Dallas officer kills St. Lucian after mistaking his apartment for her own

Jean is a St. Lucian

A Dallas, Texas, officer fatally shot a 26-year-old man from St. Lucia on Thursday night when she entered his apartment in Dallas, mistaking it for her own, police say.

Media reports indicate the officer was not hurt in the 10 p.m. shooting and the man has been identified as Botham Shem Jean.

According to the reports, the police officer arrived at the apartment complex after working a full shift and was still in uniform when she entered Jean’s apartment, thinking it was her home.

No details were given on what happened next but the officer eventually fired her gun, hitting Jean, the reports said.

He later died at a hospital.

The officer has been placed on leave while the matter is being investigated by the District Attorney’s office.

Didn’t I talk about an unlock door, when Big Elizabeth Said my reasoning was rubbish or something like that! People talking Master Key!

“When asked why Guyger was allowed to surrender somewhere other than Dallas County’s jail, Dallas County District Attorney Faith Johnson said the decision was made by the Texas Rangers, who are also investigating.

Guyger had just ended a 15-hour shift Thursday when she returned in uniform to the South Side Flats apartment complex. She parked on the fourth floor, instead of the third, where she lived, according to an affidavit filed for the officer’s arrest warrant, possibly suggesting that she was confused or disoriented.

When she put her key in the apartment door that was unlocked and slightly ajar, it opened. Inside, the lights were off. Then she saw a figure in the darkness, the affidavit said.

The officer concluded that her apartment was being burglarized and gave verbal commands to the figure, which ignored them. She then drew her…

I was under the impression that police officers are trained to access any given situation even in the dark. Here in the Caribbean, we have a strong belief that Soldiers make bad Police officers as “they are trained to shoot.” Now we are seeing this shoot and ask question later syndrome coming from many a police officer in the USA, especially when certain types of people are involved. A soldier, however, outside of the battlefield, is trained to challenge a suspect before opening fire.
Let’s wait and see if Justice is done. RIP Bro!

White people are afraid of black people, but it is mostly black people who end up dead when there is an interaction with white people.

But however she got into the apartment–if she didn’t shoot at the man at the doorway –could she not see that the apartment was not hers, by the way of its decoration or furnishing? That policeman is wrong, wrong, wrong wee!

Elizabeth, before it is all over you may hear it is not just entering the wrong apartment; you may find out it is a love affair gone wrong!

You might hear she killed her man over another woman eh

It is either that or she is mentally and psychiatric  ill. Nevertheless, that is not a normal killing; I made some points in a submission on the blog last night; read it. As I stated if she erred by entering the apartment, when she got inside she would have noticed that something is different; something like the furniture, location of the kitchen, inside doors and windows.

My conclusion is she killed her lover, or she made a mistake entering; and upon finding a Black man alone in there that became her opportunity to do what white police in America do best and that is to kill black people; man women and children!

” Dallas police said Friday they are seeking a warrant for manslaughter against one of their own after an off-duty officer entered the wrong apartment in her building and…

Seem as if we all have the same questions; but will we get the answer?

In the past, I have mistaken the apartment of someone else for mine, but I was on the wrong floor, can’t remember how this happened, so I walked straight down to the door and entered my keys. It was only when I realized that my key didn’t fit, and some inside, unlocked the door and left the chain on–I knew then that I was at the wrong apartment–because I live alone.

This could be what happened with the police officer; the young man may have heard the rattling of a key at his door and opened it. But shooting him on the spot is very wrong–because that was the only way she could have killed him– since she had a gun she could have asked a few questions before shooting at him.

Today the young man would be alive, and his people would not be in grief at this time–I know how painfull it is to lost a loved one, especially that he was so young–O Lord!

An incomplete story, missing pertinent information. DNO if you don’t have all the information, hold off on publishing… questions such as “How did she enter his apartment?” Did she have a master key for all apartments on the complex? The caption under the man’s photo…? What is that supposed to say to the reader? The story headline for Christ’s sake… had to read it 4 times and then read the article to sort of understand what it meant… come on , you guys can do better.

ADMIN: Thank you for your feedback. This is a widely reported and still developing story. An investigation is ongoing into the details but the current facts are very much newsworthy.

The thing with people like you is that you are stupid: What master key are you talking about: This person is a tenant the same as the man sh shot!

Why would she have  master key?

I own many apartments, and do not have a master key that fits every door to all my units! That is a stupid question!

How do you know she used a key to get into the apartment? What if the door was opened and mistaking the apartment to be her own believed a burglary was in process, decided to shoot on sight! Don’t you think my reasoning makes more sense?

America is not the way you all stay in Dominica and visualize it you know!

I have certain make of expensive car, on the entrance key it is written “do not duplicate.) So, if  wish to get a spare key made, no Luck Smith would cut me another one; that wold be illegal, I would have to get the dealership get me a key.

No! You do not have a better reasoning.

The policewoman lives in that building “it is said that she mistook the young man’s apartment for own” If this was burglary, would they leave the door wide open, for witnesses?

Secondly, with the door of the unit wide open, why would she not see that the apartment features were not like her own–or did she enter and shoot at the young man with her eyes closed?

There is no line of reasoning that could go in favor of that policeman’s deed, she is wrong, wrong, wrong, all the way. I hope that justice will prevail in favor of this young man’s people.

And one more thing! The word is “would” not “wold”

No! You do not have a better reasoning.

The policewoman lives in that building “it is said that she mistook the young man’s apartment for own” If this was burglary, would they leave the door wide open, for witnesses?(Elizabeth).

Elizabeth I told you before no matter how much you try you cannot defeat me!

Don’t you know in broad daylight thieves, and common criminals walks up to people’s front door; break in taking what they want with door open and walkout?

Who cares about close doors when they committing burglary!

When they made you gave them your credit card number, and they thief your money that was also burglary!

        Were they behind closed doors?

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

When they grab someone purse out of their hand and run in the streets that is also called burglary!

“Do not duplicate” actually means you are to show proof that you’re authorized to have a key made. Any locksmith will duplicate your vehicle key by showing your registration.

Please make some sense for me here.
Firstly, she must have just moved to the area for her to mistake someone else’s apartment for hers.
Secondly, it is not her apartment, how did she gain access inside? The apartments share keys in common? Nice looking young man shot by a wandering female officer? Something doesn’t click!

    • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
      September 7, 2018

All I can say is the the police officer was perhaps under the influence of some substance, illegal substance or inebriated by alcohol; or simply paranoid; having  psychiatric issues.

On the other hand it is not impossible to enter someones apartment by mistake, considering in most of the apartment complex they all look the same, same shape, and painted the same color. It could be she went to the wrong address inserted the key, into a door that was not locked, seeing the guy simply opened fire no question asked!

Look I own a place in Los  Angeles, I moved many times to other property’s live there and return to the place in Los Angeles. Many times I find myself drove up into my neighbor drive way and got out of my car before realizing I  am in the wrong drive way.

It happened to me this Wednesday morning after returning from a long labor day weekend! In America every should keep their door lock 24/7:  Open to unknown means death!

Barbara, sometimes I feel badly after I curse out and insult some of our people you know. But the reality is some of our people deserve to be insulted; some are the  dumbest people on the planet.

Gosh man! I know that cognitive thinking evades many of us, we are unable to think cognitively, nevertheless, what happen to our commonsense?

If is one thing a smart phone or a PC will do to a person is expose their true intelligence, if we are dumb and uneducated, surely it will show how dunce and stupid we are. If we went to school that too will show.

For someone to ask a stupid question “if she had a master key, is beyond comprehension!”

If she was a maintenance janitor or part of a repair service crew, maybe a question like that would be appropriate!
