people what to do and not give them a penny. Allu think the us easy. They like ven katwe. When you think the meat sweet you getting a poison dart in your head

Yea! It’s the Chinese money that have america afloat. If the Chinese pull out their investments from America you can bet your last dollar that the USA will be declared Bankrupt.
