Cocaine in crotch lands man in prison

Floyd Green will spend the next two months at the Stock Farm Prison as a consequence of his drug habit.

The Roseau man appeared before Magistrate Candia George at the Roseau Magistrate Court Thursday afternoon where he pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of cocaine.

According to the facts of the matter from police prosecution, on July 12, police was on patrol at the River Bank area, where they met the defendant whom appeared suspicious. The authorities informed the defendant that they would like to search him and proceeded to do so.  During the search a Hillsborough Special Cigarette box was found in the crotch of the defendant pants in which he kept the content of the drugs.

“On the ground I just get that,” the defendant told police during investigations.

Green who was not represented by counsel made a plea in mitigation on his own behalf.  “Your Honor, I have a new job at a car rental, I would like to pay a fine,’ the defendant indicated to Magistrate George.

In handing down the sentence Magistrate George considered the conviction history of the defendant.

“The fine did not work last time, am not fining you again, I am sending you away for a little while so you can reflect on your bad habits,” Magistrate George told the defendant.

The big question is, how is cocaine being smuggled on the island?

Second, I strongly believe our law and enforcement agency have knowledge of the cocaine dealings in this country. They willfully want the market here.

Corrupted politicians love drug Lords to help them finance their political campaign. They don’t give a damn about cocaine on the market.

I dislike these corrupted people. Don’t worry, the day of jihad will come in this country, serious revolution to eradicate this poison from the land in sha Allah.

Yes magistrate, and he will come out a completely changed person.

Is this magistrate for real? How simplistic can she be making that statement?

its seem that most persons who do give comments knows who the big boys are. so help the country by informing the police as to who they are ,then if the police refuse to get the evidence and bring them to justic then blame the police. remember while u may not be directly affected today u might be 2morrow or some family member may already be affected

Police do not need a warrant to search you on the street. It’s called ‘stop and search’. If you are acting in a suspicious manner you can be stopped and searched. They only need a warrant if they are entering your home.

I do not condone any kind of drug activity. Not users, not pushers and definitely not enablers. Enablers are those who know and continue to turn a blind eye. This guy had a minute amount of drug for personal use. What about the drug lords with kilos of drugs? This is what we need to fight. Those are the ones we need to jail. We need to clip the source. What we end up doing is jailing the small time users and fining the big papas. I always question the decisions of persons who spend years studying and who are supposed to be intelligent.
