Only sissies and cowards resolve problems with violence.
As the old saying goes, habits at home carried abroad. As a result, our society gets contaminated.
There is obviously a hatred and anger problem in our society. We need to come together with colaborative efforts to implement rehabilitative programs within our cities to help prevent the cycle of such horrific acts

We need a paddy wagon to follow the tramp and let the good for nothing that cannot obey rules be sent to jail for the duration of the festivities.

Have you ever seen people in a Carnival band fasting, praying and singing praising God?????
The Devil come to steal, to kill, and to destroy.
As long as you are in his path you are vulnerable.

Haiti we sorry, some amongst us want the police to fail for those loosers to do what they do best critized and complain. Law and other must be maintained at all times, our police force is always pro active and we cannot compromise life and property at the expence of Law breakers. Yes the police job is to Educate, and dispense information in order to keep our citizens safe. The ones who wine and say the police talking too much are the ones who are most often waiting for the police to fall asleep and then they go on their crime spry, it`s not going to happen not in our police force we have the best police force bar none in the Entire Caribbean we should allow it to be that way. Thanks to all Law abiding citizens and for our police force for maintaining peace and ensureing we are all safe. Like it or not again”LAW AND ORDER MUST BE MAINTAINED AT All times. Thanks to our brothers and sisters who do the job right all the time. Peace. Former Detective and proud to have served my country.

Why can’t our young people play mass in a clean and violent free way? Why does every ultercation has to end with violence? Jah guide over all your children throughout this carnival and forever more and don’t let lucifer get the upper hand!!! Jah Rastafari !!!!!!

Dominica is becoming a lawless island full of people with bad behaviour, thy get away with lots of wrong decisions made by the judicial system, Dominican people suppose to be nice people, when a person commit a serious crime, they should be imprisoned for quite a long time, people committing Haynes crime such as murder should served sentences in full.

Soufriere killers are out on bail with premeditated murder. It’s a great joke

This has nothing to do with Dominica becoming a lawless country. This problem has been going on for years when young men use the cover of carnival to strike at the enemies. They wait a whole year for carnival and when guys think that their problem with someone is over, they are caught sleeping and are attacked without knowing.

    February 16, 2015

This is sad. A man is out enjoying himself and found himself in such a situation. I feel extremely sorry for him. What was the reason for stabbing him? What did he do to deserve this?
Why can’t some people enjoy themselves without harming others? When going out especially for the purpose of entertainment and being among your fellow Dominicans who are present for the same purpose, those who have guns and other weapons must leave them at home. DO NOT CARRY THEM WITH YOU! It is so easy for those who are also short-tempered to use them especially during a simple argument and disagreement. Be civil towards your fellow people.
These people must learn to enjoy themselves without friction and getting into a fracas with others to the point of injuries and fatalities.
Life is worth living and enjoying. I am hoping there will be no more such incidents during the rest of Carnival.

What is really going on in Dominica? So you mean say that people cannot enjoy themselves peacefully anymore without crime and violence? The death penalty really needs to be reinstated. It is just not humane that someone should take another life. It doesn’t matter what issues people have among or between them, that’s not the way to solve any issue.
The government needs to intervene and really address these animalistic behaviours that have permeated in our society. It is very sad for the man to lose his life in that way and I extend my condolences to the family and friends.
So sad, so sad, so sad.

  29. February 16, 2015

Sad, Sad, but we have to await the details. one incident, is one too many. cant stop our tradition for the very few amongst us who are bent on creating problems. There is more of us than those trouble makers. Pray, pray, and pray. also throw those loosers in a dark hole. If we stop our carnival for the sake of those loosers, they win. hell know! flush them out, and let Law abdiding citizens enjoy them selves.

Cancel carnival for the next 5 years

  32. Just My 2 Cents
    February 16, 2015

My only suggestions is that during events like carnival, creole festival and independence day festivals, maybe the law enforcement can use a different approach in limiting such from happening. My vote is for undercover police officers roaming the sidelines or even going through the crowds not making themselves known. I am not sure if this is already being done but I sure didn’t notice that when I was visiting for carnival. Either that or more CCTV within Roseau (I am willing to make a donation). My sympathy goes out to this young man family but these sort of events can certainly be minimized.

In other words some people are going out to stab and kill is possible,,,it is intensional.why go to a fete with a weapon, these criminal should be punished very severely because there is no need to party with a knife in your pocket,it’s party and fun time not gardening nor butchering time…hope the crimanal in found as quick as possible…

Already!!! I hope that the CCTV cameras caught the perpetrator in the act and that they will be arrested immediately and charged with the said offense. No bail till after the carnival and then will eventually brought to justice.

This incident has dampened the carnival spirit. Is there any arrest made?

  42. February 16, 2015

  44. February 16, 2015

I believe this can be stopped, but do we want it to. I live in NY for over 15yrs and the word “PROFILING” comes to mind. Well, the detractors in NY dislike it when NYPD profile base on race, however I believe it has it’s place; for example Dominica is a small country and we simple need to have a data base on who are the trouble makers, who are the individuals base on age group and lifestyle prone to violence, utilization of district policing to collect data on the habits/criminal behavior of individuals in the villages and forward it to HQ. Finally, we in Dominica are too passive, I look at the police and the manner in which they perform their duties and I ask myself a few questions: 1) Why would the police with all these motorcycles not stage a surveillance by PWC intersection /Old Mill and Nappa intersection to monitor speeding involving the mopeds weaving through traffic and passing vehicles on the left side. Finally, anything we allow might transfers into a criminal behavior
