UPDATE: Sherman Webb charged with murder of Barbadian

Deceased, Corey Poleon of Barbados. * Photo taken from Facebook

Sherman Webb has been formally charged for the murder of Barbadian Corey Poleon who went missing from his country last year.

The case relates to the skeletal remains that were found in Elmshall a few months ago. The remains are that of Poleon, police say.

Webb was charged yesterday. According to the charge, Webb allegedly killed Poleon between August 31, 2009 and March 18, 2010.

Webb had been on remand for a separate offense for several months but was released earlier this week and rearrested and charged for the murder of the Barbadian. He was not represented by a lawyer when he appeared before a Roseau Magistrate yesterday afternoon.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 28.

The Nation News in Barbados had reported that Dominican detectives traveled to Barbados to secure data about 23-year-old  Poleon’s  medical history and dental records to positively identify the remains.

Poleon of St. Lucy, Barbados is believed to have been the victim of a gruesome killing by a Dominican involved in a satanic ritual, according to the Nation News.

Deputy Police Commissioner Cyril Carette had  told the media that police were led to the area where they discovered the bones on March 19, 2010.

It was reported that a young man was assisting police with investigations. Later in March, Carette said police were awaiting the report of the analyst to determine an identity of the bones.

Investigators reportedly found several bits of paraphernalia related to some form of satanic ritual at the suspect’s home, the Nation News stated.

The Barbados newspaper also stated that detectives found a rubber wristband engraved with the name Corey Poleon in a shallow grave. The band carried the insignia of a Barbados flag.

@MangoSweet: Those stinking bajans will talk about it but they will not talk about the bajan man that was having sex with dead women in the h ospital. Sherman is nota product of Dominica. That is a sick troubled person who was created elsewhere and sent to Dominica.

@dominican: I disagree with you. That is a security risk and a fundamental violation of someone right. They would only lose that right if they commit a crime. A law like that will never fly. Try understanding forensics before watch CSI and try to apply in in a context that has not relevance kid.

@Les Pwi Mal Papi: Really? Well we’ll see about that nuh. And as far as I am aware, there is no statute of limitations on murder…so in other words, if police get evidence of who set fire to the victims in Carnival 1963, they will be arrested.

Whoever this “YES” is: I’m perplexed that you would even mention this deplorable gabbage and Lie about Jumbee and posessed and Jumbee killed the bajan, What a shame ; what stupidity human beings intoxicates themselves in . Did the Child he kidnapped from school, Did that Kid followed him to the river too? Did that Kid followed him to his home too.? If the police had not reach that piece of Black trash in time to save the kidnapped victim, he too would have met the same fate, then the Jumbee and posess story would be the same for the kid. When will Dominicans stop telling lies and liatening to deplprable nonesence. we are what we do and t we are the gabbage we listen too

DNO Sherman Webb was charged would you kindly put his picutre up at least going into court if you have :)

This is disturbing having dirty hands is one but “satanic ritual” involving sacrificng humans – this is s a stretch. We have enouh issues in Dominica already to add to our woes with this.

@Les Pwi Mal Papi: Dude do you know that there are cases that go unsolved for years!!! Then suddenly a breakthrough is made 5,10, 15, 20 years lately and the person is charged with the crime.

Give the police a break!!! I think the police are doing their best with the very limited resources that they have and our outdated court system.

    September 18, 2010

@Les Pwi Mal Papi: the six month’s span is for particular offenses. this is not an assault or theft you know. This is amongst the most serious of all the indictable offenses. don’t you think that he would have assisted the officers under caution ( he need not say or do anything and that should he say or do anything, a record will be taken thereof)?

  18. j
    September 18, 2010

    @Les Pwi Mal Papi:
i think its simply because we dont have any forensic lab here. so that time fram accounts for the time taken to send the remains overseas to get the necessary information needed to bring charges

  19. Les Pwi Mal Papi
    September 18, 2010

did anyone notice that the time of the incident given by police is a 6 month span. Wow how do you nail some one for a crime and you time frame is so long. Easy win for Dyer again. Dyer 1000 and police 0. Murder is the easiest charge to beat in Dominica because of sloppy police work.

  20. Heartfelt
    September 18, 2010

@Dominican in ny: You cannot compare the populations of the two countries but you can make comparisons based on population percentage. And in this regard Dominica has a lower crime rate.

This was indeed a disturbing story all around. it smacks of the kinds of sociopaths that we have living amongst us and we do not even know it. Let me preface this by saying; what I am about to share is entirely hearsay and I do not know if it is true. It does make for interesting reading though.

I guess it was confessed that he had no intention to kill the poor guy. Apparently he woke up that morning and was about to leave the guest at home. The guest wanted to go sight seeing. He told the guest to stay in the house and not to follow. What did curious Bajan do? He followed to the river where the ritual was about to take place. Once the guest was spotted, a circle of protection was created for him and he was instructed that, no matter what he saw/heard, or even felt, he should remain in the circle until the proceedings were over and done with.

So ritual starts and whatever jumbee made its appearance, possessing the body of the one who had summoned it from whence it came. Poor guest was so scared by what he saw/heard, he followed his first instinct and ran like the wind. Well that was the biggest mistake because he was specifically instructed not to move from the circle of protection. So anyway the young man tried to escape. That is when the jumbee, having possessed dude, as was customary for the ritual, tracked down the guest and killed him.

I don’t know if that is how it happened. i am thankful i was not there ot witness. people must realize that just as there is good there is evil. There are people who are quite skilled in dealing with the occult and can have the spirit world do their bidding. When someone warns you about these things, for your own safety, heed the warning, it could save your life. In this world no man knows everything and you have to make allowance for doubt and benefit of the same.

I am really sorry that the young man had to die such a horrible death. Hope once his remains are consecrated and buried under the proper religious rites, he soul will rest in peace. At least now his loved ones know where he met his demise. This is just really saddening notwithstanding all the other peripheral stories and cases that surround this one.

When I saw Sherman walking the street yesterday, I was not shocked. The offense he was first arrested for, I knew would not go to trial, because the parents of the boys would not want to put their kids through an embarrassing trial. The same thing happened before; he was arrested for an alleged sexual offense on a young boy and the case went the same way.

This guy is very dangerous! It’s believed that his family is afraid of him. He killed a young man in the area some years ago stabbing him several times and got away with self-defense. If DNO get a pic of him, most of you all will not recognize him. You have to be from the area to know him, since he more or less walk the streets late at night and has never had a job.

  31. September 17, 2010

To whom it may concern. Cry till the cows comes home, you have no clue of how investigations and the role of the polic in realeasing certain information, not because you`re siting in the comfort of your house and have access to a computer critizing every thing and every body, that does not entitle you to demand answers from any source much less to question the work of the police and how long or how short the police takes to crack any case for that matter. MR it just shows how bright you are not to understand that in a muder case and other so called big cases it can take months and sometimes years for an investigation to complete. We really have to educate our self and get the facts before we jump to conclutions. I am so sick of this that i decided to stop geting upset over certain post on D.N.O. ” One day, the light will shine on your brain.

I met corey when he arrived here and the lil i knew about him- is the lot that this so called christian nation is playing shy from ——yes corey was gay but in Dominica. undoubtedly there are many men who go behind the door of secrecy to be who they really are sherman is possessive and would never have allowed himself to loose corey atleast now corey can ride safely home in peace —– I know that the gay community in Dominica is quite large and one must never think that its non -existent instead every parent should now get into the lives of their sixteen year old sons , and ask them about themselves and how they intend to live their lives dont be afraid of asking your son /daughter if they are gay or feel so at times — give them your love as a parent America has accepted it and they are the ones who pushed christian ethics on us now they no longer pray in schools — sooner or later we will just have an outburst of boys who will begin to get suicidal because they are fraustrated from lying to themselves —-about who they are — it was also rome who brought us catholicism and rome marries homosexuals all the time its the city of “Romance ” is it not ——- now more catholic traditional Countries such as spain celebrate more gay marriages — so to hell with those who felt however they did about Corey he did not choose to be gay it just happen that this was his uttermost lifestyle —– in Dominica you all need to check your in the highest places before now a particular media house had about three now it only has one now more than ever it is evident that a whole lot of the men on the island have the traits and do make contact with us all the time we are proud to know that they know who they are but stop throwing (thats for Dominicans ” stones —cause you all live in glass houses now more than ever before
