Five new lawyers ……..”CONGRATULATIONS”…..that is all that should be said. They deserve positive recognition. After receiving an education they returned home to serve their country, but the best we can offer them is insults……..So why are we trying to make them feel unwelcomed in their own country. How does that motivate our youth to work hard and study to make something of themselves?
Are we trying to be our country’s worst enemies ? These people are our fellow Dominicans !
What do we have to gain by their destruction ? Or are we just cannot be helped in our hateful mindset.

I thought in a democracy everyone is free to chose their profession, that you have freedom of choice.

With all that lawyers in Dominica they should address Dominica social problems. Laws that no longer pertain to the current way of life. eg. land being sold with no motorable roads or at least 3 ft between each portion of land. that will prevent people from going to court for trivial purposes. what about setting up juvenile court to deal with all the sexual intercourse of underage children and adult. thus preventing parents from making arrangement. (getting money for hush hush). .
What about Renters law, adjustments needs to be made. too many people are getting away with living on peoples property for free.
The old law which gives people right to other peoples property because they live on it free for over ten years.
Why do some people become lawyers. there is a glut of lawyers in Dominica. find other profession. there is no improvement in social life in Dominica

Dominica do have plenty of all professions; good or dad, the problem is that there is not enough work for all of them. with a dwindling population, there are not enough clients  to be shared between the new five never mind  the older ones.

There are not enough civil matters to share, their might be a few criminal cases, but the criminals has to continuously commit crimes to sustain a practice in criminal law.

That is why most lawyers, and doctors after a while get involve into politics, becoming puppets to the establishment, because they are unable to make a living in their chosen profession. In spite of that those are the people I admire and respect all due to their academics.

Their degrees are not bought, and so I can say it is their personal possessions, which allows them  to serve people, and no Dominican can be fooled believing their degrees belong to all  Dominicans!

They are not Punjab-Duquesne University graduates eh!

    Where is Sir Knight  Dr…

Congrats to you all. Well deserved after long hard work. Great having fresh lawyers to be able to help maintain the justice of the land. Stay positive and always do what is ethically right. Best of luck and congrats again.

I admire people who work hard and achieve. But I would never aspire to be an attorney in Dominica. Too many lawyers chasing too little business. That is why some are tempted to tamper with their clients’ money.

That said, I wish them all the success in their new career.

It would be in the public’s interest to name the admonishing senior lawyers who need to be chided /upbraided themselves. If there is one who has not killed a piglet before Christmas
    please respond.
We in DA are living in extremely humorous times. So many players/characters on & off stage.
Look at the former UWP lawyer- leader & the funds belonging to the first P.M.
This is a whole other topic like where are they now.

Ou fou compere, I could not agree more or add anything you did not touch. I read between the lines .It has a statistical flavor one just has to extraplot .
    Case # 1
We have a lawyer who owns a whole extended block of land & houses which was left to her in wills .
Who crafted who the wills? That lawyer had been observed to adopting sickly elderly during their last days for many a year.
A historic case of Trevey Bruney & Q V Alleyne early 70’s. The coconut slaughter case.

I rest my case on: They were also admonished by the judges and senior lawyers present to ” be honest to clients and the courts.”

A priest was on his death bed and asked that a lawyer and a politician should visit him at his death bed.
When they arrived, he asked that one should stand either side of him. He held the hand of the lawyer in one hand and one hand of the politician in the other.
The lawyer and politician were very proud to be called by the priest to be at his death bed. They asked the priest “why did you specifically ask for us?” The priest replied “when Jesus was dying on the Cross, He had two crooks on either side of Him, so now I am dying, I want two crooks on my side”. He tightened his hold on them and died peacefully!

DNO, this is supposed to be a joke right? be honest???? That’s a lonely word Billy Joel 1976.
& advised by who??? Senior lawyers?? Hold smoke will some one tickle me.
There is a law in economics: The Law of diminishing returns to scale.
Very applicable in the D/can legal context. Soon some will begin to bake & drive taxi.
There is about 60k people on island more than 45k are under 21 yrs of age leaving15 k who will need legal services.More than 7000 cannot afford legal services about 2000 don’t believe in our lawyers. How many lawyers are there on island? hey ! we have to subtract that # from the 6000 left from the population.
That’s why I asked to be tickled.
