UPDATE: Coca Cola in Fond Cole robbed

Police are in search of three men following a robbery at the warehouse of Josephine Gabriel and Company, distributors of Coca Cola, in Fond Cole.

The masked men held an employee at gun point before making good their escape at about 6:30 last night.

According to reports from an employee Gerald George the men, who were armed with cutlasses and guns, tied up one of the female clerks.

“They young lady who was on shift was tied up and held at gunpoint. She was there doing her work when she said she saw three masked men sneaked up on her. They held her and brought her at the back where they thought money was being held,” he explained.

He said they stole an undisclosed amount of money and this is not the first time that the company has been robbed.

“As to what they left with, I am not at liberty to say. We have had a few robberies but around that time of the day, I did note expect something like that to happen. We are thankful that our coworker is alright and not too drastic happened to her. She is a bit traumatized but that’s about it,” George stated.

The traumatized clerk was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Coca Cola should also have a metal detector with an alarm system or siren which will activate when they try to gain entrance. When it sounds this should alert the authorities and also scare the thieves away.
It would also be a good idea to have a pepper spray to spray their faces when they try to enter.
Thieves that they are. It is a sure Hell for them for under no circumstances, Thou Shalt Not Steal.
No excuse for them if they are unemployed. How many people who are unemployed who turn to a life of crime? They could get a monthly allowance from the Social Security. They want quick money and a lot of it, no doubt, some of it for drugs. They had a wicked plan which they carried out.
It happened once. Whoever they were they got off scot free. The money which they previously stole ran out. Therefore they decided to return and steal again.
Coca Cola should take precautions that this does not recur. Coca Cola must install a camera which will take their pictures as soon as they enter the premises. Should they try it again they will be caught. Take steps to prevent this from recurring.

1979 Lives and others like him are in distress. Pay PWC workers. I’m standing up for him on that issue because he is crying out for justice. When persons work hard, they need to get paid. It’s at those times the devil taunts us and we engage in all sorts of things we would not have normally gotten ourselves into. PAY DE MAN!!!

iI am not in no position to say but that have to be a person who knew the runnings, someone who most likely worked there. How would a person who new nothing about the place take the girl to where the money was. How did they know she was there alone and what time to come. I might be wrong but it sounds like that person works or worked there recently.

Who is the first suspect in this crime? According to good police rule it would be the employee. I hope the police can get it right , because them days Dominicans get real smart on crime. you would be surprise to know how far some people go. Now i am not say that the employee did it . i am happy to know that they are all fine .

Personally i think (1979 LIVES!!!) has a legitimate concern and we should not turn our backs on him. I don’t think he is saying its ok for people to commit crime but more so we must do what is necessary to prevent it from happening. 1979LIVES!!! My God, our people at really out of hand now.

Time to Fast and Pray that these perpetrators stop their evil behavior at terrorizing and robbing people and business places.

I pray healing upon this employee who had to experience this ordeal it could still have been worst. Thank God for keeping you safe.

To these wicked people the word of God states that “by the sweat of thy brow that you shall earn your daily bread” not by robbing and worst again holding one at bay with a Gun or any other weapon.

Persons who do those things are under the influence and the power of the devil and the world. Oh my people come back to your senses and turn to God the one who created you in his own likeness and image and send the devil back to where he belong.

Christianity is finished my friend. People are leaving the churches in drones in Europe and they are being placed by masjids (Muslim places of worship). People are coming in drones to Islam as it is the fastest growing religion in the world today.

      • October 13, 2011

See what them Muslims are doing in Egypt to the Christians Muslims, Christians all are the same none is better than the other, Faith in God this is what we need to have not faith is man

        October 13, 2011

        @ Abu Sulayman

With a name as this I expect you would say something like that but you are OH SO WRONG! as you depend on your own understanding.
Christianity was founded by Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is hear to stay until you, I and others are called to our judgment. Then it is Heaven or Hell as each one deserves according to their words and deeds.
Do not worry about those who leave the churches. I would not exult this if I were you. Holy Scriptures: “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” You, too are living in darkness and of the soul.
They are responsible for their own salvation. They do not know how ignorant they are and how much they err. Some people are adopting a capitalist and materialistic lifestyle including other sinful ones. This accounts for their falling away from The Church. They will pay for it in the end. It has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity which is here to stay as God has ordained.
As long as they are alive, there is still hope for them. They will return, when their lives become one of misery and they have nowhere to turn. Then they will turn to God and His Church, namely Christianity. It has happened before. While this world continues it will recur. Wait and see, if you live long enough.
Your so-called religion is finished even before it stated for it was not founded by God but by a sinful man. Ask yourself. Where is his soul now? I bet you do not know. He has left sin and violence behind him.
It is stated in the New Testament of the Holy Bible: “Some people’s sin precede them to eternity. Others are followed by their sins. Take this and smoke it in your pipe.  He who laughs last gets the last laugh. This will be the Christian faith and Christians who persevere to the end.

My question to you all, why have any of you decide to go and rob someone? The answer is so true, you all have moral and principle. you all rather work hard for you call children milk.

If these are your answer to my questions, then you all should condem the crime that has been committed and stop finding reason why your brothers out there who are lazy, wicked, no ambition, wishes to make fast money and bent on distroying other to satisfy their dirty habits.

1979 LIVES, I’m really sorry you’re going through this very difficult time. I admire your desire to be a good example for your children. In enduring this hardship WITHOUT resorting to crime like others do, you are ALSO being a fine example for your children. You are teaching them to wait patiently on God to act for you instead of sinning against God by committing a crime to care for your needs. The Bible tells us that we are living in the last days of this wicked system of things, and unfortunately, injustice is part of the sign. 2Timothy 3:1-5. Happily though, Jehovah God has promised to end this wicked system and solve all our problems by means of his Kingdom which we pray for in the OUR FATHER prayer. Matt. 6:9,10. Micah 4:3,4. Don’t give up. Be patient. Keep trying to be a fine example. It will pay off. Trust in God.

People, I think that you all sound like you are judging 1979lives without actually hearing his cry of pain!! That is so unfair because anyone of you could at any time, become unemployed or unpaid and feel the pinch as much as or more than he is!! With a false economy anything can happen!!!!!! The economy appears to not be functioning and many folks going unemployed but the government seems to be able to blind certain persons because they are pumping FALSE money into the economy for them to think that they are providing for the people!!! If you have no money to pay salaries, how is it that you are able to run a RED CLINIC and give out money to ‘the poor’? (Remember that there are many POOR people out there who simply will not go to a red clinic because they recognise how degrading and detrimental it can be for them long term). Where is the money coming from? China and Venezuela want their pup-its to remain in power for their own selfish gain and so they will pump it in their saying ‘Here, fool them fools!!!! Keep them in line!!!Make them dependant then we will have them by the b.lls!!!!!’ We had better understand the cry of this brother and recognise that there are many more silent ones like him out there suffering!!!! Come together Da and realise where we are going!!!! Don’t say ‘We cannot stop the Chinese from coming here’…….it is your country!!!!!!!! When the colonising forces tried all those years ago, did the natives say ‘Oh, we cannot stop them’? No!!!!!! They stood up for their land and died for it, many of them!!! And they went down in history as brave and proud people who fought for their cause!!!!!!!!! Wake up and start feeling for those around you who are suffering and may feel too weak to fight and fight for them and for your country’s future and destiny!!!!!!! Wake up and be Dominican!!!!!!!!!!! One love my people……….. By the way, I want to ensure that it is clear that IN NO WAY DO I CONDONE THE ACTIONS OF THE CRIMINALS ON ANY LEVEL!!!! THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE HUNTED AND SHOULD FACE THE FULL FORCE OF THE LAW MANY TIMES OVER!!!!!!!! Over and above anything else because they actually think that they have the right to threaten someone’s life and expose them to such terror??? The laws at home I think need to be reviewed and upgraded with increased sentences for any crime involving the use of a deadly weapon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lose them in jail, put them in shackles and take them out five days a week to work in the hot sun with orange jackets on and let them pay for their transgressions while here on earth!!!!!! They have no excuse whatever!!!!!!!! All I am saying is that it is clear that something has FUNDAMENTALLY changed in our society today and if we don’t stop that runaway train and the driver in the seat, WE ARE DESTINED TO TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES!!!!! The robbery is unfortunate, but i’d be more concerned as to where they acquired the guns and who is supplying them on island. Taking down three men is child’s play. Three men with guns and things become more complicated and dangerous. Robberies always happen once opportunity presents itself but gun control really seems to be out of hands and needs to be suppressed urgently.

Well I’m not condoning these types of actions, but in the absence of jobs it leaves this feeling of desperation that eventually leads to crimes of this sort.

We are having a serious increase of those types of activities, a foreigner lost his life a few months ago. How do you address a problem like this? Increase police security, yes that’s an option, but would that address the root of the problem?

The country needs a boost in economic activities. We see all these road projects and stuff going on, but our young men and women are still on the side walks…how do we address that?

This is serious, and it could be anyone of us next…in the absence of good government intervention we just have to continue to pray for God’s guidance for ourselves and families and to look out for each other the best we can.

    God help Dominica!

BULLS**T… don’t blame the govt for these lazy a$$ people. so because i don’t have a job i should go tie up folks at gun point? is this the way you justify the crap these young people are doing? chupssss….. Go bag groceries at the supermarkets and stores, go by the seaside and help the fishermen to pull the boat in, do something to make a dollar instead of stooping this low. Young people have become lazy, according to the calypso, they want it now they don’t want to work for it. On the streets blinging with stolen goods ain’t cute at all…

I agree with you my brother in many ways! Dominica never had such a great difference between those in power and those who are ordinary citizens, as it does now!!!! Ministers would drive their own cars, live in their own homes, earn and live off relatively low salaries, Presidents would do the same!!! Now it appears that all ministers are getting rich on the backs of poor taxpayers and blinding people with pretty roads and buildings while they in government are driving around in top rate, highly expensive vehicles, paid for and maintained by the government at taxpayers expense!!!!! The President all of a sudden is waiting for a Duvalier style palace to be completed and the country is more divided than ever and WE ARE CALLING THAT PROGRESS???? Drug dealing and drug use shoots up AND WE ARE CALLING THAT PROGRESS??? Prostitutes are being given visas and protection by law enforcement when it is clear that that is what they intend to do for a living AND WE ARE CALLING THAT PROGRESS??? The youth are loosing control of their morals as they see the adults doing the same or simply giving in and not taking a moral stand AND WE ARE CALLING THAT PROGRESS???? The prostitutes take up jobs that Dominicans would do if given the opportunity, they work those jobs in daylight hours and rip off our men by night, then send the money away to their families AND WE ARE CALLING THAT PROGRESS????? Violent crime and drug related crime are on the rise steadily and with no serious action on the part of the authorities in terms of taking stock of that and seeking to develop strategies to counteract these developments, AND WE ARE CALLING THAT PROGRESS????a, WE ARE CALLING THAT PROGRESS????? Well we are progressing my people slowly in the direction of self destruction so we had better wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To bring TRUE progress to your country you must first bring progress to your mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        @ LawieBawie

All major stores in those countries have close circuit TV; even convenience stores. The big ones also have security guards who are well armed. The shopping malls also have security guards and occasional Police surveillance in the malls. If they try this, not too many of them will get away with it. They may also be caught outside. Furthermore some good Samaritans could catch them, preventing them from getting away and wait for the Police to arrive to arrest them.
There are some stores as Walmart who also have security in the inside front of the stores. When customers are going out with their purchases, they have to produce their receipts. The security checks their purchases. Also, if the alarm goes off when they are going through the door, they are called back and are checked again. The security makes a note of it because the alarm went off; the latter for the security department files. Sometimes the scanner may not have scanned the purchase(s) properly.
If customers are coming in with a parcel, be it to return an item or more, they are given a sticker by the security.
Whenever I go to Walmart and am leaving, I keep my receipt close at hand. There is one specific store where the security guard has seen me often enough :), he just lets me pass without scrutinizing my purchases. He tells me go on. This is trust. However, knowing the store policy, I always keep my receipt in my hand to show in the event I have to do so. This store also has a CCTV so someone is looking at the customers while entering, shopping and going out.
In this era residents have alarm systems. Granted professional thieves know how to gain entrance.
I saw an interesting TV advertisement (commercial) by Alarm Force. If someone gains forceful entrance to a home and the residents have this alarm installed, the alarm goes off with the words, “…Police is dispatched.” I love that one. This will scare the thief or thieves and make them get “the hell” :) out of there immediately.
Thieves will find all ways and means. It is left to the business owners and also residents to protect their property.

‘What you expect’. Is this your contribution on crime.

Sorry for the employee(s) who had such a traumatic experience.

Once again some are pointing blame on the economy. Well thats a cop out, there will always be mindless, lazy, individuals, no matter what the economy is like.

Start asking where the guns are comming from. Start demanding that the courts lock up these idiots for a long time (hopefully sending out a message to deter others). Dont always blame the lack of parenting (some with stable backgrounds still comit crime). Business should all install CCTV, they should start thinking of their employees and not just their profits.
