Family members of Shanice Jemmot are relieved now they have reunited with the rescued teenager.
Jemmot was taken to Princess Magaret Hospital for examination after police discovered her alive in the Hillsborough Estate area in St. Joseph Monday night.
Her mother Josette Paul, in very brief remarks to local media, said: “I feel happy, I jump up in the house.”
Doris Paul, Jemmot’s grandmother, was more forthright with reporters, saying she had become very stressed with Jemmot’s ordeal and had lost hope.
“I had a feeling she had die… I say Webster Edmund kill my child and he kill himself,” Paul stated.
Edmund was supposedly with Jemmot during the 40 days she had gone missing.
Paul said she never stopped thinking about her granddaughter.
Jemmot was expected to remain at the Psychiatric Unit for evaluation for at least 48 hours.

Thank God for the safe return of Shanice! Miracles happen everyday and this was nothing short of one. It doesn’t matter how hopeless or difficult a situation might be, it is never impossible for God to solve.
I know that she’s been through alot and it might take her a very long time to cope with what has happened to her; however, it is important that she doesn’t blame herself, feel guilty, or feel responsible for the young mans’ action!
To the family…. please be patient with her and do not pressure her into speaking about her ordeal. Just be there for her and be ready and willing to listen and understand her when she is ready to talk. Love her unconditionally, comfort her, and heal along with her. Because i know that the entire family was affected by this ordeal and is still hurting.

I am happy that she is home safe, however are there any facts to this young girl been held against her will? all im hearing is accusations against the guy, what are the circumstances surrounding her disappearance? It does seem interesting though that some time ago, kids we supposed to listen to their parent. interestingly- those kids were grown so much better.

Please pray for the mother we. Something is not right there. She needs all the guidance to help her with what she underwent. I know that desperate times call for desperate measures but based on her previous comments, I am a bit worried for them all. hopefully the next time someone goes to the police about abuse or someone making unwanted advances, they may do something about it. She came home alive, then next time it happens to someone and police turn a blind eye and deaf ear…that person may not be so lucky.

Being in Phyciathric ward do not mean the child is crazy or any body is mad. It is a department where you go for counseling and evaluations. Different test and evaluations are conducted to determine one’s mental and physical state. I hope she is doing ok and will conitnue to pray for allthe families involved
thank god she is found when she went missing and i read on dno the first ting i told my daughter is that the police should search her area where she was last seen then do a house to house then when i read the news it was confirmed that she was actually in the same area i called my daughter again and guess wat she said i was right so this is an example wen there,s missing persons in DOMINICA please consider doing house to house instead of tinking that they person or persons involved has ran overseas or is dead

let me commend the police and Dominicans by extension for a job well done. i listened with interest on the program “Matt in the morning” and i must say that our people are missing the poing. Firstly, we have all prayed in the best way we know how for God to bring this girl home safe. He has done that, how do we say “Thank you”, by forfeiting to give him the praise he deserve and turning on the persons through whom he answered our prayers. We need to learn to be a people of gratitude. Inspector Weekes did a splendid job during the interview with Matt. The police cannot speak of everything that they know. Whatever they say could be used against them. Also, we beat up on them for all the cases lost because of lack of proper investigation. We cannot allow this case to be thrown out of the Courts because of improper investigation. Also, the police need to be careful how much information is given over the airwaves. Any mistake made by them could result in the Accused lawyers asking for the matter to be dismissed if they feel that the matter has alread been tried by the public. Remember Dominica is small, and this is a matter to be brought before Jury and Judge. The police can’t keep talking all the time, this may prejudice the jurors minds and possibly result in a dismissal. Also, let’s not forget that if there is collaboration between the victim and the accussed, this could weaken the strength of the case. The victim could be subjected to all kinds of emotions. While we see the accused as a Villain she may see him as her knight. So this is a very sensitive issue and we need to allow the police to do their work without interference. In time, we will all know just what happened to this young girl. Until then, let’s not turn a joyous moment into a chaotic situation. Shanice needs all of us. We can allow the healing process to speed up by being positive and asking God to help us to not further cause this young girl’s pain by our careless negativity. GOD BLESS US ALL
