Chinese nationals to know fate on Tuesday

The Chinese after appearing in court

The case involving three Chinese nationals who pleaded guilty to theft has been adjourned to Tuesday January 17, 2017.

The three,Yulong Xie, Jianhui Wen and Yong Zhong were arrested and charged for the theft of EC$104,705 between July 5-9 2016, the property of the National Bank of Dominica (NBD).

The facts of the case were to have been presented to the court on January 13, 2017 followed by sentencing but the prosecution told the court that they need a few more days to deal with the matter.

State prosecutor in the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Karlita Benjamin, told the court that the DPP, who has conduct of the matter, was unwell and requested more time.

The court adjourned the matter to January 17, 2017.

Wayne Norde, who represents the men, while not objecting to the brief adjournment told the court that the men have been committed to stand trial since November 2016 and also gave an early indication that they were going to plead guilty.

He asked the court to fixed an early date for the matter to be dealt with ( January 16, 2017).

“I pray and beg for Monday January 16, 2017…they have been in custody since July 2016 and want that matter over,” Norde told the court.

In other court news, Nadisha Drigo Denizene pleaded not guilty to two counts of theft. She is charged with stealing between April 25, 2014 and March 7, 2015 animal feed costing $82,753.05 of the Portsmouth Animal Feed Center.

She is further charged with stealing $16,382.20 from the same business place on the same date.

Wayne Norde is her lawyer.

You allowed three Chinese nationals to enter your country.

And what thanks did you get for it? They rob one of your banks! This should make any free democratic nation cautious who they allow in from China.

A friend of mine – the lead pastor of a large Canadian church – visited China to speak at a convention. While he was speaking he was arrested and thrown in prison. Thank God he is home now and has since built another church in Canada, this one seating 1,200 people.

On the other hand it has caused me to lose any desire I had to visit China. It amazes me that it does not even occur to the Chinese that the way they treat outsiders would deter people from visiting and hurt their tourist trade. They actually advertise on Canadian T.V. to get our people to vacation in China.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. 8)

There are people incarcerated in Chinese prisons for simply opposing the Government. These individuals committed a crime and the lawyers are complaining about the length of time they have been in custody?

    • January 17, 2017

In China you do not have to oppose the government to be incarcerated. You only need to disagree with the government.

At the time of the revolution they drove our missionaries out. But today there are more Christians in China than at any other time in history :!: The good news that they can be saved by faith in Jesus Christ and his death on he cross for sinners apart from their own good works finds a place in their hungry and aching hearts.

Please get your Bible and read:

      Isaiah 53:4-6
      1 Corinthians 15:1-4
      Romans 1:16
      Romans 5:1
      Ephesians 2:8,9
      1 John 5:11-13

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist. (Just a teller of good news.)
