President of the Dominica Bar Association Wynant Adrian Roberts wants the authorities to speed up the passage of the Legal Profession Act in Parliament.
The much talked about Act will make provisions for lawyers who bring the profession into disrepute to be disciplined.
Roberts told the opening of the new law year Tuesday that the passage of the bill in Parliament is long overdue.
“The bill has had a first reading in Parliament twice. We look forward to another first reading and pray that this time it will be read again and again. We hope that the next first reading will be succeeded by the second and the third,” she said.
She said the Bar Association have heard many complaints being made against lawyers.
“I want to ensure the public that many persons recognize that the majority of lawyers in this jurisdiction are competent and they work for the common good,” she said.

when will we get that kind of justice in Dominica? when right is right and wrong is wrong no matter who does it….sigh it continues to be just a dream

Oh! OH! I didn’t realize Dominica had a bar They do? They really? My! My! MY!They all suck, every institution in Dominica sucks. When they get enough pressure, they pop their little shameless heads outside and soon as the pressure subsides they pull back into their holes.
They do have a bar but it is one that serves cognac,wine and cheese to all in the fraternity while the interest of the general public is left unserved.
