Chartered Boat to Ship Supplies, Personal Care Packages from Bridgetown to Roseau

DNO has spoken to Calvin Alkins, Barbadian business and friend of Dominica, who has organized a charter to ship supplies to Dominica. The boat will carry donations from various Barbadian businesses as well as providing the opportunity for residents of Barbados to ship personal packages to friends and loved ones in Dominica free of charge.

Mr Alkins, in affiliation with Kastrel Liner Agency and his own company , Customs Services, have secured the vessel Admiral Bay II which will sail from the Bridgetown Port at 4:30 pm on Tuesday September 26 and arrive at some time on Wednesday September 27.

Mr Alkins advises those who wish to send packages to locate the intended recipient before doing so, as the staff cannot guarantee that they will make contact once the ship has berthed.

Packages may be dropped off  on Saturday September 23, Sunday September 24, and Monday September 25 between the hours of  9 AM -7:30 PM.

Address of drop-off is :

#19 Gas Alley

Cane Garden

St. Thomas

Barbados

Any questions may be directed to  Mr Alkins at : 1-246-231-6261 or email address: [email protected] (email is preferable).

He also stated that there will be an additional charter some time in the near future. Details will be forthcoming.

I think the government should bring in lumber equipment to turn these trees into wood to help rebuild the roofs. Contact wood processing companies to supply them.

It was so comforting to hear the leader of the opposition, Hon. Lennox Linton live with JF on Q95/TDN today. We can say what we want but our ONLY way forward is through love and unity people. I know some will say this is not the time for politics but while I tend to agree some with them, my question is, why is PM still playing politics at a time when we suffering as one people? I know the PM had helicopter service to fly from one part of the village to the other; can you imagine how powerful his tears would be if ONLY he had invited Mr. Linton on the helicopter with him, so both could be seen together in the spirit of unity. This is NOT the time for anyone to be seen as the hero because in truth and in fact, Maria taught us all of us are the same whether rich or poor, labor or opposition. I believe PM missed out on another opportunity to unite the country

Please note that personal supplies cannot be shipped to Dominicans as per the PM at a meeting in Brooklyn, New York, last night.

Why is Dominica in a State of Emergency rather than State of Disaster?

    Difference Between Emergency and Disaster

    • Though both emergencies and disasters present situations that demand quick action, one can prepare for emergencies but not disasters.

    • Emergency can be of a very small level involving a single person having suffered a stroke whereas disaster is on a much bigger scale and has the potential to cause large scale destruction of life and property.
    • Emergencies like fire breaking out in a building can be tackled by police and fire departments working in close cooperation but disasters like floods and wildfire require prompt action by the administration on a war footing to lessen destruction of life and property.

This is a bit confusing. I thought the PM say no personal packages at present. So which is it?

Forget what Skerrit says. At this point he is worthless.

The morning after Maria left 90% of uh homeless and destitute, I heard Tony bragging about his lovely wife and son that are safe in Florida. I have the video and will put it out at the appropriate time. Now 4 days after Maria, Skerrit left us in our crisis and run to America to be with his family, at a time when the rest of us are suffering of hunger, thirst, with pain and tears. In the time of crisis they can run and have a place to turn to but what about the rest of us with children and have no where to run to? Skerrit say he homeless though his 8 room mansion at Vielle case is safe, and under heavy security while the rest of us that are truly homeless are left naked, while they run to their luxurious home in the US

When the people here wake up, they will stop installing people like Skerrit. However, that may be too late at this point. They will leave you without a boat to paddle. Skerrit should have never shipped the emergency supplies for DA to any other island. Every island should have its own emergency supplies unit on island. They all know that these islands are subject to violent weather and hurricanes. DA has essentially been demolished. Not even the trees still stand. How can one with nothing recover from that. It was hard enough before the hurricane and with Erika’s destruction. Now……?

Do not despair. Help is on its way. It appears you are able to get access on the internet.
The view of others is their view, the way they see and hear but not intended. I do not think Tony was bragging. Someone may have asked him about his wife and family and he replied they are safe in Florida which is where they reside. I do not think Tony would brag; not at a time as this. He knows better.
Veille Case is a long way from Roseau and probably is still somewhat impassable.
My heart goes out to all D/cans who have suffered such a fate. Words are not enough to express my sadness at what occurred to our beautiful island and to you, fellow D/cans.
It takes time for the organizers to collect necessary items and take to D/ca but help is on the way.
I am still waiting for word from relatives and friends.
We in Canada are organizing to send necessary items to D/ca.
Pray to God to at least grant you peace of mind.
I do wish you His blessing and peace.

I do not think Tony would brag; not at a time as this. He knows better. Always finding an excuse for this band of Skerrit blind supporters. Tony can talk his nonsense for himself, you doh have to vomit his nonsense on us. So “let the truth be known”.. that the gang of Skerrit are out there looking stupid while the big boys assets are high and mighty in the Big Apple and elsewhere.

I guess it is possible DNO has no one one monitoring the board because they would have told Y U run 4 that the PM was on a work assignment trying to get help for Dominica. Shame on you. Y U run 4.

Why must everything be about politics? In a time like this we need to be unified. Now is not the time to be identified as a Laborite, or Workers’, but as a United Dominican body. Dominica does not have the means to sustain itself and as the PM of the island he has to secure funds and assistance from somewhere. . .what better place than the U.N? Isn’t that why the U.N. was created?

Let’s put political views aside and support whoever is in charge and pray that he will get the country through this.

No that is not why the UN was created. It was created for a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT. Translation: Communism.
