As you all know Hurricane Maria has left the nation of Dominica completely crippled, cutting off electricity, telecommunication and water supplies across the island. The destruction is unparalleled. Although assessments are still being made and communication is slowly being restored it has become clear that the country is in desperate need of basic supplies.
Generously, several initiatives have sprung up in the wake of this disaster to attempt to alleviate any suffering for residents of the island. However, at DNO we are completely aware that there is a lot of information floating around the internet and we therefore have compiled a list of individuals and organizations leading such efforts, who have each been contacted and the particulars verified by DNO. Please note that this is an ongoing list so it will be updated if necessary. Additionally, we have included a general list of some of the most immediately needed items. Please support these efforts. The people of Dominica have a long, hard road ahead.

My husband and I will be in Dominica to help with cleanup and rebuilding efforts in a few weeks. We plan to bring a variety of clothes, food, first aid, and other items in an extra suitcase. Where can we drop off these donations once we arrive in Dominica?

info needed: Is the port accepting personal barrels?
amin: Yes
I would also like to know if there is anyone collecting items in South Florida.
Thank you.
Are there any locations in South Florida that are collecting supplies?

From Friday to no le I’ve been contacting this organization and keep getting the push around from the Maryland contact. This is really sad. I have a garage full of stuff and this organization still giving me the push around. A serious push around. Can’t help to wonder if I had $5213 thousand dollars, if I would still be waiting for it to be collected and whether I would get the push around.
Hang in there do not despair
I am encountering similar
try contacting delaware organization that is sending medical missions every two weeks is possible: they may have more capacity to accept your donations in a more timely manner:
All types of donations can be sent to Dr. Reynold Agard’s office at 314 E. Main St., No. 103, Newark, DE 19711. Checks should be made out to “Delaware Medical Relief Team.” Retired doctors or nurses who want to volunteer may call (302) 685-0181.
I am humbled by the outpouring of help I have received for Dominica. I am in the process of fundraising. I am personally giving 500 US, and planning on going to Dominica myself to bring at least three barrels of food, water and toiletries. It is difficult to get to Dominica by plane, but one can also take the ferry from Guadeloupe and St. Lucia. That is the route I am taking. I should be on island by October 7th, 2017. I will be helping to put up tarpaulins.
Please can someone tell me when and how I will be able to contact my friends on the Island. I only have a mobile phone number and am getting no response.
Where are the Barbados addresses? The Barbados Coast Guard is running a sea bridge to Dominica as they did after Tropical Storm Ericka . Businesses are chartering boats in Bdos to ship supplies. CDEMA and the RSS are headquartered in Bridgetown. Tons of supplies are being donated and no mention of Barbados or the collection points there.
This is a VERY helpful list. Thank you DNO for confirming and publishing a centralized/comprehensive list
Greetings DNO
Please add us to this list. Weʼre raising £200,000 to Assist hurricane-stricken victims of Hurricane Maria in Dominica.
Tomorrow we will transport 50 tins of baby milk to the Dominica High Commission in London from the funds we have collected thus far. We would love to be able to send 5000 tins. Thanks to donors thus far. This is a long – term commitment. Dominica is going to need much monetary and technical assistance for the foreseeable future. Again, whatever you can donate £1, £5, £10, £50, £500… whatever you are blessed to give.

Are ther any relief initiatives set in the UK. If so what is most needed and where can I offer assistance.
All those engaged in this timely and much needed activity of fund raising in gathering clothes etc for those affected by Hurricane Maria, we honour you and acknowledge your efforts for your country and those who are directly affected. Our people are really in need, continue to do your best to help and serve those who have become unfortunate due to the hurricane.
Dominica must rise again and win this battle. Dominica must also ensure it prepares itself fully in time for uncertainties and from the cry of nature. Disasters do occur and we must always be prepared that we are able to manage these eventualities to a minimum when it hits us. Our government must play a critical and pivotal role in this process ensuring that its institutions are not compromised and are in a state of professional preparedness and not be caught off guard. Too many incidents and disasters are managed from central government level with local government continue to lack the necessary resources to address locally.
We are doing a lot in the UK aswell.
