GayleChris Gayle, according to suggestions in the Australian media, may be banned from the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia because of inappropriate comments which he made during a TV interview with Australian female journalist, Mel McLaughlin.
While many do not condone Gayle’s behaviour, which may have rightly been referred to as sexual harassment in the work place, many are wondering why a similar, seemingly more blatant incident involving a male Australian reporter, has received far less media coverage than that of Gayle, notwithstanding that it occurred within the very same week of what is now being referred to as Gaylegate!!

There is a time and place for every thing. The lady was disrespected LIVE for the whole world to see if he said that to her at a function or a bar that is acceptable a lot of black men in authority has huge egos especially if they well known. I played cricket in England against white teams and you’ll never know the profession of these until you socialize later at the bar but some of our guys wants to be seen to be important

Some people are so outraged and, the impression I get, disgusted. They act like the man was ogling the woman’s breast or tried to ‘feel her up’. I think he was just high of his victory and didn’t noticing her uncomfortable expression because he was excited. Before the interview was over he apologized.

I also think as a journalist she should be quick on her feet and should have thought of something witty to reply.

Whey Whey Whey — Black people like to press black people eh. I don’t see anything disrespectful, I see flirting, by the way the reporter was blushing for real, but because her co workers thought Gayle had a chance of grabbing her, they make an issue. Tell the Aussie’s free- up man

  4. January 18, 2016

Since when have our people lost their sense of reasoning and gotten so hooked up to all sorts of innuendoes. Using terms like inapropriate behaviour in the workplace. let’s be real, “Did the guy ask this waman to have SEX?”.How could an inocent “nice eyes lets have a drink later” cause so much pain and suffering that the rest of the world think Chris Gayle should be banned from all cricketing circles. Much-a-do-about- nothing; that hollier than thou attitude just doesn’t cut it.

  5. January 18, 2016

Unacceptable behaviour. I am invting you to church where you can learn biblical principles on how to respect women.

Sexual harassment in a work place my foot. From since when a man not supposed to complement a woman about her eyes or ask to join him for a drink. That same reporter was caught a couple of months before hitting on an athlete in a interview on camera on an Australian beach.double standards or sexism or i guess she was not on the job. Hypocrisy at its best

I think you all are right when you all say that because he is black and she is white the media is blowing it out of proportion. At the same time I credit the media for keeping this at the surface. People like this needs to be properly exposed and make an example out of. Here we have a fine West Indian with wicked talent showcasing his skills in a foreign land and instead of making us proud he represents us by displaying his dirty hammers live on TV? Mr. Boldface!!! He must have thought that because he’s a millionaire and wears stupid du rags along with some glittering earrings he could get anybody. Nice try!!! As a well-travelled guy he should have known that the low class ways in which he approached women in the Caribbean might not necessarily work internationally. New environments calls for new tactics. Learn that sir or keep your stuff in your pants. Better luck next time. I hope he has a wife somewhere looking at this. Money and fame isn’t everything.

Chris Gayle is ranked amongst the top 10 richest cricketers in the world, having been recently valued at about $30 Million dollars amassed over the years as a professional cricketer. If I was Chris Gayle I would stick one finger up to the racist Aussies and their big bash and concentrate on playing out my final days before retirement, playing in our local regional tournaments here in the Caribbean. Chris Gayle have nothing to prove to anyone, he’s done it all.

The career is sports… the game is money and the colors are black and white. the woman was pushed to fuel the controversy and its is expected in the sporting world that these comments come up from time to time. If you observed he did touch her.

Too much of the double standard and sexism in sports today. It’s all ok when a friend or some one you like makes a comment.

This is just media talk. The administrator of the big batch will not touch Gail because he is brings the crowd especially when his team plays. The man just scored fifty runs in twelve balls, therefore I believe Gail is going nowhere, money talks, cow manure walks.

If that’s true then he has certainly left the arena with a bang…

    Fastest Fifty in T20 Internationals

CHRISTOPHER GAYLE just equalled YUVRAJ SINGH’S (12 Balls – fastest 50 Runs) record in T20 Internationals, playing for Melbourne RENEGRADES against Adelaide STRIKERS, 18th January 2016.

Gayle’s immature misdemeanour does not justify the blatant double standard being called to attention here. But then this is Australia. Portraying the killing of the indigenous Aborigines reduced to a game ????

Approximately ten years ago women would not make a fuss about certain words. Today, it is different. Did his words insult her? If they did not, why make a fuss over it. She should have considered it a compliment.
All the same, times are not what they were previously. Today, people get offended for the slightest word said to them. What happened when women told men off for unbecoming behavior/words? Why take it so far?
In future, Gayle must be careful with his words. He may need to be taught a lesson. He should have been reprimanded and warned to refrain from such speech in future, otherwise. . . .
As for the Australian reporter, he did worst than Gayle. He hugged the woman on air. He should have been reprimanded, if not fired.
In this case, black man, white man. The different reaction is that these people are prejudice. If Gayle is banned he should sue them and use this man’s action as a defense in Court to project their discrimination against him.

You do not know who I am. I will not make you wise. Your generalization has no bearing on me.
Everyone has a different opinion. I have mine. You have yours. You are another one who has no respect for people and their opinion.
Each individual handles the situation differently. You cannot speak on my behalf. I cannot speak on your behalf.
I state, today, some people are too fussy. Gayle thought he was making a simple statement but it got thrown out of proportion. Yes, I hope he learned a lesson.
Australia is a prejudice country. Very little was made about the reporter who hugged the beauty queen. Much more was made about what Gayle stated to the woman reporter. Any sensible person should assume that there is some sort of prejudice and it is color prejudice. I am the last one to state “color” but in this case I will state it.
There are some conversations which I will not tolerate.
I am not a foolish person. I utilize my common sense. I have a lot of it.

And here you have it, a man can’t make a joke with a female, he didn’t say anything referring to sex as far as I could hear. But hear we are Caribbean people jumping against a man for making a joke “don’t blush baby”

Greg u self seem to have no respect for women….if u say something to someone and u hurt their feelings whether or not for uuuuuu it was a joke for the other person it was notttttt,,,,,,,some women do not like to be called baby if you don’t know them…not even that you can respect? I would see you standing by the road n just run up to you n push u down n tell u it was a joke??? learn to respect women,,some women don’t like it,

Silly comment . It waa meant to be a joke. He also apology. He should remember he is not in the Caribbean . He would get away with it if it has happen on an Caribbean television . You know we have noprofessionalism in the Caribbean .. I saw it as a joke anyway. Remember Australian have elements of rasism in them. SOME OF THEM DO NOT LIKE BLACK PEOPLE.

      • Face the Facts
        January 19, 2016

Years gone by Australia did not want black people in its country. If your skin is dark, they would not want you and did not accept dark immigrants.
As it was stated, the world would integrate in 20 years. This has occurred. Today, they have people from different nationality as Muslims; no doubt Hindus. Australia has set a regulation that they cannot come into their country and change it. Someone sent me an email to that effect. Unlike the US and Canada and no doubt Europe who have pacified them. Much more could be stated about that. God is good.

dummynican for real. You must be his girlfriend. if he was your neighbor you would veyer to try and find out to then run back and tell all and sundry who it is and all the details. Gayle most likely wouldn’t even see light on you especially since you like to assume on other people’s lives. whats funny is if you were the reporter i bet you wouldn’t have mind the little flirt live on tv, just so you can go tell your friends and family about it.

I am not condoning his behavior. I think it is uncalled for and reflects a cultural issue more than anything else. Sexual harrasment is virtually non existent in the caribbean. I know what i am talking about. However, I bet if was an Aussi cricketer it would not have gone that far.

August 28, 1955 Emmett Till was lynched for reportedly flirting with a white woman. This is 2016 and we are still in denial!

      • Shaka Zulu
        January 18, 2016

Up until the 1975 west Indies cricket team was still a spectacle. When Thompson and Lilly and those Brits use to try and take people head off with fast bowling they were heros. As soon as west Indies started returning the favour they were all of a sudden barbaric. The rules are now changed as a result. Now you can only bowl one. The cricket balls were altered. All because of west Indies. People attitude don’t change with time why the bible is still relevant today. Some things don’t change it just transform its ugly head. Feel free to disagree without passing judgement.

    • Teresa
      January 18, 2016

This has nothing to do with race and everything to do with respect for women. Obviously this clod has not evolved enough to realize that such behavior is not acceptable. If you’re making it a race issue it shows that you too have not evolved sufficiently.

      • LawieBawie
        January 18, 2016

You are missing the point all together. I don’t believe that anyone in this forum disagrees that Gayle’s behavior was rude and out of place. However, the manner in which it is being treated is questionable in light of the fact that other (white) people have done as bad or worse and have not been punished or fiercely debated as Gayle has been. This certainly lends itself to the question of racism.

      • Shaka Zulu
        January 18, 2016

What Gayle did was unacceptable I do not condone. It is unacceptable for anyone. However, I know and have seen better. You guys quick to Ponce on someone when race is used. It is the silent devil no one wants to touch. I bet will all I own that if it was a famous Aussi cricketer the news anchor would say yes and it would not have gone this far. What he did is unacceptable. See how easy it is for you to judge my evolution based on a simple opinion. You don’t know me one bit. It tells a lot about where we are and who has evolved. Keep it on. Smh.

Please think before you speak Shaka. If a white man treated one of our women like that would that be ok for you? I’m sure the world would be too small for you. Sometimes I think that chip on our shoulder is like a log keeping us down.

      • Shaka Zulu
        January 18, 2016

Go check your history and see how many mulattoes in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the rest of the Caribbean. What you think? Its because all those black women were throwing themselves at the foot of the massa., shouting take me take me? How many white men you ever heard lynched because they said hello to a black women. You want to run your ignorant as…… So don’t start your BS about white man treated one of our women. The fact remains that if it was an Aussi star this would not be a big deal. The news also mentioned Gayle as being a notorious womanizer. I am surprised someone did not accuse him of rape yet. Some of you want to pretend that racism is no more. All of a sudden we have chip keeping us down. Only an idiot would not consider race a factor. History does not lie. Anyway, I hope Gayle learn his lesson and be a bit more respectful cause he represent me and every other west Indies Blackman. All this idiots who say is not black and white are the first to label us as a result.
