Break-in at State House

The State House at night
The State House at night

Dominica News Online (DNO) has received information on what appears to be a serious breach of security at the State House, which is the official residence of the President of Dominica.

A reliable source told DNO that between 3:00 am and 4:00 am on Sunday, a man jumped over the northern gate of the facility and entered its conference room.

The man proceeded to take down paintings from the wall and when confronted, he claimed he wanted to make a phone call.

A security officer was alerted of the man’s presence in the State House by an officer in the surveillance room.

The man, who appeared to be of unsound mind, has been arrested and transported to police headquarters in Roseau, the source said.

DNO is following this story and provide information as it becomes available.

This one time I have to be critical of the government… and the lackadaisical attitude towards crime as being common place. It is not! put cameras all over the government roads on the Island, make it law for business owners to have cameras at the their businesses if they require a license for the sake of public safety. Its time for these karwats to be eradicated or to crawl back in the hole they came from! Get these disgusting parro off the streets period the end! the morality level in this society is decaying at a fast pace because those tasked with the duty to serve and protect are sometimes themselves immoral. security is a serious thing… its not a joke! Every major crime that happen is the police fault because they are in the business of crime prevention not crime reaction! UDOHREADYET!

Seems that government building fence jumping has become a thing in the US and now Dominica. I will say the same for Dominica as I say for the US. Why not have an electric fence around the state house or white house in addition to beefing up security.

Savarin should be residing in his house at Elmshall like all other profound presidents before him. This should have been a hospital for Dominicans not a home for someone who has no characteristics of a president. Lazy lazy lazy lazy. That’s his characteristics The honourable Mary Eugina Charles was so correct about this man. A complete Judas

The State Palace where approximately 27 million dollars was spent to highlight the great development and success of Dominica. However, this success did not come from Dominica’s productivity and hard working Citizens. This State Palace, as well as most of our “newer” infrastructure, was built on the backs of the Chinese, Venezuelan and Moroccan tax payers, among others. A State Palace that is now reported to be deteriorating and plagued with plumbing issues. A State Palace that now stands as an insult to suffering Dominican’s who are unable to find work, get to their farms or simply get paid for work rendered to this Government. The State Palace being broken into is the least of our worries. It’s Christmas and many Dominicans cannot buy a gift for their children or pay their bills. I hope this person went in to get some of all that food they have there for the great Baroness’ Welcome Ball! Hunger causes desperation!

FREEDOM and UWP didn\’t have the know how to build one that we can be proud of. Dominicans need to be self sustainable as in the days of old so it\’s a good thing we get of our lazy asses and farm and stop waiting on Government to do it for us. Their are programs in place and yall just ignore them. Learn to feed yourselves and contribute to the economy by helping to export fruits.

I believe that was a test to see how secure the place was before the haters decide to attempt their moves. Security needs to be beefed up. With all those threats made against the President and PM vigilance need to be exercised.

    Security breach?
Laughable! However, the case is now made for obama style security!
Again, we are not all dotish out there!
If pelham jno baptiste doesn’t clear de story I am prepared to consider this a carefully crafted ploy against the unsuspecting docile citizens!
    Personally I am still laughing!
    I thought security was tighter!
De safety of president savarin and his wife now comes into question!
    Remember G O N Emmanuel?
De man life and that of his wife was seriously threatened!

I hope someone isn’t playing with our minds right now!
I want to hear a report from pelham jno baptiste!
    De party is tonite!
If I don’t hear from de police PRO I will consider this a seriously damaging hoax!!!
