UPDATE: Warrant out for Ron Green to appear in court

Green

A warrant is out for United Worker’s Party leader Ron Green to appear in court to answer charges brought against him by the Integrity in Public Office (IPO) Commission.

Green is among 25 people in public office charged last year for failing to declare their assets to the commission for the year 2009.

Green was expected to appear in court this morning but he was a no-show.

Dominica News Online (DNO) had reported that a warrant was out for Green’s arrest but DNO has received new information which reveals that that the warrant is only for him to reappear in court to answer to the charges brought against him by the IPO Commission.

According to Green, neither he nor his attorney, knew about the matter in court and he was in fact at the hospital this morning visiting a member of the IPO Commission who had suffered a stroke last night.

His lawyer, David Bruney, has spoken to the relevant authorities and he will be in court tomorrow morning to be advised of the date when this matter will be heard.

It would appear to me that everything works opposite, or backwards in Dominica: if indeed an issued warrant in Dominica dictates that someone should appear in court, that tells me we are dealing with a legal system other than the common law system.

When a summon is served on an individual, that individual must appear in court on the date specified in the summon. However, when a warrant, or a precept, or writ issued by a competent magistrate, or judge, that is giving authorization to an officer of the law to make an arrest.

I can only assume if a warrant was issued with Ron Green name on it, the purpose of that should be for his immediate arrest, but since all things works in reverse in Dominica, my understand, and meaning of a warrant, in Dominica language of the law might warped too!

    Hahahahahahahahahahahah!

“According to Green, neither he nor his attorney, knew about the matter in court and he was in fact at the hospital this morning visiting a member of the IPO Commission who had suffered a stroke last night.”… Mr. Green should be arrested, for the simply reason that if the warrant was issued for member of govt or for someone associated with the govt, Mr. Green and his anti government group would call for the police to execute the warrant. Failure by the police to execute the arrest warrant, they would be accused by Mr. Green and his supporters of corruption.. Remember the Isidore matter?

        March 29, 2011

they wont fail to appear in court cause they know how they have the system wrapped around their finger.
it is interesting though that a notice to appear in court would have to have been given to mr. green right ?? because i would have to think that he was notified in some way that he was to have a court date. something don’t add up somewhere. it just don’t make much sense right now the way the story have been presented. there’s got to be more than just what’s up there.

Justice Justice Justice- What a word. One group of people rejoice when justice is supposedly ,apparently or truly served – case in point Ron Green or Lennox. The very same people say horah horah when justice is deliberately delayed – i.e Petta St Jean citizenship fiasco..

As often said – truth is perception justice an illusion.

Ron may or may not have declared his assets. Those who did; did they truly declare their assets and gifts? We all know the truth? Guess what those who falsely declared their assets are no different than Ron Greeen who did not declare his assets.

Every time smart people come out to defend those miserable politicians all in the interst of political Party I am reminded that D/ca is destined for failure.

    Correction

There is no arrest Warrant out for Mr. Green. There is a summon for him to appear at a later date.

Moreover, the charge is not for “failing to file in 2009″…it was for filing late…there is a difference.

Lord Help Dominica and all this madness.

You should educate yourself in the basics if you are so concerned. Come on now – the matter is before the courts – what other form of investigation is needed? It’s time for the case to be heard and a judgment given!!!!!!!!!!!!

The matter of Skeritts dual citizenship is before the courts. What you should be CONCERNED about is the dual citizenship of Ron green that was never investigated. Just to remind you Mr. Green served in parliament from 1990 to 2009, with dual citizenship and always travelled with his US passport…. is that double standard or segregation…please investigate!!!!!!!

Have faith in our police Mr. Green. An arrest warrant was issued for mr. Isidore for a far more serious matter and that was not executed either. I’m sure they’ll treat you with the same respect. After all, everyone is supposed to be equal before the law, not so?
